As a 16yo I've been writing my own songs for a year now (have not played them for anyone tho) and it's honestly just such a great way to express yourself and sometimes even realize things you didn't know you felt before!! It's my fav thing to do :))

There is one thing. Just write. English is not my first language, i am Turkish and 17. I started to write song 4-5 years ago. I wrote Turkish until last year. And they are horrible. But i didn't give up. I just wrote all the time. I pushed and pushed every time. When i first started songwriting, i showed my friends that i wrote lyrics . They didn't like it. They said stop don't write. You are no talented anyway but i didn't give up. I wrote all the time. I wrote so badly until last year. Then i suddenly started to writing English lyrics. And now my lyrics are good. I write for artist now, weekend, Taylor, Harry, why don't we, Coldplay, maroon 5, camila cabello. I wanna be music producer and help people with my music in this cruel world. So just write, don't give up. No matter what who says, don't listen. Just write all the time. You are gonna make it ✌🏻🖤

I know it seems like an impossible dream but I'll try until the end. My friends also used to make fun of what I write and sing, but I really improved myself. Taylor Swift inspires me so much. The funny thing is, as I've been writing very intently for about two years, I somehow figured out most of these tips but the way you ordered the tips and the way you've explained it is absolutely wonderful and it helped me so much despite me knowing it.
My problem is finding chords for the actual song. so hard for me i can do everything else with a little effort but the song part i cant do. ( i play electric guitar )

This was so interesting. I don’t write music as I’ve mentioned in comments but I do write blogs and I was an English major. I also am a motivational speaker about bringing people with and without disabilities together and I believe some of the best writing and speaking is when you are brought to that situation or able to feel that feeling.

14:09 actually I started learning guitar to just make songs from my own poems, and there are a bunch of them. Still havent figured out a pattern of chords or strumming to fit any of them but there is time :D oh and your video of cheating bar chords is 🔥, i try them but still hate them at this point, so you were helpful in my journey :)
