    This video over delivers from the title. From here's how I find some wildlife near me to I am going on a plane to the Arctic! Wow musk ox in the Arctic, that looks amazing! You are right that understand the species and habitat and then figuring it out on your leads you to those experiences that are your own. I do that sometimes even though it may be easier to find a species where everyone else goes. Can't wait to see how this adventure turns out.

      Thanks so much for the feedback, John! I thought this would be a fun species to use as an example and the adventure definitely didn't disappoint 😁 I'm excited to share it all here in the coming weeks! Yeah, understanding the relationship between an animal and its habitat is one of the best things you can do while looking for wildlife, in my opinion. Most of my top wildlife encounters were a result of finding animals with this method.
      On a side note, thanks so much for picking up a calendar, I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy!

    Well done! The video was more than worth it when you expressed your joy when you spotted your first musk ox! Thank you for sharing the tactics you use. I especially appreciate understanding how books can lead you to lonely places rather than the "hot spots" outlined on the internet.
    Liked and subscribed!
    P.S. The George Washington print is one of my favorites! :)

      Thanks so much for watching, for your support and the feedback, I really appreciate it! Yeah, I try to rely on books as much as possible for that reason. I visited an internet "hotspot" recently and quickly left because it was just ridiculous. So many people all trying to photograph the same 4 animals and all getting the same bum shots because the animals were so fed up with people 🤦‍♂️
      I love that picture of George Washington, one of my favorites for many reasons!

      😆 you may need to wait for the next ice age for that to happen. All joking aside, this is my preferred method to use while looking for birds and mammals around my town or more local areas. I know my example was a bit extreme in the video, but this can be used with any wildlife.

    Great video! I have to say that i also feel that books often have much better and more information available, and it even feels easier to pick up the book from the shelf than to find via google. But some online databases where people store their recent observations are also sometimes needed. Looking forward to musk oxen series. I have never seen those nor will i ever, therefore I am very grateful for taking us along.

      @JimmyBreitenstein  2 месяца назад

      Thanks Ott! Yeah, I definitely agree with you, that's one of the reasons I much prefer books. Even if I use some of those online databases, I prefer to look through the surrounding areas, rather than the exact locations. Just a personal thing. This was a fun adventure and I can't wait to share it here. Thanks again for the feedback!

    Always love your videos, and this is the exact sort of video I've been trying to find for a while, so thanks, Jimmy! I've been trying to find foxes and coyotes in my local area to photograph, but haven't had much luck, despite how common they're supposed to be, so I'll try to keep these tips in mind while trying to track them down.

      Thanks for watching and for the feedback, I'm glad the video was helpful! Yeah, keep putting the time in and you'll find them. Canids are a fun family of animals to photograph and once you peg their habits, they become much easier to find. Best of luck to you!

    I did the musk ox tour in northern Quebec and it was awesome - also a long time dream. Was a bit disconcerting at times as we just saw the shoulders and the colouring and shape gave the impression we were seeing a grizzly bear. Nice adventure and thanks for the tips.

      Thanks so much for watching! Great question, I just updated the description with some of my favorite books for various species.
