    As a devoted cat guardian and someone who has helped in rescue and pet education, HUGE HUGE HUGE parenting props for teaching your tiny humans to be gentle with their tiny friends. Lady and Sprinkles couldn't have landed with a better, more loving family I don't think. They're so precious and its nice that their personalities complement each other so well. I can see Sprinkles going on adventures with MJ & Little Miss Bea and getting up to all sorts of mischief and Lady happily snuggling with the family during movie night or partaking in a tea party... falling asleep in the blanket fort or amongst the stuffed toys. I absolutely adore it when parents get their tiny humans furry additions to the family. It has SO many benefits for the whole family. Cats or dogs both teach responsibility, patience, understanding, help prevent the development of allergies, reduce stress/blood pressure/cortisol levels, and they can become a child's most sacred of confidants... a best friend that can see them through what can be some very tough years between 6 and 16 really.
    This was an absolute treat! Thank you for sharing and looking forward to more updates! Would love to see you design a cat garden for the wee sprouts with the wee humans... do some Lady and Sprinkles inspired art... how about some Lady and Sprinkles created art! I would happily watch any and all content featuring these two little sprites.

      As much as I love cats, I probably won't be able to get one since cat allergies run in women in my family. My mom, aunt, and sister all have severe cat allergies. I don't want to get a cat and have to say goodbye later because I develop an allergy.

    • @LunaBianca1805
      @LunaBianca1805 2 года назад +1

      I'd also add that habing pets doesn't only prevent allergies from developing, but also help reducing them. I'm asthmatic, have a dog - hair allergy and have always been prone to more than one annual cold, to bronchitis and pneumonia - and that all had almost immediately gotten better when we got our first poodle pup when I was 17. I can also attest to the positive effect of sharing life and home with fury (or scaly or feathery) family on the psyche :) And I'm sure they're also great for kids to develop social skills :3

      @@Valorian6167 my sister was horribly allergic to cats since she was a toddler. In her late 20s,a stray decided my sister's family needed a pet and she was the perfect match. My sister tried to avoid her. But, any cat owner can attest it is impossible to ignore a cat when it's mind is made up. It took a while, but my sister was around Stormy enough that she built up antibodies. She was allergy free from her cat. Stormy was her first cat. She just lost her 15yr. old Chynna, and is the proud new mom of 3 mo. old, Sera. If you are willing to suffer allergies for a bit you could have a cat. I can say this, "it is a constant surprise to discover just how loving and amazing these creatures are."

    They are so precious!! What a sweet surprise and love how you are teaching the kids how to handle them. If by chance you do read this, I would like to offer one piece of advice with new kittens (I know you've had a cat before, but I just feel compelled to tell this to all new pet owners): I would highly recommend you get them used to eating multiple textures of foods early. Cats get very used to eating whatever it is you feed them as kittens and then it's incredibly hard to change their diet as adult cats if you run into health issues. And I'll add one more piece of info here that you can do your own research on, but the reason I bring this up is that most cats who live on dry food diets end up with health issues later in life because cats are meant to get their hydration through their food. I only am saying this as advice to you now because I wish someone had told me this when I fur baby was little. He's having kidney issues now and I'm fighting to keep him healthy, and trying hard to get him on a better diet. Wet food is better than dry, and raw food is better than wet food. Just wanted to plant these seeds with you so your kittos have the best chance at a long and healthy life!!! Congrats on the new family members! I'm sure your kids will have many cherished memories growing up with these two kittens ❤️

    • @emmettrose5960
      @emmettrose5960 2 года назад

      Absolutely yes on making sure your kittens get the best possible diet! I have to caution against the “raw food is better than wet food” advice, though.
      It’s important to do research on cat foods, and make sure whatever you’re feeding them does lifetime feeding trials. If you’re preparing your own “raw food” based on something you read on the internet, chances are, there won’t be lifetime feeding trials to confirm safety, which means your cats will be the test subject. If you really want to try a raw diet for your cat, get confirmation from your vet first that you’re meeting all of their dietary needs.

    • @tiaraariel1
      @tiaraariel1 2 года назад

      I think it's important everyone does their research for sure! In terms of my own cat, I am feeding him a carefully sourced and nutritionally balanced frozen raw diet that is biologically appropriate for cats, prepared by a reputable pet food company specializing in raw food diets, is recommended by my vet and backed by science 👍🏻 Raw food (in most cases) according to the research I've seen and the vet I use is the healthiest, most biologically appropriate diet for cats (and dogs). There are of course exceptions for for certain medical conditions. I'm not recommending anyone just go out and get a store bought piece of raw meat for their animal (raw food for pets needs to be prepared differently because of the harmful bacteria that is often present on human grade raw foods because they are intended to be cooked). But I still stand by my original post, and of course to always do your research!

    I'm happy for you getting new family members. They are really cute. I just wanted to make you aware of the fact that cats are often chronically dehydrated, because they rely on their food as the main moisture source, but when they are only fed dry food they don't get enough moisture, so for their kidneys it's a lot better to get wet food instead of dry food.
    By the way I like that you're already teaching your kids how to properly treat cats and how to be respectful to them.

    • @luckyrainbowrose
      @luckyrainbowrose 2 года назад +1

      Was literally scrolling through the comments to look for anyone else mentioning anything about this.
      Before i even finished the video.
      Those kittens were awfully thirsty and that did look like mostly dry food. I'm sure Jazza and Mrs Jazza were just following whatever they were told by some pet shop clerk that sold them the same $59 bed or whatever it was, even if they didn't probably get them from a pet shop. So I'm sure if they were properly informed they wouldn't be trying to feed kittens this young on dry food alone. They looked a bit worryingly thirsty, and although the pet shop clerk will hear you've just got new kittens and suggest their most expensive supposedly all inclusive dry cat food brand that may say its fine as a sole diet for young kittens, and cats of all ages.
      And as much as some people perfer to avoid the smell and messier ness of wet food, i wouldn't be feeding these kittens dry food at all this early, and it shouldnt be their sole dinner of any cat, with the issues with chronic dehydration, more so in kittens and older cats, but just means dry food should be extra. Not their main food and would be hard for guys this young to break with their little teeth. They should be having wet food and a cat friendly milk really.
      And if super aposed to the smell or mess of the canned wet cat food their is many other options of just giving babies like these chicken or softer meats, cooked and raw or if you just want to buy something with no prep that doesn't have the smell of canned wet cat food, then there are many chilled raw cat foods that would be much higher in moisture and easy for these kitties to get in as they grow. Along with cat friendly milk. Id maybe even warm the milk before leaving them for the night or have it room temp. These guys aren't that old and need alot of nutrients and importantly moister quiet often at this age.
      I can tell you for sure if those kitties had some moister rich wet food or chilled raw in their food bowl, they would have probably been going for that over the water, to lap at the tastier juices/fluids and also get their tummys full. Instead of just sitting there filling their little tummys up with water.
      If you're determined to feed dry food like that, the water should of atleast have been cat friendly milk for them to fill up on.
      But I'm sure this is simply some bad advice they got.
      But as someone who's owned cats their whole life and raised a few unwanted litters with mums help and also without, weaned them all and found them homes. I was watching this video with a smile for most of it proud they were doing so much right, and in the right way, until i saw the kittens with that water. Aww poor girls, should have some warm milk and some yummy very wet, wet food to go at.

    So excited for your whole family! I'm glad that you got two instead of one. That's what we did and it makes us less worried about leaving them alone when we have to go out for a day or two. If I have one complaint about owning cats, it's that one of our cats loves to scratch stuff he's not supposed to scratch, so we have to have scratching posts in EVERY room and plastic covers on all of our leather furniture. But the other one NEVER scratches except where he's supposed to ....yet he's the beggar that steals water from cups and steals food off the plates. Which wouldn't be that bad if he ate the food but NOOOO....he just wants to stick his paw out onto your plate and run off with it before leaving it on the floor.....they also like to drink paint water, so make sure that your paints are non-toxic or get a lid for the paint cup. That said, SUPER AWESOME additions to the family. YOUR KIDS ARE SO ADORABLE!!!

    That is so cool!!! i found a stray "kitten" the other day, i say it that way because it isn't exactly a kitten or an adult cat, its kind of in between ages right now. We found her across the road in the corn field after we were done doing our evening farm chores and we heard meowing and i'm like "WHAT?!?!?" so we went across the road... at night... with no flashlights, (I know safe, right?) We got her out of the corn field and then we kept her on our front porch in a dog crate, we let her out sometimes to let her move around a bit. But then we realized she. had. FLEASSSSSS!!! so that night we went to the dollar store and bought tick and flea shampoo, tick and flea collar, feed, litter box, etc. She still didn't have a name at this point. We went around asking people if they lost a cat, but EVERYONE has dogs around here and the last man we asked he said "i guess you have a free kitten" and i'm like "i guess so" so we washed her took her inside, and i finally found a name, Blu, that wasn't a typo. and all of that happend in a 2 day time zone 🤣 as i write this she's sleeping on a blanket next to me :) also thanks you to whoever actually read this whole novel, lol, bye! Also our puppy "Precious" wants to play but Blu thinks otherwise 🤣

    I watch this while I have 4 of my 6 cats scattered around my room in various sleeping spots. I recently adopted a gray tabby and he is very friendly. Definitely loves his cuddles.

    Adorable kittens, they do like to chew on electrical wires, climb up drapes and screen doors, and my last cat would climb me like a tree when he was scared. And hide under my hair on my shoulders

    You should get them REALLY used to getting their paws touched so when you clip the claws they won't freak out as much. my cats use me as a climbing ledge and deep cat scratches can get infected easily if you don't keep them clean.

    Aww, it's so nice to see a family getting kittens and treating them with respect. ♥️ The kids did so great with them!! Looks like a they'll be a great fit, but I doubt Sprinkles will be contained by that pen, she's a scamp already. Hardly have to do a think to make her feel confident hahaha

    Oh my goodness they're so adorable! I lost my 2 boys of 15 and 16 years over the past 18 months which was heartbreaking but we got a new kitten last month, Neville, and he is just like Sprinkles, but he has white paws and a white belly. He's also very adventurous and a bit too brave at times it's quite stressful 😂 but he's very sweet and cuddly but my legs and feet are covered in scratches from his playful moods so be careful there. So lovely to see your kids being so gentle and allowing the kittens their break when they need it. My kitten met my neighbour's young girls the other day and they have only owned older cats so far so they didn't quite understand "slowly and quietly" and he was getting a bit scared. All the best to the new babies! They're such a joy to have around, I adore cats.

    Q. Have you been taught about keeping their nails clipped and how to do it?
    Please, please, please play with their feet. It sounds crazy, but they need to get used to you handling them so you can trim them, otherwise you’ll be taking them to the vet to get them clipped. At eight dollars every time you go. I adopted my daughter’s two cats after she passed away, one will allow you to clip the nails, but not the other. It is important so they don’t get hung up on anything and dangle by a nail. Besides, nothing like going into work (6th grade teacher) with four bloodied scabbed streaks from the top of your head straight down your cheek to your neck because the cat used you as a launching pad when you tried to clip the first nail. My students loved it, asked if I could get her to do it to them. Good luck! They are cute! :-)

      In general cats don't "need" their claws cut. It's more a possible safety issue for us and our furnishings that feeds that belief and behaviour, not a safety issue for the cats themselves. They are pretty self aware with their own bodies. And as long as they have a scratching post or your house has a matt, they keep their nails pretty healthy all on their own. They are just very sharp, so we prefer to keep them shorter to protect what WE care about. The belief they (need) their claws cut, leads to the belief de clawing is ok. When de clawing is the same as cutting their toes off and very much not ok at all for any reason.
      I agree handling areas pets don't normally enjoy being played or fiddled with, while they are young regularly is a good plan for anything that could come up in their future.
      But cats don't "need" their claws clipped, it just makes them slightly less sharp for a short period. And was not worth the safety risk you put yourself and your face at, with trying to do that.
      And wow $8? Surely you meant $80, in Australia it costs $90 simply for a consult, not anything done after that. The service of claw trimming or literally anything else would be then added on top of that.
      If you adopted some adult cats and been through that and are a youtube user sounds like you would really benefit from visiting Jackson Galaxys channel. He is that cat guru and everything he says is the scientificly and medically backed current facts that we know about cats and how they work, mentally physically and emotionally.
      He'd agree with handing their feet when young so just incase if you end up with cats who do not use posts or matts well and do not keep their claws in check themselves and mostly for indoor only cats, it is a common thing for people to trim the very tip of indoor cat claws to prevent destruction of their property and to help with safety to themselves if their cats have behavioural problems. But it's not something they "need" done to be happy healthy cats. " to keep themselves safe" That's just not true. The length of their natural claws are there to help keep them safe and help them grip and climb safely among other things.
      We just dont like the damage it can cause.

    They are so adorable! I wish I could have a kitten too but when 3 out of 4 people in the family is allergic it's a big no. I have a hamster though so I shouldn't be complaining but the kittens seems like a lot of fun. Such a great addition to the family!
