Teaching is a tricky occupation. Mum sent my brother and I to an oil painting class. I didn’t learn anything about painting in oils because she was obsessed with how I held the brush. Apparently I was holding it incorrectly. I don’t paint in oils anymore and I still hold my brush like a ‘pencil’ 😊
Oh Christine! Hope that cold exits soon! More annoying than anything. Love this image and love your soft wash. I do watercolor and yes the paper makes all the difference. You do have an artistic eye so not surprised you could have gone to art school! You really have the talent!🥰
Sorry that you’re feeling poorly, hope you improve quickly💕I love this image. And it seems so simple to make quite an impressive card. I like painting with the Distress Oxides and also with the Distress Watercolor pencils. They give a very artistic result.
Beautiful. I have just bought weathered wood oxide and it is a grey/blue, might be good for water shadows and I finally found pumice stone. Our local store does not carry a lot of colours so took a trip with my friends and found this fantastic store, then had lunch out. Took most of the day but very rewarding. I can see why you enjoy your outings so much.
Lovely card Chris. I really love that design, it's very detailed... I'll have to drop some hints to my family for Christmas present ideas. Hope you feel better soon & thanks for sharing.😃🍂🍃🍁
Really lovely card. I think its his other leg. Your course sounds like fun and its always good to learn something new. Some watercolour papers are smooth on the back side. Thanks Christtine, get well soon and have a beautiful day xx
Interesting to see you watercolouring. I’ve just done a free 30 day online watercolour course and I’ve learned so much. One thing it’s made me realise is that with a decent set of paints I don’t need to buy any more distress oxides. Decent paper definitely makes a huge difference.
@ I can’t claim to be an artist but I can do a lot more than I could a month ago. I’m happy to recommend the course to you if you want. It’s free and you paint a 3 inch square every day with a different technique. You don’t need to sign up, just watch RUclips videos and try yourself.
I am not grasping why you think that watercolor paints, regardless of quality, would substitute well for distress oxides. I have both, and frequently use the oxides to watercolor with, but I don’t see how one could stamp well with either clear or rubber stamps using watercolor paints as “ink,” even if one bought an empty ink pad to fill with watercolor for application purposes. To my knowledge, watercolors have no resin or pigment inks in them, although they do contain a binder and pigment color. Certainly, if you mean one could paint watercolors for filling in images and creating backgrounds rather than for tamping, I would agree that watercolors are probably superior to the oxides, but, given that I stamp consistently, I like the oxides well enough for painting and I like that the color palette is already mixed for me as I am a lazy person …
I have a couple of these stamps and love them. My colouring skill leave a lot to be desired though so I have only used them monochrome so far. You have inspired me to try with my distress oxides. 😊
Lovely stamp and coloring! Last night I was subscribed to your channel yet this morning I found myself unsubscribed. I know that has happened to many people, but it was the first time it had happened to me. I'm glad I went to your channel and found it since I was curious why there wasn't a new video from you in my subscription feed. Your Andy Skinner workshop sounds very exciting. I had never heard of him until now so it's always fun to discover new artists.
I bought one of that series for the sentiment - oh the places you will go - BUT, I fell totally in love with his last release which has the little distressed/gungy steampunk sort of robots?? I guess you would call them? They are so adorable to me, and I have gotten all but one of them, and I am on the hunt for that one. I really liked his video demonstrating using them with his watercolor stuff, but I am NOT buying more colors of anything until I use up some of my current possessions! I hope u feel better; thanks for sharing this.
This🎈is Ace Ms. Chrissie, ♥️it!!! If you want a smoother surface & a more vivid painting you ought to get a hot pressed 140 lbs/300 gsm 💯 % cotton watercolor paper. GSM (grams per square meter) refers to the weight of the paper. The heavier the paper, the higher the number of grams per square meter & generally, the higher the perceived quality of the stock. This is sometimes referred to as the paper's grammage, hope this helps. Thanks for sharing & please get well soon😘!!!
You need a Hot Toddy drink Christine wish you well soon, love the card the image is beautiful can’t wait to see what you will have learned from Andy Skinner. 🙂
There's nothing like red rubber stamps. IMHO. Generally, I get a good impression first time round even straight out of the package. I love to use watercoloring on my cards. I have absolutely no training and don't really know what I'm doing but it's relaxing and I'm always pleased with the results weather I'm using actual watercolors, watercolor pencils, or inks. I think that section you were unsure of may be his other leg? Love Andy Skinner's images. I don't I have any though. Any chance the other side of that watercolor paper is less textured? Sometimes the two sides aren't exactly the same. It's a lovely card and sentiment. Take good care of yourself and feel better soon.
Thanks Karen, I’m with you on the relaxation front, I find water colouring really calming. I agree about the bit in question being his other leg, …when I had photographed it, it looked much more obvious !
Card is beautiful. Thank you. Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you so much!😊😊😊

Thank you! Cheers!😊😊😊
I see the boy sitting on a dock. And the other part you questioned is sky between his knee and the balloon string. Love watercoloring.
I was thinking it might have been his other leg ! I’ll ask Andy when I see him !
Lovely, I really love this stamp!
Me too!❤️❤️❤️
