This Labour government basically just ran on the tired promise of “at least we’re not the Conservatives”. I asked my Labour MP personally what he had to offer me and he said exactly that. Not inspiring in the slightest. I don’t want to vote against something, I want to vote for something. Which is why they didn’t get my vote this time. Nor did the Conservatives, but they were never going to anyway, so trying to pit me against them was a fruitless endeavour. Those were never the two options for my vote. Shutting down the 11 uk off-shore 'tax havens' to claw back over £90billion a year in tax-dodging is/was economically sound. & charging private schools VAT (cos they're not charities) were all sound policies. I think you maybe right, but I don't think it's through lack of quality. His manifestos and policies were extremely popular country wide, and so was he at first. It was the press that ripped him to shreds, and his own parliamentary party that sealed his unpopularity. I suspect he's a man that we will come back to many times in the coming years and realise how he was right. However, his position is deeply, deeply wrong on Ukraine and I'm not sure he would have sent equal military aid there, which is possibly the most important issue in my lifetime personally - I believe everything happens for a reason, and I would rather have a tory UK than a Russian Ukraine.
