Many thanks for the clear informative guide. I fitted a nextbase kit & mount earlier today following your video step by step. By the way the pull cord on the glove box isn’t for a light switch. It links to the white tube which slows the opening of the glove box. A bit like a soft close toilet seat. 😉 The white cylinder is a kind of tubular bellows (not the Mike Oldfield style). Thanks again. 👍
Nicely done. I'm sure there are lots that allow you to use that kind of fuse jumper cable direct to usb rather than having an additional 12 volt cigarette lighter type affair. Is there a reason you did not do that?
Firstly thanks for watching and the comment. The camera requires USB with a 5v voltage supply. You need to use a regulated supply to drop from 12v to 5v onto a usb connector. The first time I installed a camera was on the Mk4 Mondeo (see video) and I used a USB power unit to do the job. This I felt was a waste of money as the camera comes with a cigarette lighter plug to usb. It’s cheaper to just buy a cigarette lighter socket and use the cable with the camera.
