pretty sure there something like 500,000+ overpasses in the US alone, just saying. Taxes about to go to the moon to pay for those 😂

What the guy in the video should say is to accept your fate because this isn’t just a tornado this is an EF-5 tornado… getting to the lowest point won’t help and getting as low as possible in your car won’t as it showed in the movie (which would actually look like if an EF-5 picked you car up) I’m sorry but I’m finding something to hold onto in the overpass
Edit- this guy definitely didn’t watch the movie if he is talking about safety when an EF-5 is coming after you and you crash your car bc of debris.

i watched this video to find out "why overpasses are not safe shelters".
    i guess there isn't actually a reason.

A combination of factors... the myth of overpass safety has made people leave actual safe harbor to go towards overpasses, they act as a natural choke point for vehicles and with limited visibility tend towards crashes, the pass can funnel debris increasing likelihood of strike, it's impossible to get low under an overpass, and your grip strength is nothing compared to the wind. NWS and NOAA has had to debunk this over and over again because the myth persists to this day.

they're not safe because people think they are but they're not, magic word debunked.

oh, there is. The overpass structures act like a venturi, causing the winds to actually accelerate, which may turn your shelter into a death trap. There have been more deaths under overpasses, than saves. (And there's video on that too) Also-- if you're hanging on under there, the tornadic winds can shove all kinds of debris up under there too-- thereby crushing people to death.
