- In this video we give you all the information about printing solar cells. Using ink jet printers or reel to reel printers, solar cells can be printed. There are various types of inks available in the market, some of them can be used in the ink jet printers. There are inks for photoactive layers as well as auxilliary layers such as ETL, HTL and transparent contacts.
People have also tried making inks at home.
I think this is the best video I have seen yet on solar energy as it applies to my requirements!
I've been working on world's only 100% ion propelled series of aircrafts with onboard power, they are very lightweight devices. I would like to buy, make, or ideally team up with someone, to procure some solar panels (film) for the crafts so they could potentially fly for much longer periods of time, I have not however, been able to find any for purchase that is lightweight enough. The cells would need to be on a substrate with an extremely light aerial density. Perhaps this method above would work, but I think there might be many details to get the cells light enough and working to specifications. If anyone has any positive suggestions, please let me know.
Excellent intro to the topic of printing solar panels.
Ty never thought of this. Your ideas and content are what I have been needing.
You probably dont give a shit but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Byron Aarav Instablaster ;)
@Fox Chaim thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Fox Chaim It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out!
@Byron Aarav glad I could help :D
very interesting but until prices come down ill stick to purchasing panels
GOOD WORK SIR, THANKS
Thanks for the video. Do you know how I could get a specific shape printed? I need triangular panels, not square. Thanks
You are great.... Bro 👍
I'm not finding those homemade ink videos on RUclips, anybody got a link?
very informative TY for sharing
actually helpful
What would be the efficiency
#awesome
Really good video
So I guess you have priced materials based on sizes which can be purchased not on amount needed per cell, if this is correct how much of each is used in the cell and what is the full cost per cell.
very interesting thank you
I have a paper printed that uses ink what Kind of ink I can use, can I use it for printing solar cells?
Why cant somebody print on sails, the efficiency is not of importance. Even with 11% efficiency when many sails are big as over 50m2.
Why aren't you doing it?
@@dansv3872 I dont have enough knowledge of this solar printing.
@@walterbanci7269 Is never too late to learn something new right? 😁 Take it as an opportunity
Fantastic video as usual, thank you! So where would one buy the best value printed cells, preferably nano I imagine?
Hi, I am interested in this technology, and I want to setup 1000 sq metres of these solar ink panel so please give me some information regarding imports of these panels in large quantity...
I want to buy thats . How to buy and how much.
The cons of printed solar cells is that of there bleak levels of efficiency scoring at just 3%. Compare that with the average mono crystalline solar cells for the same kwh which is usually between 17-22%! Sadly there exterior longevity cycle isn't great neither, only 2-3yrs in that respect, compare that to their mono crystalline counterparts which lasts for upto 30yrs usually!
Okay so admittedly there's still plenty of room for improvement in certain areas but do cover a more broad range of applications. But unmistakably they sure as hell do have alot of potential covering numerous applications such as solar roads, ev charging points and solar street lighting etc! With that being said, Professor Paul Dastoor and his team at the University of Newcastle really do have a 'Tiger by the Tail' here as the level of applications are truly endless even though these may still be very early days. Who knows what level of R&D (research and development) reveals!!
Put a liquid nano layer over the top maybe will slow degrading....what is cost for making these
can u make a video on how to print ..
Interesting technology but way too expensive for the average DIY person. I question how long an ink based photo cell will last.
print a fresnel lens material for protective layer.... more volts!!!!
Any lanse need some distance
👍
Can you explain the cost of printer ,ink, and material ?
IT´s all in the video: Ink will cost you around ~2000$. Material is cheap (Plastic or metal). Cost of printer? Well, you can use any printer you have! there aren´t costs for the printer listed here!

Your information about efficiency of the PVs is outdated. Organic PV, based on nonfulleren have 16%-17% pce. Perovskites already have more 25%. Hovever perovskites have poor stability. But this problem will be solved soon.
thank you for that comment. I'm very fascinated by the concept of printing solar cells.
@@SolarpunkJackal you can see the nrel chart, if interested in this theme.
I want to do this
Where is the super glue mathod ?
At last Total is you cannot purchase and make it cheaply
Why don't they use transparent aluminium instead of mesh (alon) seen as copper and aluminium share properties
10% is proximate to 22%? Not liking his math.
