Ok but like no cap, huge props to Leia for pretty much putting everything she had into taking care of Jude, what with fighting off Alvin whilst keeping Jude out of harms way, & even taking a bullet for the guy.
One of the best scenes in this game, the voice acting is amazing. Don't know why most people hate the english voices, they're all very good IMO
Well I'm sure there are actual dislikes out there, as well as those who honestly prefer the Japanese versions to the English... but online? Most of those can be chalked up to the vocal minority haters :/

Sure the paycheck means something, but actors (of any language) generally do put effort into the voices - how much depending on the role, their preferences, and so on
And even if they are in just for the money, that's still not a bad thing to me ;)
no, you made that clear :) But those who use that as the basis (among other things) that the Japanese version is infinitely superior/better in every way, and all English versions suck because they're lacking...

I personally don't think Jude's behavior before this deserves so much hate. He obviously had feelings for Milla, and she died right in front of him, and then he gets back and Muzet tells him Milla NEVER was Maxwell, and her whole mission was a lie hardwired into her brain by the real Maxwell. I sort of feel like this "broke" Judes mental state, as in like emotionally traumatized him. That's just my logic though.
+Xaveze Yeah I just came from a thing where someone was bashing him for not caring more to see how Leia was doing and fighting Alvin instead. They even got the scene wrong and thought that he was unphased by Leia getting shot and then attacked Alvin over something he said about Milla. And when proven wrong they were trying to justify their hate by saying he should have went to check on Leia. Great idea! Go over and leave yourself defenseless and get shot so now both of them are dead and then Muzet can come and kill Alvin because that's probably what she would have done rather than send him back to Elympios.
At least he wasn't in a long state of depression that damages his relationship with everyone as well as destroy his character development like some FF hero that I know.

I feel a lot of people just forget that Jude is like, 15, because he usually acts more mature, but that's book smarts. knowing how to keep a cool head in battle and how to fix a broken limb doesn't help a broken heart.

The greatest scene in the whole game for me, to be honest! TuT Jude is in a sort of mental breakdown state, and Alvin I just fail to understand but he seems lost and insane. When Leia got shot though, my jaw literally dropped and I felt Jude's rage. This scene was so well done, the facial expressions, the voice actors everything was so perfect! ^u^
I played Milla's stroy first and for a moment I thought she had died and I almost cried at the scene, but then I saw that she didn't and that game me hope. I'm playing Jude's story now and I still got emotional with that scene. Now that I think about it I should have played Jude's story first, o well. This game is easily the best game I played in 2013. I can't wait for the sequel.
Even though I beat this game, watching this scene reminded me of how good and deep this entry is in the "Tales" series. I love the character development and inter-personal stories in this. I'm going to go back and play this on a higher difficulty.
The only thing that annoys my about Jude's behaviour is that he wasted food. Duuuuude. That low-polygonal bread looked tasty. D=

Wow, I can finally take this scene seriously because the sunglasses aren't there blocking the emotion in everyone's eyes.
One of the best sequences I've ever seen in a video game. This entire part is just perfect.

Noctis Fon Zero It's called depression, and it happens to people. In any good story, the hero will hit his/her lowest point and that's exactly what happened here. Just because he's the hero doesn't mean he needs to act like it all the time. I notice you're pic is of Luke from Abyss, who is a perfect example of this. He destroyed Akzeriuth and killed hundreds, if not thousands, then he kept trying to make excuses for it. What makes him a good character is that he grew past this, and became a real hero. Jude does the exact same thing. It's character development, and this sequence handles it beautifully for both Jude and Alvin.
+yedffgd Think of it this way. You just saw your best friend/ love interest murdered right in front of your eyes, and you couldn't do anything to save her. How would you feel.
yedffgd Sorry but jude is no hero, just a badly writen character on a rushed game, dont ever compare him with Luke who's character developement was billion light years more interesting than jude's
besides, they clearly wanted to create an emotional scene where jude tries to overcome a hard moment but ended up with a forced awkward idea,
I honestly wanted that moment to trigger something special in jude, like a growth of his personality, fill him with black rage and pain, shifting his mind set, changing him and his childish vision of the world to become a man assuming his mistakes, facing the problem with resolve and willpower to never let it happen again because thats what a true hero of a JRPG game should do, all that wraped in an emotional scene, then would come a mature Jude vs Alvin in an epic fight
but what we got ? a depressed immature character who even whishes for his own death prefering to cry rather than waking up, turning his back on life and his friends, meaning no trigger, no resolve no lesson,
if the majority of Tales fans finds this ok, then you're just encouraging the devs to create more lazy blank immature and stupid characters with no efforts, so just forget the idea of seeing an epic hero like Yuri in the futur because you'll looooove the moronic retards they're creating for you
one more thing, you just gave me a description of what is a depression, but we're talking about how to handle that depression to make us stronger, meaning you're off topic.
Noctis Fon Zero I love Yuri as much as the next guy, but not every MC should be like him. How dare a character who's pretty much lost their reason for living give up on living, right? I'm not trying to say that Jude is quite on the level of Luke or Yuri, but he is NOT poorly written. You want a lesson? Here's one: you don't need to become vengeful and murderous to grow up. That's not who Jude is, and having him filled with "black rage and pain" would not fit his character. And for the record, the actual lesson in this scene is Jude learning to make his own choices and not depend entirely on others, like he did with Milla throughout the game.
all RPG I've played so far... this is the best scene I've ever encountered. including the betrayal of muzét, the death of milla and jude's resolve. damn.. this is so good.

There are just some people who just don't know greatness when they see it even if it's right in front of their faces. The Tales series has always had amazing voice acting, but Xillia is the best thus far.
WHAT THE HECK IS THAAAT
This is one of the most intense scenes in the game. It's also one of my favourites.
I didn't notice this when I was playing the game, but after Leia got shot Jude must have put bandaids on her chest (compare 17:40 with 18:42). Guess it would have been awkward for her to ask how Jude got them under her dress
Yeah I heard that too. They had to rush it for the Anniversary.
I just wanted to say that I like Jude's side better because of more content and depth.
Best scene of the game, and probably one of the best RPG scenes
And this is the reason why I prefer Jude's side.
I mean come on... Milla's side was okay, but added few to her character.
But on Jude's side you see the rest of the party fighting with their emotions and growing up. The Alvin fight, the Ivar fight and of course the Agria and Presa fight. How can you just skip that? In Milla's side they briefly mention it, that's all.

We all have our stupid moments; it's part of being human. And out of character? They were in the darkest depths of hopelessness and anger, both of which are known to make you do crazy things... what did you expect?

I can't tell you how much I was screaming at the screen for Jude to stop monologuing to Alvin and save Leia.
By far my favorite boss battle in the game.
Milla's side adds some to her motivations and growth. It also shows you the plight of the spirits (shows you first hand how spirits are killed by spyrite) and gives some actual characterization and scenes to the Four Great Spirits,which the game always implied had a very tight relationship with Milla but you never get to see (making the Four Great Spirits so livelyand informal was actually pretty nice).
i thought the English voice actors did an absolutely amazing job,i guess some people just can't stand how different they are, go back to the ps1 era, listen to a few games that had voice acting, THEN tell me they did a bad job
The Tales series always seems to have awesome 1 on 1 boss fights. Xillia was no exception. This was my favorite part in the game so far.
I do agree that seeing the four great spirits was really nice. That was actually my favorite part of the Milla specific events.
But I think that most of Milla's motivations and inner conflict was already worked out when she sacrificed herself. All we got to know was her decision really.
And most importantly when you play Jude's side you feel like you got Milla's developement as well. Playing Milla's side though, the sudden change in the rest of the party is just weird.
That last part is true,although it is only in the Milla sections in which we see the bonds Milla herselfformed with the party. In the Jude section she was mostly cold which makes some sudden outbusrts,like comforting Leia, seemto come out of nowhere (Leia's scene is basically are flection of early Milla exclusive scenes where Milla converses with Leia and openly declares her admiration for her). It seemstomelikeMilla'sside is meant to complement Jude's, it mostly shows behind the scenes stuff...
leia is really the best girl... she is so sweet, jude is too blind... but i know milla is great too, she inspires him...
I don't think so Alvin has had this coming for a long time with all his betrayal moments and it shows off Jude's strength through his anger and stuff

Anyway,from what I hear the truth is that they ran out of time (the game was already delayed a year) so they had to scrap a lot of ideas. I think the original idea was that both routes were going to have MORE exclusive scenes, with more sections of them on their own and more time to develop their individual characters. That'sactually part of why they made Xillia 2.

You made him look easy. When I did this ,Alvin kept combo-ing me to death. I had to redo this fight like 5 times before I won.
I think this is one of the best scenes in the game and that it accurately shows the grieving process Denial, Anger, Dispair, Bargaining, and finally Acceptance.

These scenes piss me off so much. Leia shot through the torso and dying on the ground? Nah, not important, let's have an extended heart-to-heart with the guy that just shot her. Like come on now.

I too was a complete empty shell😓 everything I've ever done was practically pointless as well. We don't have powers like millia. If we did it would make us happy. Certainly me.
and here i thought i was the only one, do they seriously think its better to have a high pitched voice for a main character who's suppose to be rather manly? i am so glad our gokus voice actually sounded pretty dam good.
i don't want to rag on japanese voice acting, i find some animes have rather good voice acting and in some cases, epic like quality, then you have THOSE voices where you just wonder how the hell they thought it was ok?

Jude shoving away the food tray seemed to be a bit pushing it, but otherwise, his character is very realistic.
I played both sides and this is far one of the best scenes of all the game, I know he had a hard childhood and life, he lived desperate and confused but I really don't understand the feelings of Alvin to Milla. I think he admires her, a lot, but he loves her too? like Jude?

I honestly think is better to let Alvin win, because even then it feels meaningless for him and as he is lousing more than Jude even in that situation.
idk, i just think the scene just looks better, like alvin looks even more angry. he had accomplished his mission in his face with no one to stop him, yet he just couldn't do it. also, playing him on hard for a first playthrough is asking to lose to him anyway. lol
yeah, it was my first time trying a tales game on hard so early, plus i didn't expect one combo to almost kill me and burn to finish me before i could heal. cheap bastard...

Didn't like this game very much compared to most tales games. But this scene really sticks out to being one of the best moments in all of tales.
Eh, I've never really found a noticeable difference in difficulty between the difficulty modes in the Tales games. Easy fights are still easy and hard ones are still hard, mostly it just jacks up the enemy HP so fights take longer than they would've been otherwise.
The English voice acting is fine.

I think this would have been better if leia actually died. Sure it'd suck to lose that party member and character, but I feel it would have had way more impact.

+domincwild And then you should also lose Alvin for being the one that killed her. That way they could have added some extra characters, maybe Julius since he kind of knew Alvin (it would have been cool to foreshadow the next game which was clearly in planning since both games were only a year apart). And give more length to exploring Elympios rather than just one town and a couple of dungeons.
Alvin was confuse on what to do kill Jude and Leia go home or not to. He was fight himself on what to do Jude had to beat some sense in him for he and Jude need to do

The people who can't stand English voice acting are mainly weaboos. Me on the other hand, I find things that I can't stand in Japanese such as Goku's voice. I want to bang my head against a wall every time I hear it.

This scene single handedly made me stop playing the game :/ I love this game but this part was extra depressing and a game never caused that to happen to me before. I'll continue after a while only because a friend who chose milla told me that she's not dead and he didn't understand what I was talking about so i showed him this lol this part just made me feel like this truly was the ending to the game where milla dies, the group goes M.I.A (possibly dead) Jude becomes an empty shell (cont.)

Guess we think differently then. I feel that tales games are very story driven, and watching an emotional part like this would ruin a bit of the experience for me. It's like skipping to the seventh chapter in a book, reading it, then going back to the beginning. But once again, just my opinion.
I think sam Regals voice is really nice but Jude is SO ANOING>
all of the voice acting is spot on, everyone's complaining about milla's voice as well, even though if you look at her backstory, her VO is 100% accurate. the same goes for jude

Ugh, yes,meeting those type of people does suck. My personalattitude in the subject is thatit's up to personal choice. I've found some English dubs that were leagues above the original,and in other cases the English actors just sucked in comparison.It's really all case by case hence why I hate generalizing.

I have to agree, this scene just about killed all my enthusiasm I had for the game. I personally hate how out of character and stupid Jude and Alvin are. I hated losing control of the game for so long just so Jude could realize the painfully obvious. Alvin's constant betraying and the team's forgiveness was at least somewhat tolerable up until this point. I mean he legit was trying to kill both Jude and Lelia (almost did too). I mean I get wanting to go home, but killing your friends for it?

Jude didnt have any REAL emotion coming out of him on this scene, this is probably the prime example IMO about how can it be bad
(Note: Look up this scene in japanese and you can see that jude is desperate to no end once Alvin shoots Leia, here he feels like an empty shell asking "Why, Alvin?"

Well acted or not Jude's voice sounds like shit.Who the helldecided that such a grating high pitched noise was fine for Jude? Everyone else had fine VA's,but his was just horrible. I care little about how well acted it was if I'll get a migraine just hearing him.
