Because - 1 potential error : are you saying the justice system of ( insert country) is always perfect? If you get it wrong with death penalty you can’t do anything to reverse a mistake in legal system.
2 cost it doesn’t save money : in a country with, any pretence of proper justice system, due to appeals etc far higher than people realise - most of the time more than food, housing etc of course you can ignore giving chance of appeal to “ save money” - sounds like a great system to just to get rid of political dissidents then.
3 death penalty doesn’t to act as any sort deterrent- so given 1&2 above why do it?
4 level of punishment, this is an opinion- unless you believe in magical afterlife justice, I would suggest someone rotting in jail for decade without hope of ever leaving,is better punishment for some crimes than a quick painless death. Here is also a hypocrisy eg USA if it is somewhere where majority do think there afterlife punishment - well why is it the state jobs to do that or don’t you trust your own god to do it ?
5 Civilised ethics ; another matter of opinion I know but unless your in an backwards country that still gets it morals from book written the Bronze Age etc but surely it’s hypocritical to say to citizen things like killing is wrong & evil- except when the state does it. Secondary evidence look at the countries that do the most executions- are they really the sort of countries that people are very keen to stay in if they have a choice?

But the thing is that type of penalty is irreversible comparing to putting criminals into prison. So, there is significant risk that governments can abuse death penalties to kill political opponents. Also that gives birth to another type of abuse, so-called liberal democratic society puts pressure on governments they don't like for having death penalties. The people of Iran must stay in for awhile longer, while your courts are prepared to perform a great injustice for your people, there is nothing to gain from going out now.
To those who are willing to listen,
From the beginning, your protests started out of anger due to violence, but violence does not end violence, neither does violent actions, and the words that start them. You’ve enraged the courts by your own hands, and only by removing your hands from their throats, May compassion come to your people again.
However few people are willing to listen to this, so do not let the numbers deter you.
A day comes where these storms will end, and the one who has endured them will be able to make the most of what is left; where mercy comes to your people again, and the sorrow of those who are gone may be lessened.
Even till today, those who have cried for you not to follow the path which led to their death, do not have their voices heard; because you do not value the well being of your people; over the causes you go out for.
The only law which may be passed to give rest for your people, is the law which is already in affect.
If you are patient, merciful, and willing to forgive; you will be able to stay in, while those who burn with rage go out; again you will be a light for them, allowing them another way for their voices to be heard.
When one cries, and they have someone to comfort them in their tears, their crying is not in vain; but those crying in the streets, have nothing to comfort them.
There are those of you who may be led to death because of your actions now, but allow this persecution to come without resistance, then you encourage others to help end the violence as well.
And those who stay in, persecution comes to you as well, but hold on, your gift still has value.
In an act of mercy, nothing is impossible.
Were the courts ever justified by their actions, words and brutality in this time, no; but they also need the light now, so hold on even for their sake, so they may remove the hands that suffocate your people.
Then the loss will be lessened on both sides, and friendships may be found to heal tour lands while the there is time.
Even just a few lives changed, makes a difference.
To those in the courts willing to listen, remove your authority, and you will see what your people need in service, and you may help your people see.
Count the cost from where you have fallen, and know on both sides, compassion opens the doors to peace. Take your persecution, and your mercy will show you the way, even in death.
Let all who still breathe go, however; continue on this path, and you will not stop burning, just as those who continue to go out, will also still burn.

In all honesty, I'm 100% for the death penalty. HOWEVER, it's obvious that it needs to solely revolve around demonstrable, irrefutable evidence (preferably video), and the crimes have to be extremely heinous. Repeat offenders are the most likely candidates (in my opinion).
I have *NO* sympathy for anyone who JUSTLY deserves to die for their crimes. But obviously, I'm not cool with any countries who toss it around randomly, or issue them without due process.

If someone is in prison, they're no longer a risk to the population, but if they are a risk to fellow inmates, they should be executed. Currently, in the US, criminals are placed in solitary confinement, where they are completely alone for 23 hours of the day and granted 1 hour of exercise. I consider this to be cruel and unusual punishment.

For example i think that child molesters should get a death penalty, someone (from Iran) might think that marrying kids is ok but a cheating wife deserves to die. There is no right or wrong, a lot of people face injustice and it's a horrible feeling. I think USA and Iran are both corrupt countries and can give death penalty to inoccent people, but because it's more common in Iran it makes it much worse, their religion is more strict and their women's life quality and accaptence is equal to 0.

Capital punishment, as it is practiced today, is pointless. It has no value as a deterrent, but it also makes no sense as a form of punishment, as nowadays the goal is a quick kill with as little suffering as possible. If someone brutally killed your best friend, would you really want for that person to be given this easy way out? And also, how much fairness is in the death penalty? Does a person who painlessly killed someone with one clean shot really deserve the same punishment as someone who tortured their victims before killing them? I am not generally opposed to the death penalty, I think there are situatuons that call for it, but at this point there is not a single country that applies it in a fair and logical manner. If you want to practice "an eye for an eye", then it makes no sense to serve everyone the same kind of death. Either truly practice "an eye for an eye" by letting murderers die the same way that they killed, or abolish the death penalty all together.
