You cut, plated and pressed the LP I ordered wonderfully! And in 6 weeks!
I appreciate the attention to detail and the quick turnaround.

Definitely interesting and magical how that process works. I would have loved to have seen your pressing process as well.

The mastering engineer doing the cut is, to my mind, one of the most talented members in the process. As you mentioned, s/he determines levels, tonal balance , playability and all the rest that makes a good sounding record - like dealing with inner groove distortion which complicates a set and forget mentality. I was reminded of Todd Rundgren/Utopia's debut album which, at the time, had a super long side - way over the optimum 22 min. - at a bit over 30 min (the other was a bit over 28 min.). The individual that cut that one was presented with a true challenge. Yes, it did suffer from a compromised level, but the fact it got cut and was playable is remarkable. Thanks for the look at this part of the process, Tony.

Thanks Tony, very informative. I Listened to records for years and never knew what was involved in cutting a record.

Great video. Tony Visconti (Bowie's producer) said the same thing -- you lose db. levels once you go over 20 minutes on a side.
