I Just did fix one of mine that presented this problem. Did It with a hairdryer!!! 3 rounds of 15s on Max heat. I isolated the rest of the board cutting a square hole with the Chips size on a piece of paperboard. Job done! Amazing tip! Thank You so much for the vídeo mate! Helping half of the world with this! Amazing how these Pioneer CDJs are a piece of crap inside...
Holy moly. This video is 8 years old. In my life I fixed absolutely nothing so far when it came to electronics. I followed the steps to fix my player and can hardly believe it worked this perfectly. Thank you so much James. Fantastic work.
yep it work for me too... i went and bought a heat gun (Bauer) that had 3 settings and a dial from 1-10 so i used it on high and the number 2 for a few seconds each time as instructed and IT WORKED LIKE CHARM ...ON THE FIRST TRY!! James i cannot thank you enough for the extremely detailed video and saving us time and money! you are the goat!
Just want to say thank you! Mine just showed the wait error and booted, didn’t showed the error in red. Just tried exactly what you did but with a hair dryer and is working perfectly!! Thank you a lot!
This is a life saver video...! Worked for me 1st time with a hairdryer, 3 lots of 7 seconds at 2cm distance from chips. Thank You James. New mother boards are 405 euros and waiting time right now is 17 weeks, as there is a huge shortage of parts and micro chips due to Covid
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'd lost all hope that my deck would ever work again and then stumbled across this video. Got it working on the 1st try and the deck is as good as new. You're a legend James, many thanks!
James, thank you so very, very much! Had this error on both of my CDJ 2000s, took them apart following your video and fixed them with a hairdryer. Absolutely stoked!
YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND TAKE MY LIKE AND MY LOVE! This is the only YT tech tutorial I have ever followed that has been successful for me. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I followed the procedure and at first it worked but when I off and on it, it went back to the WAIT then I did it again and it worked. Something weird also happened, the Cdj always work perfect before I close the back tray but as soon as I close the tray and put the bolt, it will stop working and go back to the wait error. I did that like 4 times before I decided not to put all the bolts on the back tray so I only used 3 of the bolts instead of the 5 and it working perfect ever since. I still don't know why that happened till now. thanks, God bless you.
your a god among us mear mortals thank you so much this acually fixed my issue. and it was definitely a temperature thing as a i rented my cdjs out in an outdoor summer event and they were scolding hot to the touch worked fine all night till they cooled down and broke next day..
If like xbox this fix is probably temporary. People “reflowing” it with hairdryers, a hairdryer is never gonna get hot enough to melt solder otherwise it would be too dangerous to put near your head😂 Headgun would def get hot enough but personally i would recommend if you are reflowing bgas that you run some liquid flux under them first as it will help the solder flow better. Also would recommend a temperature probe to check what temp the board is getting and maybe some foil and capstan tape to protect the other components. That aside thanks for the info on the problematic board. Good job
Hey man, I gave it a go not sure if I went to hot or something, but now it powers up but only the track search buttons light up and the CD light at the bottom. Any ideas? And would it be possible to just buy a new one of those mother boards or whatever it is haha.
Hi! nice video! Please could you be so gentle to explain to me how is possible a thing like that? And how did you discover this? How is the reason cause the heating fix the error? And why the chip change the behavior of the cdj like that? What happened to the chip and what do the hot air to the chip? Is incredible. Coul be the humidity? Or the vibrations? Is something connected to the hits when you move the cdj from the case to the consolle? I'm curious! thanks a lot!
Thanks for the info. Got mine working again although I used a soldering iron at 400 degrees C, put a piece of foil on top off the chips to heat it up and boooom! it works again!
Hey James Ross, really appreciated your video. As I manage to repaired 1 of my Cdj 2000, but I have a question. The other Cdj shows a waiting loop and automatically restart. Not sure if you've a solution, but would appreciate your comment.
It worked for a while, then stopped working. retried process, now screen goes on and off and grainy pixels appear. any idea what the issue could be? is replacing the MAIN ASSY, the solution to all of this?
Great... Sir I am from India and my pioneer CDJ 850K is showing an error E6002.. I will be very grateful if you could please tell me the reason behind this error and the solution. Thank you
question: does this also works with the cdj 800 mk2? my set has also a E-8709 error, and when he gets that error the cdj reboots himself, do you know how to fix that?
Ok so I discovered this error at about 9pm on a Friday night. I unplugged the power cable along with all rca and link cable, left the house for about 3-4 before i returned to give it another shot. Plugged everything in and for some miraculous reason it works. I have no idea what the hell is going on, and highly doubt what I did had any influence, but it just started working again...
hi,Excuse me, I used the hot air gun to solve the problem of the cdj2000 E-8709 according to your method, but using the hot air gun to solve the E-8079 problem, another problem is E-7001, how can I solve this E-7001 problem. @James Ross
Hi mate. Last night i got this E-8709 error msg on my 1000mk3 will it be the same process to fix? My problem is that the circuit boards are different to urs
How long is the recommended heating time? I recall you said 30s in the video, but your intervals are like 10s - 7s - 6s where the - is about 6s of cooling. Please reply soon! trying this in the next 12 hours
My CDJ 2000 display fully not working! if i shack that jockey, that jockey's display goes black & hangs! i opened that jockey and cleared the ribbons 1 side! then pioneer dj appears then boot again what should i do? change the ribbon or something else!
I've just had this problem happen to me, I had it fully unplugged for 3 odd hours like someone prior mentioned. I then put the latest firmware onto my usb and went to update bit still had the e8709 message appear. I think turned it off and did a factory reset ( usb stop & disc eject buttons theb power on) on the unit and by miracle perhaps it came right. Don't know if this will help anyone but my 2000 is working again!
Hello Man i got a Problem with my cdj2000nexus Player he shows me the E 8302 Error could you tell me how i can Fix the Error? Many thanks by the Way for your Instructions !

saved by the bell... I narrowed down the 7001 error to the cpu ship and not the dsp... so figured i would give that another heating since there was nothing to lose... but b4 i heated it, i let it stay at operating temp with the error while opened... So when i shut it off i could heat it quickly close to operating temp... i then heated it for 15sec. and it worked... so, this heating also solves the error 7001 which is related to the cpu...
@@pwhitney1183 Had exactly the same thing and got a E-7001 Disk Drive error after the first time I heated the chips. Heated both chips again, bit longer now, with a hair dryer and a piece of cardboard as a funnel and my CDJ-2000 works perfectly now.
So glad I came across this video, bought a heat gun for £15 and it worked like a charm no issues what so ever! Can’t thank you enough pal!
