- It's bad I don't know Spanish (honestly it's my own fault) but I've come to live by a new phrase after just 1 week in Madrid in July.
I don't know how locals can tolerate it, the ones who stay... how??

There's a reason why Madrid is empty in July (and August), it's because madrileños can't stand the heat. I'm from Spain and can confirm, she's not exagerating, don't go to Madrid on Summer unless you want to take a plane to another place.
this is true
I lived in Madrid during the summer only last year and I loved it! Guess I’m nuts but constant sun makes me happy.. keep going with your Spanish!
"estoy sudando como un pollo" usa esto
We had a couple of very hot days in the NL (30-35C) but tonight thunderstorms are expected and after that cooler days. Looking forward to it 😎
Another saying we have in Madrid:
"Madrid, nueve meses de invierno, tres meses de infierno"
Madrid has a very continental like climate. As opposed to the mediterranean climate, for example.
I was in madrid a few weeks ago, in my truck/hgv/semi. It felt like i was choking in there because it was that hot
"This heat, I cannot" xDDD I love it. Hang in there, Danielle, next week in Madrid is going to be better! Btw, "I have to leave" would be "Tengo que irme"
Hello Danielle, next week ( 19 august on ) temperatures will gradually lower ( max around 34-35 °C and nights abuot 20 °C ) in Madrid. I suggest you to come back to Madrid in september and october , better temperatures by then ( 25 °C with nights below 15 °C ). By the way , go Nord , to Asturias ( Oviedo , or to Potes ) or to Cantabria , you will be shocked to be in Spain looking as you were in the Alps or in nederlands or in any mild weather country in Germany or UK. It is just 400km nord of Madrid , in the "cantabrico " ( green and wet weather , temps mostly below 24 °C ). España is very surprisingly different once you move 400km away from Madrid either N ( Cantábrico ) , E ( Valencia ) , W ( Portugal , some 550 km ) or S (Andalucia) .... to the coast / Beaches
I learned spanish by listening to spainards in the bar . And reading spanish newspapers if did not know a word looked it Up. Besides just watching TV in spanish. Listen and learn..
Kom maar weer terug naar Amsterdam hoor. Volgende week is het 22°C en af en toe een beetje regen. Heel fijn 🎉
And come back in February to Madrid ( bring winter clothes ) to visit the Sierra de Madrid ( just 47km to the nord ) to go skiing in Valdesqi or montaneering up to Peñalara ( 2.340m ) with ski touring or raquetas de Nieve and piolet !
sorry meant Valdeski , a skiing resort. With climate change , unfortunately , ski seasons are becoming smaller in time , but 20 years ago it was not uncommon to go skiing from january to april... just 50km into sierra de Madrid
I am from Madrid and I used to travel a lot to Phoenix, Arizona.
Weather speaking, it's not that much different. 'A bit' drier & hotter of course, in PHX.
You were lucky you were in Madrid in July. If you think that is hot try to travel down to Seville for a comparison.
Hang in there! We had a few days of heat here and I hated it
Team Winter all the way. I don´t understand what´s wrong with people who like hot weather.
Yo diria que estas exagerando. Keep up the good spanish!!!!, in no time the subjunctive, piece of cake
You're just adorable. I really hope you live happy here, in Madrid.
Btw: Hablas muy bien español. Cada vez mejor!!
Big hug and best wishes, Danielle!
Me piro! Me voy, me marcho, me voy de najas, ahí os quedáis,
Southern Europe becomes more and more inhabitable in the summer. The temperatures in Madrid, Naples, Rome or Athens often exceed 40 degrees.
Add to that wildfires that are now a common place in Greece, Italy, Spain and this year even in Croatia. In places like Crete or Sicily the temperatures can approach 50C.
If you really want to visit Madrid come in February or March. April is still good with rather chilly nights.
Buenas Danielle,
Saludos
Whatever vehicle you're traveling back north in, don't get out until you see polar bears. It's bad here too. 😁
So you plan to come back to Amsterdam/the Netherlands? Looking forward to follow some of your Dutch vlogs again 😊
Dan where r u from dear❤
Danielle, how come you couldn't find an academy to study Spanish once you had settled in Madrid?
Because everybody teaching in academies has gone away from Madrid in July because the heat...😜
@@alfonsoherguetagomez1821 Ideally, the thing is one can escape in July and August from the oven-dry heat in much of inland Spain to places like the coasts (to cool off on the beaches) or the north (which I think is nicknamed the country’s air conditioning), and the last thing anybody wants to do is to study or go to work when it’s 40 °C (104 °F) or thereabouts outside your house, and you have to use an air conditioner (if you have the cash) or a fan to survive the heat of Satan himself, and not go outside until after eight or nine in the evening and lock yourself indoors around nine in the morning because if you go out you will be melted or turned into a baked chicken by the scorching and powerful sun.
@@MrBrown-ef7ve I live near Madrid. That's a good description...
i want to move to iceland
It's actually such a nice and friendly place! Go!
Agree, but… siesta? Nop. Neuronas y sabiduría popular. By the way, ‘hace un calor’ y no ‘es un calor’…
