Good points. I used to dismiss the 'content' aspect, because I once heard that (in writing anyway), one rule is 'ideas are cheap; execution matters more'. But I'm no longer sure being dismissive of ideas/content is smart, because some ideas can be better than others, and have certain appeal others don't. For example, once I designed a chicken mermaid, because I thought putting a fish and chicken together would be funny. I don't know why, but everyone always likes that piece and it got over 300 favorites right away. However combining other things might not have as much of a ring to it. And so ideas might be like recipes; if you combine just the right things that go together in harmony, they are not subjective and some can be more appealing than others. That is my theory!

That's a terrific way to put it! Yes, some ideas just spark something in others. I wouldn't disagree with the "ideas are cheap" concept either, but I always viewed that advice to mean "it isn't enough to JUST have an idea. You have to do something with it!" Many people have ideas but never put them on paper (or whatever medium). And Mer-Chicken sounds interesting to me, too. :)

If furries werent online all day drawing art they would be sitting in a dark room disassembling and reassembling pistols and rifles trying to achieve some level of mastery in something, anything to make them selves feel useful.
