That part of BGC reminds me of Bryant Park of NY. The one with the 3D billboard reminds me of Piccadilly in London. The food stalls are so Asian. Lol I would stay in BGC if I were you. Wish we have one here in the states. But with all the crap going on in the news here in the US, sad to say many feel anxious being around a lot of crowds here. You are privileged to be there.

Geez..Sorry to hear about your bad experience of Halloween in London. What part of London was that? I went there recently for my bday. Although it was in a nicer neighborhood, I never imagined that kind of thing would happen in London. At least you seem to be enjoying your life in BGC. It still amazes me that a British guy vlogs about the Philippines and make BGC Manila life looks fun and exciting. Lol 😁
It's Northeast Monsoon wind now flowing through the country. It is cooler compared to the Southwest Monsoon and will last till February or early March. January will be the coolest month. I usually get sick during the coolest months of this period which starts in December.
I used to live in California Gardens, and I keep on getting dry cough every flu season. My friend who also lives in Antique, everytime he goes to manila, he gets this really bad coughing and clogging as well. So I guess it is the air quality indeed.

It is true, the only down side to Grrenfield is it is situated along the major thoroughfare of Shaw and EDSA with all the traffic fumes from the cars and jeepney emissions. I wish the subway is already build as to reduce the traffic jams along EDSA/Shaw. Life would be much more pleasant for the residents there.

Mergim, to prevent respiratory problems, take a bit of virgin coconut oil (on a full stomach) when you feel symptoms start. To get rid of cough and phlegm, drink turmeric regularly. We take the Yamang Bukid brand. I hope this helps.

We don't celebrate Halloween officially, but it is being celebrated in places like BGC, and in some wealthy subdivisions. And it's getting popular every year. However, we officially celebrate (El Dia de) Todos Los Santos and (El Dia de) Los Muertos on November 1 and 2 every year around the country.

The crowd is a good sign, it means the pandemic is over. People do trick or treat here, Mergim, but it's mostly young people and in richer neighborhoods, a lot of people don't and are conservatively Catholic (not a bad thing). The ban on alcohol is to discourage violence.

Late 1990's, when I was in elementary, we didn't have Halloween, but what I observed as a student in the Philippines from elementary to high school, we had United Nation celebration in October. It has always been like that. Kids will wear the national country assigned to them. For more populated school, each homeroom (section) or grade level will have a representative to wear a national costume of the country assigned to them. There will a competition to get the title Mr. & Ms. United Nations. It's like a pageant contest. Sometimes, it involves money for a cause (fund raising). Also, in our protestant churches, we have Christian Education Month in October and in other churches they have Bible Month in October.

I have allergic rhinitis but when i'm in Baguio or similar places with fresher air, the symptoms don't recur. So i guess ,mine has to do with the dust and fumes in the metro.
Also if in Ortigas, we prefer the condos on the block across the adb area which is nearer the 3 malls and farther away from edsa and shaw blvd. Less noisy and less fumes
You can't move to Mandaluyong if the air makes you sick...Ginger tea and calamansi are great to cure colds.

Er, Monday 30th, yesterday, was a public holiday for the local barangay elections. That's why Sunday turnout was high. And it's a payday weekend/holiday. All elections have liquor and gun bans.

Halloween is like new to the Philippines. Traditionally, we do not celebrate it. It's not in our culture. What we have is like a family reunion, but a holiday (no school/whole day off or half day off) to clean our relatives' grave or to travel and visit our relatives who are dead already in the cemetery or travel and visit our relatives in other place (provinces/cities). Roman Catholic and other non-denominational Christians have mass/service at church, especially November 1 & 2, to remember the saints' testimony/ miraculous things happened and dead relatives' good deeds in the past.

I suspect your intuition about your respiratory problems are correct Mergim. Most parts of Metro Manila like Binondo and Mandaluyong allow jeepneys and tricycles and certain other public transportation while BGC does not.
I’ve noticed when you meet women with fair complexion you would ask if they are Filipina? Caught it few times. And with this, asked Ruby if she’s from Visaya cuz she looks like from Visaya. Mind you Sir, a lot of women has lighter skin as well in Visayas or Mindanao. Not a basher, just noticed this.

People think BGC a beautipful custom design city ,I found it boring, nowhere near Taipei Taiwan. You can almost riding bicycle and scooter on pedestrian walkway very wide open most street. The whole country are spread out from North to south ,not concentrate in 2 cities like Manila and Cebu Philipine.
I think its beautiful to most people who don't live or work within BGC perhaps because its clean and provides parks, entertainment and eating places that exude a luxurious and relaxing ambiance that's starkly different from what is offered in their own neighborhood. But beyond that, I would agree as I do find it boring, besides the fact that its too far from where I live. I can live with the high rises but most people can do without the luxury brand stores that many visitors really can't afford. It would be nice if they set up a badminton court or sports center there, a library or book store with cafe for a quiet peaceful relaxation..
..mind you BGC is not in Manila but in Taguig City-what you saw in the video is only one of the streets in BGC which is 240 hectares wide..what is boring is your country's city.

While Terra 28th Park is for kid‘s playground amenities. There‘s Fully Booked store at BGC Highstreet where you can buy or just read a book in silence. Starbucks is also inside at the 3rd flr, I always went to this place when I lived in Makati before, nice and cozy.
