yeah , it truly did take long time^^ BUT still, totally worth it!! I was surprised that your nafta could actually throw over the stonewall, INSANE xD, thanks for the fight magpie and for great commentary, Apollo!
actualy this is the night asault of Tirgiciste the Wallahian capital wher the Ottomans brought 100.000 soldires and Vlad the son of the Dragon fought together with the Hungarian, Transilvanien King Mathias Rex and fought for the independence of Wallahia. So this is actualy a historical battel The battel was won by the Romainians but a year later they came again and Wallahia and Moldavia became vassals of the mighty Ottomans.
Quick suggestion to the devs. The Hungarians need to be more eastern, particularly the cavalry. IRL the majority of Hungary's cavalry was made up of Hussars and Cuman auxiliaries, here their cavalry is more like what an Italian or German faction would field.
unfortunately, historical accuracy is mainly worked towards for western and central european factions. eastern european and non-european factions usually aren't as well done in mods like this, though this one was kind of an exception and did better than most.
This is a battle in the late meddieval period. Hunyadi Mátyás's black army was a western styled mercenary army and the traditional asian styled light cavalry largely fell out of favour in hungary after the mongol invasion when Béla the VI. largely replaced them in favour of western styled heavy cavalry
Depending on the age and region. Western Hungary and Slovakia had more Western armies, whilst Center more Husars and Cumans, Eastern more Husars and Romanian auxiliaries, South had Husars and Serbs, Croats.
apollo i am from romania and i want to tell you that Vlad Dracula was educate in the Ottoman empire and he is famous not only because is cruelty , he is famous becouse he s night attack when he almost kill the sultan in this night attack he made the ottoma soliders to kill each other

Hey Apollo. What do you think about making a historical battle? I think you should make a Battle for Kosovo which happend 1389 between the Serbs and the Turks. I know it was later a bit, but i think it could be an interesting one. Keep up the good work.
Andrei Skobtsov Well honestly i think there was no winner. Both armies have been pretty much destroyed. Both leaders died. The battle and the aftermath are really poor on facts. The Turks couldnt won the battle, because there is not a mention in history that one army that won retreated. But also the Serbians didnt win either, because they couldnt defend the country, on the long run, with whats left.
The turks retreated because of the heavy casualties sustained, while the serbian army was just destroyed, pretty much. Also, it was the only time in history when an Ottoman ruler died during a battle, so that's a fun fact.
I think this is my favorite battle that you've ever covered. It's so dynamic in terms of the settlement and the storyline. Even little details like you pointed out in terms of fighting in between the buildings. I love the idea of militia infantry holding out the small town and falling back, and the idea of actually sending out a unit of cav to call for allies (instead of just giving a timestamp). This literally reminds me of when I would make scenarios at home when I was a kid playing with plastic soldiers. I've always had this random dream of being able to make one of these maps and this just inspired the hell out of me. I'm giving myself a couple years but damn this is what Total War should be.
And thats rare thing on the internet Pole and Lithuanian agreeing on one thing xD. On the other hand, let me be honest, Poles actually benefited more on allience with lithuania, than lithuanians on this allience with us.
Fuck off with your uneducated opinion. Gypsies migrated to the eastern european countries a long time ago. And Vlad The Impaler was a national hero who protected his lands from his enemies and scared them off for good. All that whilst winning the love, support and trust of his people. So again, fuck off with the uneducated opinions, I'm so sick and tired of them.
Apollo, I was wondering if you could do a video where you look back over all your past videos and battles and picked out the moments that were the most memorable for you and talk about why they stuck with you. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one that would like to hear you talk about your past battles and maybe learn a few things along the way and also enjoy some epic moments. For me it was your Napoleon Total War videos that got me hooked. Specifically the one where you and Fish fought together against two other players on the pyramids map. You both fought well, but in the end you were defeated.
This coming from a romanian guy, the level of detail about Vlad's army is so freaking great and on spot even the names are true to their history. Great battle, great scenario.
This the most insane battle i have ever seen, so many crazy moments and smart move.. ! 1212ad est de loin les vidéos que je préfère de toi, une heure de divertissement super agréable merci !

Hungarian player sacraficed 5 units of *GOOD* Cav instead of having 2-3 tier 1 spearmen block the way. I did find it quite cheap how the ottomans had a mini army awaiting for the hungarians
Nice! In the last few days I saw many of your videos, but I wasn't expecting to see Romania, my country, on the defending side. I visited Vlad Tepes's a.k.a. Dracula's castle, and I can say it doesn't look like this, but this architecture does look great. We and the Hungarians are neighbours, and even if we had our disputes, I guess we still have allied against a "pagan" enemy.
Rex is the Latin word for King, Apollo. Also, people will correct me If I am wrong, but I think that "Dracula" thing is a nickname from that period and he used as scare tactics. Dracul comes from the greek word draco, which means dragon.
Between this battle and the "Defense of Dale's Trading Post, there have been some crazy good battle replays lately. Loved the map and thought it was especially cool that the defenders had to defend the village. Created a realistic battle which I simply adore!
The Rex isn't the name of Mathias Rex. Rex is his title in latin language Rex=King. His real name is Hunyadi Mátyás or in english Mathias Hunyadi (You need to say the letter "Ny" just like the "N" in the word opinion)
I had never heard the term "sally" before but now I know what it means. There's always something to be learned from your videos. I especially like this battle, it makes me think of Halloween.
Don't let the video stray you from the fact that. Vlad III had control of his entire people so to prove this he placed a cup made out of solid gold in the middle of the town square of Tirgoviste. - no one ever touched it .
Just in case you need to know this for a future video, yes, Wallachia is pronounced in English as "Wall-a-kia" (the second "a" is a long vowel as heard in the word "ape").
Apollo , when you sau Voievod , that meen the chef of the army , it's like in the Byzantin Empire , the emperor will be called basileus insted of augustus . And btw , castle Bran is in Transylvania with was controled by the Hungarians in the 14th . Great battle and keep the good work (my Romanian soul cry when i heard you this battle also)
Wow Pixie Poo noticed Romania. I'm coming from Romani. Historical fact: Castle Bran is in Transilvania so it wasn't under the control of Vlad. He got his nickname from his father Dracul which was part of a cult. Dracul can be translated Dragon. Keep up the good work Pixie and if you can make more scenarios with Wallachian forces. Oh and by the way I'm in your call to arms group on steam and i played with you. Peace out from Romania!
Ima be honest, i didn’t watch this when you posted it, but i watched it 3 years later 🤷♂️ Anyway, the ideea is the armors, flags and shields are verry accurate on the Wallachian troops
Fun Fact : If you didn't knew Vlad Dracula was an Wallachian King (Modern Day Romania ) who fought the Ottomans and ensured the Prosperity of Wallachia and his Real Name was Vlad III Țepeș (in English Vlad the Impaler)
The defenders could of used the handgunners soo much more efficient it's insane. Epic battle tho, realy enjoyed it. Was a bit frustrating watching so much ammo left by the defenders but, ehh. Nice job overall :D
In Stronhold we had also a person that was named Vlad Draculeir , kinda different from the original name but you can still see for what they were going for.
The dracula's soldiers headwear is called cusma (pronounced kushma) in romainan P.S. The president Karzai is wearing it. Ceausescu also wore it. Voievod is pronounced vo-yeh-vod meaning prince
I've been ton Bran Castle. He hardly ever lived there, as it wasn't actually part of his territory. Bran Castle is in Transylvania, but Vlad Dracul's lands were in Wallachia, the flatlands to the south. The association of Dracula with this castle was a marketing ploy invented by the Romanian soviets in the 1960's.

In that time they were called ,,dracul,, that means son of the dragon
The hungarian general, matthias rex probably means he's the king(latin->rex) named matthias. So he isn't called Rex^^ which by the way would be waay too awesome^^
The guys with red and white checkerboard shields are definently Croats since Croatia was in union with Hungary and ottomans never really fought Vlad since Vlad was going scorched earth tactics. He impaled ottomans and left them on paths where the ottomans would cross and most of Vlad's army irl were mercenaries and those cool hats are heavily impacted by the ottoman presence
