Just for fun... I placed Presence of the Master and Planar Chaos in this deck! Most cards are artifacts so the Master just makes sense. The Chaos is well just a fun mini game! I also suggest Soulbright Flamekin and Kusari Gama. Great includes. Arcmage
Zirda is my first own cEDH project, since I started out playing cEDH with both a Fblthp and a GE-Kefnet list last year and now want to play something that isn't blue :D
Hey DementedKirby, excellent list and analysis! I love, as usual, how the elements tie in with each other to make for more efficient slots and synergy. Because I play boros and hate, I have a few suggestions: 1) Walking ballista as an infinite mana outlet. It also gets the activated ability reduced by 2 from zirda, so you can use it as creature removal and grind. 2) Shattering Spree/Wear//Tear/Abrade: the deck is fragile against a bunch of hate creatures, enchantments and artifacts. I feel 37 lands might be too much especially with all the draw you put into the deck, so cheap interaction could help as well. I also noticed you mentioned that sending the wincon from the grave to the bottom isn't ideal and was reminded of Soldier of Fortune. He's better when you play divining top/scroll rack, but he can be used as a hatebear to stop people from tutoring to the top as well as getting your combo pieces from the bottom and making your divining top/scroll rack more efficient. Keep up the excellet work
Thanks! Glad you liked the video! Ooh! Those are excellent suggestions! I already updated the list on tappedout to swap out Earthquake for Walking Ballista since that's a no-brainer. I like Shattering Spree since it can be replicated as well as Wear // Tear since it's versatile (although Disenchant might be easier to cast since I want to save red for the burn spells). I include more drastic responses like Hour of Revelation and Planar Cleansing just in case the table is full of annoying things. These also hurt me, but at least it gets rid of them en masse. But as you said, 37 lands might be a bit much since the curve of the deck is pretty low. So I could probably swap out one of each snow-basic for some responses. Soldier of Fortune is definitely a card I'm familiar with since it can really screw over the tutors that topdeck what is searched for. It's also good with Sensei's Divining Top for myself. I also considered adding Scroll Rack since I already have Land Tax in the deck. That way there's more redundancy of these kind of effects. So far I only have 8 fetchlands as ways to shuffle the deck but they're pretty much a one-time use thing. So finding some slots for these cards is definitely something to consider. Once I find what to slot them in for, I will update the tappedout list. You made some good recommendations so the cards I for this deck are: • Earthquake → Walking Ballista • Shattering Spree → Planar Cleansing • Soldier of Fortune → Snow-Covered Mountain • Scroll Rack → Snow-Covered Plains I still have to see and test a bit more for including Disenchant and Abrade, since those seem like solid targeted removal for the reasons mentioned. At least for the moment I haven't had problems with the deck. But if the deck were to be increased in power to try and win at more competitive tables, those kinds of spot removal are definitely needed. Once again, thanks!
Seems strong. I've been working on a list for weeks, but I have to balance it to my playgroup and power it down. That shit is giving me headaches... I can suggest Glory as a great piece with all the discarding going on - 1 white for protection is insane.
Glory is definitely an interesting suggestion! Especially since Zirda just makes it cost W like you said. It's great protection for Zirda; definitely an inclusion worth considering! How much would you have to dilute the deck to tone it down? Maybe eliminate any tutoring to make it less consistent?
@@TheCommanderTavern I'm not sure. I feel that the infinite mana path push the deck in a specific direction that is hard to balance. Right now I'm trying to explore token generation with cathars crusade, purphoros and slate of ancesty as pay offs. Eldrazi Displacer is also a card that definitely has a slot in the deck because it is stupidly good with Zirda. Though, the power level could still be way too high.
@@7250Glen You shouldn't feel bad about pushing the power level of your deck just because your current playgroup isn't doing the same. You can still brew the deck and play it in other pods in an LGS or talk with your playgroup to see if they're willing to also brew higher-powered decks. You shouldn't inhibit your creativity simply because of the people you play with. That being said, if you'e happy with the token direction you want to take Zirda in, go for it. I think it's a unique direction for sure.
There should be one somewhere. But that budget deck when Zirda came out is probably no longer budget. Any budget version made now will now longer be budget within the next year. MtG card prices fluctuate too much to reasonably developing a budget deck that will remain forever budget. It depends on when you want to build it, which will make for drastically different decks. I know this response might not seem as helpful as you'd want, but keep in mind the date / time frame when searching for budget lists of commander decks. This could've been a $100 deck when I published it, and then been triple in price today.
@@TheCommanderTavern you're right I guess that wouldn't work. I'll find a deck to put Celestia Dawn in eventually! In my defense the original rules text on the card does look like it was an activated ability

KitsuLeif Those are definitely some great decks. I like that they aren’t the “Tier 1” cEDH commanders that everyone builds.
@@TheCommanderTavern I like to snack some surprise wins with those "weird" commanders :D
KitsuLeif Definitely! Nothing more satisfying than winning with the element of surprise!

It wouldn't be very impactful but Celestial Dawn could be run in this deck too
crovax 13 Celestial Dawn definitely seems like an interesting pick. How’d you use it in a deck like Zirda?
@@TheCommanderTavern I'd also have to play Nacre Talisman, but basically I'd be able to pay one to untap permanents as I cast spells
crovax 13 Nacre Talisman is a triggered ability, though. Zirda won’t reduce the cost for it.
