I think the more one delves into the idiosyncrasies in the psyche of President Nixon, the more one realizes that unfortunately The man suffered from borderline personality disorder. It’s quite sad as it is A fascinating look into what makes men tick-Particularly men who said power. Notwithstanding the current holder of the office.
President Nixon has brilliant mind that few Presidents on Foreign policy but one must honestly did some damage to Office to President which took long time view in positive matter.
Nixon, as president, was actually a good one compared to Carter, Bush Jr., and Obama. Nixon as a man, however, is another story. He wasn't the type of guy you would wanna have a casual, off the cuff conversation with. He also wasn't the type of guy you would want to go backpacking with. He was poor at making small talk. According to one Secret Service agent who was assigned to guard Nixon, he said that Nixon was a smart guy "but if you set him loose by himself, out with the regular citizens in the world, I don’t think he could function." The only time Nixon enjoyed himself was when he was with his friends, Bebe Rebozo and Bob Abplanalp, but not with his wife and two daughters.
Abe Lincoln never resigned, yet he is regarded as the greatest president in American history. Now try washing your mouth first, lay off the baby profanity, so you can communicate more coherently.
You didn't communicate a thing to back up your argument. What does Lincoln have to do with anything you said? Simply because other presidents may have died in office or been in office when catastrophic things happened people tend to overlook Nixon's criminality and corruption and inch him up the rankings board further and further, but he only cared about himself and put his own interests above country every single time. Continuing the war even though he knew it was pointless because it was good for his poll numbers? The man was an absolute slime of a human being and doesn't even belong in the same sentence as the men you claim he has surpassed.

The divide between Richard Nixon and John Kennedy is wide and diverse. For instance: Kennedy would have embraced a discussion on Nixon's presidency at his presidential library, and would have been interested in it., and used the information politically. Nixon would want to have participated in any discussion on Jack Kennedy, and moderated the discussion based upon his specifications.
If you can rationalise anti Semitic and racism with “swagger” then I guess you say any bullshit and get away with. Very Trumpian... “he was only joking”, “he never meant it”... that’s fine to say all that but not as a politician where words can be deadly
I enjoyed the entire discussion immensely.
Totally agree. Top class insights, scholarship and discussion.
Excellent. Superb.
Great interview. Thomas and Naftali are really good.
Thomas is a superb journalist. None better.

Do you think it’s BPD or Bipolar Disorder?
The more one reads your comment , the more one realizes you have mouth in butt syndrome
"Nixon was one of the rare American politicians who actually read." Lincoln, JFK, being 2 others.
How about Theodore Roosevelt who wrote 11 books? Jefferson a non reader? Adams? Wilson, a university president? The list goes on and on.
@@khedsz1976 I was coming here to make a comment then I saw yours. I think you wrapped that up quite nicely. Exactly
Don't forget Truman who, I suggest, read more than the three of them combined.
@@daviddelaney9885 Because he had to. He was a college drop out. He had no formal education.
@@khedsz1976 Correct, although with all due respect, twenty-sixth Commander-in-Chief Theodore Roosevelt authored thirty-five books.
Nixon was a great president - highly undervalued
mad4669 and a criminal but bar that he was a real “star”
Crook, hypocrite, murderer.
Nah. Too much bad came out of his presidency.
@@niyomphusopha5375 Murderer? At first I didn't understand. Yes, he killed many of young people.
I think America is in danger of revising away the bad of Nixon. That is dangerous as people need to learn from history.

Excellent. Superb. Thank you ! 💐
Wow Nixon
I think that Evan tomas Explains straightworardly .
Interessante
Very complicated man

The one president who resigned in disgrace was better than those who didn't, you my friend have some fucked up logic.

How could the subject of Pat and Nixon's relationship come up and no mention of the physical abuse?
Scrutinize any president enough, you will find contradictions.
truly , enemy of the people.
Too much spin from this historian !!! MUST BE A DEEP NIXON ADMIRER RATHER THAN AN OBJECTIVE OBSERVER
