I just want to say regarding NW Mission 4 and basically all of Ace Combat 4: Omega 11 gets shot down pretty much in every mission. Maybe that's Grendel, acting covertly throughout the Continental War then faking his way out of the theater. NW Mission 7 is unforgivable. My thoughts on NW mission 10 is that if Grendel got in and out before the other squadrons arrived then, very feasible. It's been a while since I played Ace Combat 6, but I seem to recall the final mission having several united squadrons attacking Chandelier. I believe Mobius(AC4) and Galm(ACZero) make appearances. It would make since for them to squeeze another pilot into that mission, albeit retroactively. In case anyone reads this, I've never played Ace Combat Northern Wings and NW in my user is not a reference to the game.

Even if the Nordennavic story was a contradiction in some parts of the Ace Combat timeline, I would've really liked to see a Northern Wings in the traditional Ace Combat style. It would have been cool to fly the fictional aircraft along with the real-life ones as well as to fly the Arkbird. I imagine the Arkbird mission in the traditional style would be akin to a precision bombing mission.
Mission 4 would force the player to only choose a standard aircraft painted in the scheme of an ISAF operative, and have them blend into one of the task forces as a random named pilot.
Also I do agree that Mission 7 was way out of its way to change the timeline, and that a mission to intercept and destroy a Belkan squadron tasked with providing air support to the Arkbird while watching over to make sure Razgriz/Arkbird doesn't get targeted would have worked better to maintain/add to a story's canon.
For Mission 10, a VTOL mechanism that can allow a plane to hover in one place could be an optional strategy for the player other than to stay low to the ground and hiding around the mountains while risking crashing in a fashion similar to the canyon flight missions, and I feel that as crazy/far-fetched as the Antilon system is, I feel that if it had an underground hangar made of radar-blocking materials, it could just pass by Emmerian satellites/surveillance planes and stay unknown until the point where they pull it out as a last resort to interfere with Garuda team's mission to destroy Chandelier by sending long-range attacks. Grendel 1 would just be flying around for most of the first half, gathering data while avoiding being detected by enemy radar, then when the mission update pops up, and targets appear, Grendel 1 breaks cover and attacks the Antilon directly while avoiding its anti-air weaponry, and large movement. A primary objective would be to disable the Antilon's shield system by shooting what I imagine would be the energy projectors mounted around the Antilon and then taking out its legs to stop its movement before targeting the TLS and then finally in true Ace Combat fashion, fly in through a small opening burst open by consecutive attacks and destroy the core inside before flying out.
Just some thoughts on how some missions can be tweaked to create a timelime that stll can be considered canon

What if Nordennavic turns out to be the twist villains of Ace Combat 8 , secretly masterminding the war of the week and causing the deaths of millions to neutralise an imagined threat and Grendel Squadron is the final boss? But instead of valiant heroes they're creepy jingoistic killers who; to keep themselves sane from all the dirty black ops skulldudgery they've done; have justified every act of violence as their victims deserving it. Day in and day out, someone else is killed without warning or provocation for king and country. And after all the years of secrecy, murder, deception, and violence, there's nothing but arctic cold in their souls.
The irony is that none of the countries would have ever thought of attacking Nordennavic if it weren't for the aforementioned skullduggery, so the beating they get in the last act of the story is something they brought upon themselves. Grendel One dies having brought war to his country as the Allies storm its capital to dig up every dirty secret of the past few decades. Plus I mean, people who spend decades murdering other people in secret with no direct provocation are probably going to be more than a little psychologically disturbed. You'd need to compartmentalise your empathy to live with the guilt of Grendel Squadron's work so it wouldn't be hard to turn them into villains.
As for the final dogfight, as far as I know Ace Combat's never had a final boss that's a squadron vs squadron fight. Especially not with an entire squadron of super planes. The closest comparison would be the dogfights with Hugin and Munin, but this would be an endurance match against a dozen or more black ops death squaddies who've shot down thousands of aircraft between them over the course of more than twenty years. It'd definitely be a very unique final boss; but if you really need a superweapon to give it some flair, they could have some airship mobile base come in to support them.

    • @DerangedGodOfMischief

Solutus Eversol I could see the big surprise being that at first you think the conspiracy is the work of the Grey Men, but it turns out that Nordennavic knows the stereotypes about Belkans just like everyone else does and was setting them up as the fall guy. They didn't even have to do much to shift suspicions, just feed the right bits of intelligence regarding actually existing Belkan ultranationalist cells and sneak some supplies to them.
It's a simple, but clever deception that works because you're so convinced that conspiracies and ultranationalism are a Belkan, Erusean, Leseathan, or Estovakian thing you never stopped to think about how any country can go down the same path of paranoia and cloak and dagger skulduggery with the right conditions.
It'd work well with Ace Combat's themes.

@@DerangedGodOfMischief Absolutely. When the truth leaks out, imagine some survivors of the old enemy squadrons (Alect, Grabacr, Strigon) taking it to skies one last time to fight against Grendel for all the death and destruction they've done. Imagine those survivors using superplanes of their times (or just thematically appropriate) - Alect survivor uses a last copy of fully-finished Fenrir (with autonomous optical camouflage, but no HPM and only two LSWM), Grabacr survivor uses a copy of ADFX-02 Morgan (with TLS falling off rather early in the battle and ECM being too outdated to work reliably) and Strigon uses CFA-44 Nosferatu (ADMM have problems tracking and his aim is not terribly good, making EML shots miss pretty often). Even though the times have changed and those superplanes aren't as super anymore, the survivors are still willing to give it their all.

Imagine that Nordennavic was somehow behind the Belkan war, which caused most of the other conflicts in the series not directly tied to Ulysses.
If the Belkan war never happened, then the Circum-Pacific War wouldn't have either, Osea would have never lost the Arkbird and wouldn't have built ISEV until much later; stopping the Lighthouse War. Also there's evidence that the Usean coup d'etat was orchestrated (or assisted) by Belka to get some field trials in for ZOE. which they only invented because they lost most of their ace pilots to some madman in an F-15.

Interesting video, it has helped me understand the story of "Northern Wings" more throughly given (at least the last time I looked) Acepedia had very little to go on, most likely for the sake of minimising spoilers as much as possible.
I do believe 9 of the missions, as well as the little bits of lore mentioned throughout can fit into the current cannon. Albeit with minor alterations. For one, Grendel Squadron would not use the NRAF's own planes, let alone in their own colours and insignia. Instead they'd be flying ISAF, OADF and REAF aircraft hide Nordennavic's involvement in these conflicts, plus the squadron would have to operate under different callsigns to hide the identities of the pilots incase of capture.
Mission 7 of course is complete bogus since it obviously contradicts the established continuity
...Unless Blaze just so happens to be an elite Nord pilot which probably explains why he's pestering Bartlett with orders in the first missions lol

They were 3 things that I were think about Ace Combat: Northern Wings:
    1) Mission 10 is “absolutely fit to the Ace Combat canon”.
    2) Mission 8 must be removed from the story, So that the Nordennavic could not “fell guilty” for their actions. Instead, Mission 9 will be redesigned as Mission 8, while the new Mission 9 story will be like this: Grendel squadron will escort the aircraft that have the VIP inside. Later, its turn out that VIP is an Emmerian Agent who have to reported the Emmerian command about the location of the Estovakian Aerial Command Cruiser, called P-1112 Aigaion. This will lead to the Ace Combat 6 mission 9.
    3) Some missions should changed its story so it could fit with the Canon.
    - Mission 4: Grendel squadron were send to destroy the Experimental Anti-Air Laser Systems that hidden inside the mountains to open the route for the ISAF air forces, led by Mobius 1, to destroy the Northern Eye radar stations. This mission must happens, hours before the ISAF attacks on the radar stations.
    - Mission 5: Nordennavic should order their astronaut to fire the arkbird laser weapons on the 2nd Yutobanian fleet that en route to the sand island base, yet undetected by the Osean military. So, Grendel squadron will going in to mop-up the remaining fleet.
    - Mission 7: Grendel squadron were task to destroy the Grey Man’s escort fighters that were send to protected the Arkbird, to open the route for the razgriz squadron to destroy the Arkbird. Yet, Grendel squadron have to face against the Grey Man’s top ace fighters to prevented them from reaching the Arkbird before the Razgriz.

I think NW:Mission 10 would make sense due to no missions in AC:6 having a mission to do with a 4-legged walker and Garuda Team not being damaged on arrival because Ghost Eye would have pick up on the walkers position, so in the end, yes Mission 10 is canon

I know this was a year ago, but heres what i think about mission 10
I dont think its possible, unless estovakia is freaking rich
They have a lot they need to back, the chandelier, their fleet of that big ass airplanes, not to mention their own army
They went through Ulysses, civil war, its already a miracle that they have enough army to invade emmeria.
Unless they have a secret stockpile of golds, they wouldnt be able to make a walker like that

    • @franzicoy
      @franzicoy 2 года назад

Belka built Estovakia's Aigaion, so the walker may also be Belkan-made, considering that much later, Osea and Erusea use the shield technology from the walker. The former for the Arsenal Birds, and the latter for the Alicorn's barrier drones.

Is it messed up of me to wish that there might have been a mission or two that were assassination missions. Like to be a unknown boggie who shot down oh I don't know..... Mobis One, Blaze, Galm 1, or maybe Tailsman. Like they saw something they shouldn't or Nordennavic thinks that having that skilled of a pilot on the loss is a security liability (I can definitely see it for Galm 1 the Demon Lord, since he's a mercenary and has no loyalties to any side having that skilled of a pilot with no leash or collar is kinda dangerous)

What if the Estovakian military junta went even further and more insane by invading Nordennavic, I do believe the Nordennavians increased their military presence along the emmerian border to prevent a possible stovie invasion that would’ve been the case considering the threat that Estovakia posed with their aerial fleet, the flag ship of the aerial fleet the aigaion that carried the nimbus cruise missile, the chandelier, the mighty estovakian navy which was armed to the teeth along with the aces of strigon team. I do believe that did happen during the Emmeria-Estovakia war. This is not confirmed ofc, but what if actually happened, the possibility is high, and also what if things escalated into a military standoff which could’ve been possible as well considering the estovakian military junta were extremely hostile

Never heard of this, big fan of the AC series, my first game was 04 (my favorite game to this date) and played every single one afterwards
Personally I would love a remastered version of this game for all platforms with more missions added to it and to fix the missions that don't work in the AC History
I think the last mission is a great idea but not the way they executed it
Not the walking machine thing, nah, Emmerian intelligence agency would have been able to pinpoint that thing
Maybe something like flying through a tunnel (every AC fetish) to destroy Estovakian air defense mainframe that would have obliterated Garuda and allied forces from entering the airspace of Chandelier
    That's my thought anyways

Anybody else think that the Grendel Squadron is behind the Wellow Incident?

    • @moalzaben5554
      @moalzaben5554 2 года назад +1

But weren’t all the unidentified aircraft shot down because I remembered reading about the wellow incident and all those unidentified aircraft entering belkan airspace were all shot down by the belkan air force’s silber team.
If we want to assume Grendel squadron then we might think that the Nordennavians secretly teamed up with the Wellowans and sent in their air forces into Belkan air space to probably test out the rapid reaction time of Belkans, Grendel might’ve been the only ones to escape while the wellowans weren’t so lucky, so after the incident I presume Wellow and Nordennavic’s intelligence agencies passed this info to the Osean Federation so that A) they fund Ustio’s succession and train their military in how to counter the belkans or how to slow them down, B) so that Osea would be prepared for a future war with Belka if necessary, but Belka easily invaded Osea and the rest of the nations nearby in the first stages of the war, so maybe the Allied nations used the knowledge they gained from the Wellow incident to counter the Belkan Air Force. After all, neutral countries will do anything to stay neutral even if they have to cause havoc, and neutral might use their intelligence agencies to work with Osea’s CIA and Yuktobania’s KGB to help them out and thin return the neutral countries stay neutral. What do u think mate?

What if Razgriz squadron was a propaganda made by some freelance journalist from Sand Island and they never existed? And that, Nagase and the others never escaped, just common fighter pilots working closely and blindly with Thunderhead in the airforce and were actually promoted as the Razgriz squadron members by Mr. Cargo and Genette to uplift morale? Or that Grendel squadron were Razgriz all along?
They never flew again because the real Razgriz fly for Nordennavic. But that's just a theory! A heretical theory!

Think of it both of them are mercenaries aka guns for hire, they fly for any Air Force if payed a good wage, so maybe the Nordennavian government secretly established fighter pilot program that turns ordinary people into deadly mercenaries and then send them out to any conflict that might threaten nordennavic’s neutrality, think of it guys look at Belka they might’ve threatened nordennnavic’s neutrality and same thing with the usean rebels they wanted to launch an ICBM at the Yukes so the same thing could’ve happened to the nordennavians. I dunno it’s just my thinking

The game is a game made in Strangereal that fictionalizes battles that actually happened, changing certain names and events. Particularly in helping cover up any Ghosts of Razgriz involvement, combined with some fictionalized incidents just for giggles...
Pretty much, until Harling's papers were declassified in 2020 revealed the true nature of matters, along with how the Grey Men have been meddling with pretty much everything in the world since after the Belkan War of 1995.

    Garuda 1 and 2
