I installed the full kit today - upper and lower crash guards, engine guard, skid plate. I have a '21 ATAS DCT. The videos are pretty spot on. Installation took me about 6 hours total, mostly because I take my time and am not in a hurry. My only mis-step was at the beginning, removing the cross-bolts. I misunderstood, and removed the lower and upper black OEM ones (which also had me taking off the exhaust when I followed that rabbit trail). Once I figured out that it was the lower black cross-bolt and the slightly larger silver cross-bolt, I was back on track.
The only differences in the videos to my install is that I think some of the bolt head sizes are different. For example, the bolt heads on the C-Clamps are 8mm, not 10mm.
The only thing that would have helped would be a 10-year-old helper. I have large hands, and getting my fat fingers into some of the bolt locations was a challenge. Although, to be fair, very little blood was lost....

Thank you for your comment. The installation video sucks. These crash bars cost bucks with not much invested in the installation. I didn’t realize they removed the bolt at the engine and not the frame.

Great product and video guys. Just installed lower crash bars and engine guards. I would point out to be careful installing the right back plate. On my 2021 ATAS there is a break line that touches the frame. Tell everyone to make sure the back plate is underneath that line to not pinch it. Thanks guys! Great product!

Just installed the lower crash bars, engine guard and skid plate on a 23 AT Adventure Sports. Took around 2 hours. Super happy with ease of installation working by myself. The lower crash bars by themselves are fairly solid but once you tie in the engine guard this tightens up the complete install.

Just installed on my 2022 AT. Only thing that was kind of confusing compared to the video here was the bracket behind the frame on the left and right side. The bracket has been updated since this video. Was unsure how it would mount. The right side was a little worse but I believe the bracket may have bent to form? Regardless I can tell the amount of time OM has spent on making sure everything lines up well. Bravo.

Just a heads-up. If you bought your AT with the Honda engine guards, you'll have to drop the exhaust in order to remove the Honda mounting bracket for those guards, so you can install OM's bracket. Honda's instructions are found in their accessories page with the OEM engine guards. A friend or a floor jack make the job much easier.

    • @Outbackmotortek

Zak Parrish Thanks for the suggestions. Some of our customers have been able to install the cross brace just by removing the four nuts on the exhaust header and gently pull on them in order to create access to the through bolts.

    • @11asurfer

Outback Motortek To avoid removing the 4 header bolts, do you think it is possible to use a hacksaw to cut the upper thru bolt??? Will a saw cut through the bolt? I have a CRF1100

@@Outbackmotortek you are correct. I'm only talking about if you had the Honda official engine protection bars. They're an accessory, not standard, but they came with my bike. It's not anything OM can control. Just mentioning in case anyone winds up in the same boat.

My kit came with 2 fat spacers, no mention in the video where these are supposed to go? Also the video does not mention using the spacer that is already where the 10mm bolt goes, make sure to put it back because it will likely fall out when you remove the OEM 10mm Bolton on the frame. I would also recommend removing the OEM skid plate for ease of access to the frame.

    • @Outbackmotortek

i managed to fit the main guard, but noticed left side of the bike gap is bigger than the right side.
I prefer to correct the gap before mounting the rest. Can it be because i only used the supplied 8mm spacer on the left of the bike? Note that no spacer on OEM bolt and no space to fit spacer on the right side of the bike. Thanks for quick response
Pending engine guard, uppers and bashplate. Hopefully tomorrow

Hello OM/Lorry. Watching this vid reminded me that i have a question.
Is it possible to remove the exhaust headers itself without dismantling the lower crashbar installation?
I'm considering a header swap hence my question to have an idea what I'm up against. Mine is a 2016 model. Appreciate your response or anyone who has done it before.

    • @Outbackmotortek
      @Outbackmotortek  4 года назад +1

Thanks for your comment. There's very little clearance between the headers and the lower crash bars' cross brace, thus I think the only option to remove the headers is by first removing the lower crash bars.
      I hope this help.
      Cheers,
      Lorry
