    *PLEASE READ THIS AND THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION FOR HELPFUL INFORMATION*
    In the video, you saw I wasn't as careful as I could have been with the auto body paint in the engine bay and on the hood. If you happened to scratch up the paint a bit in either location too and you're worried about how it looks or you're worried about rust, you could get some spray paint that would closely match the color of your vehicle or you could go to the dealer and see if you could pick up some OEM touch up paint for your Tacoma.
    *Product Update From Leon* : "Thanks for the great vid Timmy! There have been a few improvements made to the Spiker kits since this video - all brackets are now powder coated in gloss black, the rivets are special multi-grip rivets that will work even with oversized holes, and all kits include a drill bit stopper to prevent drilling too far into the hood, so no need for electrical tape :)".

      prime it at the very least it's a shame so many yotas rust out eventually from lack of concern

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад +1

      @@TheIrishdriven Come on now, a few scratches in the engine bay and hood aren't going to cause this Tacoma to fall apart especially where we live in California because we don't have to deal with road salts that destroy vehicles. But, you are correct that it would be good to cover the bare metal with something to prevent corrosion. The main concern for corrosion is with the frame. If the frame rots out, the vehicle is slated for the wrecking yard unless you want to do a frame swap and that's a ton of work.

    it's a toyota, so having to open the hood is actually a rare occurrence!

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад +1

      This is true but you'll have to open the hood at some point for general maintenance like an oil change and then you get to enjoy all the extra room you have to do the job because the hood is up higher and more out of your way.

    Hello! in our country, it is very difficult to find such parts for the car and they are very expensive, could you help find a cheap option or not new with such shock absorbers? I saw on your canal, that when your a steep club intends to, you give gifts, please help!

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад

      I don't know of a cheaper option but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist. Maybe by searching the internet you can find what others have done to do a similar modification to their vehicle.

    Does anyone know how long the struts are?

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  2 года назад

      Just buy the kit from Spiker Engineering instead of trying to figure out how you can put together the kit yourself. He charges a fair price for the kit.

      Timmy The Toolman
      Question about a tundra , with the hydroboost master cylinder. On ice if I let off the brake the rear tires spin and when I’m hit the brake the front stay locked but the rears still spin , like I’m doing a power break burn out. This truck does have abs and no lspv in the back.
      New shoes in the back. Your my last hope ! Any idea why the rears aren’t holding ?

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  4 года назад +1

      @@parkgrovedriving Sounds like your rear shoes are way out of adjustment. They stay in adjustment by using the parking brake. Pull the parking over and over again and that should bring it back into the correct adjustment. With the 4runner, you should get 7-9 clicks from the brake handle. Don't know if it's the same for a Tundra but just pull it a bunch of times until the brake handle gets tighter (Less clicks).

    why do I think those struts are installed backwards?

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад +2

      Somebody else mentioned the same thing. Here's Leon's response: "The struts can be positioned either way and will work fine. The reason to orient these struts with the tube on top is to provide damping at end of stroke. If oriented the other way, the struts may hit the stops a little harder, but they'll still work".

    When drilling into your hood be real careful not to drill through your hood lmao, learn from my mistake and use some tape around the bit to stop from going through

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, the tape is smart but also just not using a ton of force on the drill is helpful too. You're only drilling through some pretty thin metal so a lite touch on the drill is all you need. You can tell when the drill bit is about to break through and you can really ease up the pressure so the drill bit pops in but doesn't end up doing any damage.

    • @lyonkster
      @lyonkster 5 лет назад +1

      Definitely, and better yet, instead of tape, use the drill bit stopper that's now included in all Spiker kits. Almost foolproof!

    Should the struts be flipped around so the oil don't run out of them and wear early?

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад +1

      The direction we installed them is the way it shows to do it in the instruction manual that comes with the kit. These are gas struts. If oil is going to leak out due to a bad seal, it will still leak out with the strut in the other orientation because the oil is under pressure. I'm sure there's a good reason for the direction Leon has us installing the struts but I don't know what it is.
