They're definitely different. Black bottle smells thicker more caramelised to me. I own both full bottles. The new version does get richer over time. Black bottle juice is more red.
This perfume has not been reformulated at any point since its release. Love Don't be Shy in general just gets redder, sweeter and stronger over time... no matter what the packaging. I have a 3 year old bottle that- when I first bought it, it was a very light orange.. but now it's very dark red and much much sweeter. People purposefully age their LDBS for this very reason as when this high quality vanilla note ages, it gets sweeter. Obviously the black bottle is older, so it's redder and will perform stronger. Packaging has nothing to do with it, it's just age.
Ah..much awaited topic for me..even though I already know the answer :( just wish good stuff stopped being reformulated or discontinued..
I just dropped $500 to get a OG black bottle. It should be here next week. Excited to try them side by side.
As far as this big secret about reformulation and fragrance. It’s usually not that the fragrance has been reformulated, and more likely that the quality of ingredients has changed. Maybe the marshmallow accord or the vanilla, or the orange blossom accord has changed. So the formula is the same, but just the brand of ingredients has changed. Makes more sense then changing a formulas doesn’t it? It’s possible that a particular type of vanilla isn’t available anymore so they had to switch to a new one that is slightly different in its scent profile, thus changing slightly the overall scent of the perfume. Or in this case when EL took over they went with all around cheaper ingredients and thus the scent change.

I own the new version, it’s suitable for a hot humid summer wear surprisingly!!! I’m really happy with the new one tho haha and it lasts 10+ hours on my skin!

I just discovered this scent from a sample I received from sephora and I love it. I think I'll get a dupe though, the price for the original is quite high and I hear there are some excellent dupes. Thank you for this great video! It's very interesting.
I think many perfumes get reformulated due to regulations (think civet) 😬 or other ingredients that are no longer ok to use and also to update to newer generations maybe. I never smelled the original but I have a sample of the new one and a Juliana’s dupe. They are similar, I think the dupe is stronger at first but mellows out faster. LDBS is fluffier and smoother throughout and last longer even though it’s not as strong as the dupe. On my skin anyway. I like them both, but Kilian is just so nice 😊

Hello I totally believe love don’t be shy has been reformulated for the simple fact the Og one has a sweet tart smell that I love so much and the newer one doesn’t have it all but it smell very similar it’s not the same at all and I must say the newer one got a lot darker after two months of having it stored in the original box it has a dark reddish color and my older one is dark reddish brown if that makes senses. I now regret selling my extra bottle 😢
I bought a dupe of it and love the scent sooo much . Hope swiss arabian makes a dupe to it soon , as its too expensive for me 😮😮😮

I love the Extreme version the best (to my nose it gives more of a citrus marshmallow vibe) almost like Lira-Xerjoff. Don't care for the newer verison, but never smelled the old version, I guess that's the one Rihanna wore or wears.
The juice from the old one is much darker and smell intense .Definitely!Its reformulated!
So I have decants of the old and new versions of Love Don't Be Shy, and I completely agree theyre different! I don't think there's a question it was reformulated. And I also agree with your take on the differences. The newer version is a little brighter and less dense than the original. But still beautiful imo. I also agree that original would be my first choice if I had to choose. Not quite sure why they thought it needed reformulated. I have the Extreme as well and I'm not a big fan of it. Mostly just a more citrus floral take on it to my nose. I have tried Be Layereds dupe of the reformulated (current) version of LDBS and it is very similar. Like you said there are a lot of dupes of this perfume now. Which is nice. Another perfume I was worried would be too similar to this one was Oriana, and I was pleasantly surprised I find it different enough to own both. I can't get enough of that one either. I love it! I also had Sintra and it was probably closest to LDBS out of all of the non clone perfumes I've tried, and that one I would definitely consider redundant if you already owned LDBS. Very similar!! The only detectable difference to my nose is that I get a little more of the orange blossom in Sintra. (Especially noticeable to me because I'm not a fan of that note.). The old version was sweeter smelled like marshmallow dust. The new one is more floral. I want the old one back!
This perfume gets sweeter as it ages. The vanilla note in particular gets sweeter and stronger over time..
As it ages it turns darker… but I did make sure to secure old bottle

I recently got this new white bottle and it’s lovely but the yellow juice stains clothes which is unfortunate. Also being that it’s a more delicate scent … I’d prefer it to last on clothes bs skin.
I am also wondering if perhaps they are catering to what they think the newer generation of customer base will prefer? Lighter and airier scents.

I believe the difference is the Civet, the original has it but the new does not because I believe it’s no longer able to be used. Civet is obviously taken from an animal and it’s outlawed in the US because it can spread SARS. 🤷🏻♀️
I just received by bottle of the newer ldbs and it doesn’t last at all on me. I tried a sample of memo’s Sintra and the dry down was incredible. I smelled orange marshmallow all night. I’m sorry I didn’t purchase Sintra instead.
Give the newer bottle LDBS time to macerate. It will get better with time trust me.

I think just like vitamin C, acid they oxydized.
They are/ perform totally different. I had the original one and tried the new one (without knowing) and was totally shocked. I then asked the official Kilian representative if they changed (ruined) it. She said „No, no, nothing changed.“ I said „Look! It’s even a _different_ color!!“ „No, no, nothing changed.“ 🙈🙈🙈 I went home and smelled the original - for me it’s worlds apart. I am sorry, but in comparison to the original the new one is trash. On its own - I don’t know - hard to judge now for me.

New version is quite bland. I adored the old one, but the new one is a pass for me.

So obviously the black bottle is older, so it's redder and will perform stronger than a fresh new one. Packaging has nothing to do with it, it's just age.
The new one is absolutely NOT longlasting. That’s why I don’t buy it…. After the hype because of Rihanna so much people buy it it was so fame and now they have reformulated it’s absolout now worth the money. It protects zero…

No, Rihanna was wearing this when it was already repackaged like 2018 or 2019 or whatever. Notice how I said repackaged and not reformulated. This perfume gets darker and sweeter and stronger as it ages. I have a 3 year old bottle that when I first bought it, it was light light orange. 3 years later it's very VERY dark red and the vanilla is a lot stronger. People think that the black bottle is different but thats only because it's obviously older. Age you new LDBS perfume and it'll smell exactly like this.
