- Known for their unique brand of highly melodic death metal, Swedish band Arch Enemy have been staples of the genre for almost 30 years. While their style is very aggressive and firmly rooted in its death metal origins, it is also punctuated by virtuosic guitar playing and melodies that sound like they come straight out of a classical symphony. Since their first album Black Earth in 1996, the band has gone on to release 10 more full length albums as well as a handful of EPs, live albums, and a cover album. This video focuses on their main-line full length album releases to demonstrate their creative evolution over time. Which era is your favorite?

Khaos Legions is such a killer album. Through the Eyes of the Raven is so good
Masperpiece.
Burning Bridges one of my all time favorite albums!
That is also the album I am most familiar with! Had it on my iPod back in the day lol
It's not that i can't listen to it
But I'm so much used to Angela/Alissa than it feels "weird"
Ill give it another try
Awesome job dude!!! Arch Enemy is one of my favorite bands and amazing job picking songs! Silent Wars is soooo damn good! You crushed it all man. Bravo! :-)
Thank you!
Doomsday machine is one of my favorite metal albums. 05 Metal was amazing!
Sat here head bobbing the whole time, great vid!
The production quality of this is great. Enjoying every second of it!
Good to see you playing, thanks \m/
what a great selection, representation and execution. Always a joy to watch and listen to you man!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you like it
Woooooooo. Thanks for doing this man. 😄😄
Nice work!
I love this band so much and you did a solid job of rhythm and lead execution. I recently ranked their discography on my channel and would say Ammot is probably my favorite guitarist in the melodeath arena \m/
Love your channel! I like th effort to choose some lesser known songs that are really unique and interesting!
Excellent stuff mate!
Thank you!
Love it!!!! MORE PLEASE ❤
You know it!
I like that you included some deep cuts here, great band!
AWESOME!
Good stuff!
Very nice work, you play well and it sounds nice!
The Liiva era was the best! Great video
Love that you included Vengeance. So underrated kick ass track... Never Forgive too
Yes! I actually never heard them until I did a deeper dive for this video, but they definitely stood out
Check out Cult of Chaos, Slaves of Yesterday, Skeleton Dance and Through The Eye Of The Raven. These are hidden gem songs. I can't get them out of my head.😁
You make some baller ass videos dude. Your Thrash Then Vs Now series has made me go back to playing thrash. I straight up went back and learned Vio-lence’s discography because of your videos lol
Thanks so much! That’s awesome to hear 🤘🤘
Fn love AE, some of these riffs I haven't heard before. I'll have to dive deeper into those earlier albums.
oh Silverwing...jus delicious harmonies. Great job!
Haha yes. The burning bridges album and silver wing intro in particular is what first caught my attention from this band back in the day. I’m a sucker for harmonized guitars
@@ThomasHogue who isn't!?
Great work! Rise of the Tyrant, is an album, that NEVER gets talked about, for whatever reason. I personally, think its on of my favorite albums ever.
just like my feeling to Iron Maiden's A Matter of Life and Death lol
My favorite AE album.
Doomsday Machine ia such a solid riff dungeon, I love every song on that album.
Fantástico 👏🤘🤘
2005 very good album. "Nemesis" is classic
Anthems of Rebellion and Doomsday Machine are my favorite albums
Great job on some less known songs! Doomsday Machine - Khaos Legions will always be the peak for me but the title track Deceivers is easily top 5 for me. Absolute banger.
Not really into Arch Enemy but those were awesome!
Great deep cuts! Not your average selection
Mí banda favorita 🖤 aunque extraño a Angela Gossow
You took me to my youth while I was randomly listening to what the mp3 threw at me...
Amo Arch Enemy 🤘🏻🔥🖤😻
I could have swore Burnign Bridges was b standard?!
Excellent video either way.
the original is but in root of all evil they did it in c, so pick your poision
CHILDREN OF BODOM MYB???
also amazing vid
I enjoyed six minutes of good riffs
Anthems of Rebellion, and for the best sound I think it's Domsday Machine 🤘
when the phrase "everything in the past was better" makes real sense
nice. what gear you used?
Anthems is my Favourite, but you cannot deny that Micheal ammot is a riff machine
Yes, he is amazing at what he does!
I hope we could have the Guitar Tabs if there's any .. thanks .. really tight and aggressive playing..
I found tabs for many of these on songsterr and ultimate-guitar!
Why silverwing in C? However, amazing and beautiful job
Black Earth FTW!
2002 - 2011 is my favorite
Question! Is the trem on the BC Rich blocked off? If so what'd you block it with?
I never blocked it off. It still floats, although I rarely pull up due to breaking strings like that in the past 😅
@@ThomasHogueFair enough!! 🤣 I have a Jackson King V with a floating trem that I blocked off due to it having stability issues, and like your BC Rich I have the locking nut bolts removed, so I was wondering if you did the same thing.
I used two stacks of coins wrapped in electric tape in my case.
Why did you remove the locking nuts from B.C Rich??
fuck yeah
ARCH ENEMY evolution was like Game Of Thrones seasons... specially for the last.
i like pre 2000 the most, but overall arch enemy is very consistent. jeff loomis is another great modern Addition. if just Angela and Alissa just werent so overproduced on the albums. Johan had such a nice raw and brutal sound.
Whats ur drum vst?
Superior Drummer 3
@@ThomasHogue Very nice sounds! Liked ur video also a lot!
How dare you not to play "The day you died" in Rise of the tyrant
Production of the covers is cool, the sound, the riffs, but you have to improve on your vibratoes a little, cuz of it simple melodies sometimes sound amateurish.
Doomsday Machine is my favorite album. Songwriting is best but sound quality or guitar tone is not as good as later albums. The Root of All Evil re-records their best old songs with modern sound. It's also my favorite.
Wages of sin is their best album don't add me
They used to be my favorite band. They were great back in the late 90's up to the mid 2000's then everything they wrote all started to sound super formulaic and samey. Can't stand the current iteration of Arch Enemy.
Personally not 1 of my fave bands, but then I'd watch you do abba riffs... No don't ! ;)
Don't give me ideas 😆
involution* they r so generic since will to power, war eternal was the last good album
Не похоже и играет так себе в целом.
best are all the first albums until wages of sin. Then khaos legions until will to power. Decievers is cringe.
Anthems of rebellion will always be top tier in my eyes
