  • This video teaches you how to play arpeggios using the finger rolling technique. Combined with sweep picking, these two techniques make it very easy to play arpeggios at lightning fast speed on guitar.
Here’s what we’ll cover in this arpeggio guitar lesson…
First, I’ll show you a very easy, but very fast arpeggio solo that uses the finger rolling technique to rip through fast arpeggios.
Second, I’ll show you exactly why this technique is a better one to use than alternative techniques for these kinds of arpeggios.
Third, I’ll show you EXACTLY how to get an awesome, accurate, clean sound when you sweep pick arpeggios fast by rolling your finger.
Fourth, I’ll teach you what NOT to do in order to master this lead guitar technique.
Fifth, I’ll show you how important it is to focus on your knuckle line in your fretting hand. This is the key to playing super-fast arpeggios for the fretting hand
Sixth, I’ll give you several sweep picking exercises that all use the finger roll technique and sweep picking.
Seventh, I’ll show you how to practice this technique so you can master it.

This was SO helpful. I've been doing a sweeping exercise for a couple of weeks now getting very little progress. This really helped me debug myself. Thanks a bunch.

I struggled quite a lot on those 3 string roll arpeggios compared to the non-rolled ones in the previous weeks.
It really unlocked my mind to see your tutorial. It instantly clicked and I'm pretty sure it will take only a few days until I have this properly implemented!
    Great Video!

WTF! That was crazy! I love and hate this guy! He is the first guitar teacher that I have discovered that explains the physical description of the body to perform the task at hand like the knuckle movement. Very impressive! More Legato please! In the style of Alex Skolnick ;)

I learned this back around 2012 from you and still use it to this day. Took me roughly 3 hours to get it top notch.

Awesome lesson Tom! I'd like to learn some techiniques that produces "artificial" sounds like mystical harmonics. dive bombs, ghost notes and tapped harmonics

Hello Tom, very helpful video. I think that the most difficult part is when you have to roll other fingers instead of index, like the E minor shape at 7th position (the first arpeggio of altitudes, for example) where you have to roll your ring finger, I literally hate that :D

Funny how I came to your videos out of curiosity. I read people talking shit about you and your techniques, horrible trash talk. So of course I wanted to see just how bad you were. 🙄 Here I am now hooked. You are an amazing teacher, quit possibly the best I have came across. Thank God for the shit talkers and please, keep proving them wrong. Professional, thorough and ridiculously easy to understand. Thank you Mr Hess.

Tom, could you comment on how to apply this on the lower frets? I am able to roll decently on the higher frets, but the stretch between frets (like in B minor root position or A minor in 1st inversion) is still hard to get clean.
