  • While re-arranging my music room to make it more wheelchair accessible and also easier to record keyboards and vocals for my Neutral Earth band, I had to unplug and move all of my instruments and then set them all up again. During the process of setting things back up I thought it would be fun to record a quick jam session with the Make Noise 0-Coast & 0-CTRL along with the Arturia Beatstep and Alesis SR-16 drum machine.
I set up a simple sequence with the 0-Coast & 0-CTRL, then clocked the 0-CTRL with the Beatstep CV out. The SR-16 drums are synced with the Beatstep via MIDI. The 0-Coast random voltage is randomly stopping the 0-CTRL sequencer. The LED patch cables look cool.
To record, I just set up my iPod Touch for video and audio recording using the Sennheiser AMBEO Smart headset, making it a binaural recording. This enabled me to record live and listen back, with headphones and have it sound exactly as it did when I recorded it. Because I was sitting a little closer to the right speaker (a pair of Yamaha HS50M monitors) there is a slight pan to the right of center.
Then I just hit start and did some knob tweaking.
The Sennheiser AMBEO earpieces are fitted with omnidirectional microphones that capture the sounds in your environment just like your ears would. The resulting 3D recordings can be enjoyed through any pair of stereo headphones and make you feel like you are actually there listening live.
