As a composer that lives in 2 worlds; jazz and classical (& some pop), I found it encouraging that Chilly etched out a niche in this rigid musical landscape. Kudos!!

Wonderful little portrait of a great man. Thank you Deutsche Welle for the calm way this interview was conducted and edited. Silence is important in music

What a beautiful interview, much food for thought. I love Maria durch ein Dornwald ging, ever since I was a kid, this was the only Christmas song that stuck with me. Now I realize, maybe it was exactly because it was not the forced joyfulness, but highlighted her struggles.

I love this man. The way he describes Wagner is hilarious. I feel the same about the idea of having to wear something fancy to respect the music! Music doesn't ask for our respect like that. Anyone can play any music, it's all available and shouldn't be limited to fancy dickheads trying to show off how fancy they are. Most music doesn't even feel fancy.

It's interesting that he said a classical musician might play Still Dre with a lot of free rhythm, relative to metronome-perfection. Ironically, as I'm studying classical Piano, I can't help but notice how apparently important it is to keep a straight rhythm. Talking the classical era, not so much just "classical" in general. You can be more free with Debussy apparently, but Haydn? Oh no. You have to have a straight rhythm there. No exception. No freedom allowed!

Chilly/ Doughty/Missy/Reznor/..........think it's not too much to ask for them to produce mewee. Do you think that throwing Patton/Tricky............n Beck in too might make things awkward?????

Canadian inferior culture?! How dare he? Look at all the masterpieces of painting, literature, the giants of philosophy and science? It's not like when you say famous Canadian you think about an old hockey player or a lackluster politician, elected for his deceiving charm. Joke aside, it is so obvious that even Chilly Gonzales, when he talks about the Canadian culture knows he is a very fortunate cultural exception.

he said that his grandfather considered canadian culture to be inferior. it was explicitly not chilly gonzales own opinion..
