Tips: You can always ask a Cambodian house if you can stay overnight with them, they'll most likely say yes; that is if you don't mind the condition of their house. And they most likely feed you, too. It's a Cambodian custom and tradition. Worst case scenario, go to any nearby temple, they will let you stay and feed you. If they deem you a good person, they will treat you like a family member.
Amazing. I really appreciate that about Cambodian culture.

@sojeanify, you're right. If you are a good person, you won’t die homeless or without anything to eat in Cambodia. We Cambodians always share our food with others.
Both of your parents must be very proud, to have raised such Extraordinary human beings. You two make me smile every time.
That’s very kind 😊 this made me smile
Yep proud momma here! Steven has always been a kind, appreciative person and I’m so happy he met Alana who has the same qualities!
@ You rock!
Love your friendly and open minded interactions with the locals. They are enjoying your presence as much as you’re enjoying the visit.
Thanks. I was really touched by how welcoming everyone was.
it part of the culture. you can always ask the temple monks if you can stay with them. it’s common even for locals to stay at temples when they travel, especially outside the cities and into the more rural areas. however, in recent years, there has been some foreign tourists making it a little more difficult for temples to accept foreigners because they would take things with them that belongs to the temple. but like someone else in the comment section said, you can ask any family you meet if you can stay with them and most of the time, they will welcome you.
That’s good to know! Thanks for sharing. Sorry to head some foreigns taking things that belong to the temple.
This is our cultural norm, the warmth, kindness, and welcoming. I love your video Steve. People will find your video and subscribe to your channel. Thank you for sharing!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤
Thanks for your positivity 😁 I really appreciate it!
Love you two. Your simplicity and sincerity melt the Cambodian population's heart. Be confident, you won't be lonely and scared there wherever you show up. A sincere foreign guest is always welcomed in a Cambodia countryside household. Thank you again for spreading the love.
Aw thanks 🥰
Hey Steve, thank you for being so kind to the Khmer people. Enjoy some coffee.
That’s very kind of you 😊 thank you so much!
@chaya973 How to donate on RUclips like you did? I also want to, please share me how.
Cambodian people are so kind.
They really are!
Looks like the little girl who gave you bread was about to cry, too. They love you both.❤❤
They are so sweet! Sad to leave them
What a lovely family ❤ wish it could be longer 😢
Very lovely family. I wish we could have spent more time there
Khmer people have always been kind and welcoming to anyone. Many centuries ago, we offered many asylum-seekers from south China, but they mistreated us and decared independence and then fought against us. But this custom is still carry-on until today to always be welcoming to strangers and be kind. We have been through a lot during our past time, but we will not stop being kind to others.

All Cambodian peoples are nice. I can say that…
All the ones that I’ve met are
What a nice family and smart kids with your homestay in that small village. You guys should adopt a few children from Cambodia and that will be an epic to watch how your life will be❤Both of our children are in the 30s and we still don't have any grandkids yet!
Enjoy your trips and stay safe🎉
Interesting idea 😊
When you talked about the Tuk Tuk tournament I thought it was just a Tuk Tuk racing, but this seems even more fun ❤❤
Yea, it’s a tournament with many challenges but my favorite part is that it encourages you to interact with locals. For this tournament we focused a little less on rushing through it to get points, and more on taking it slower and appreciating these unique experiences.
Cambodia people really love both of you and you never starve .
Quiet town very nice place. The silks here are very popular. Like your video. Watching from California. Thanks 🙏 for sharing Steve

Most of our Cambodian people are so friendly and very kind too. I really miss my homeland. I used to go quite a bit but since my mother passed away, I went only one time just for two weeks. Anyway, you both have safe travels wherever you are and enjoy Khmer food for me. Best regards, from New Jersey, USA

The pancakes are similar to the ones in Indonesia...they are green from pandan leaves used in the pancake mix.
Nice to see you both blend in with the locals, they are very hospitable...I have been invited to about 500 barbeques, when I come back to Cambodia in the end of February next year...looking forward to it.
Enjoy your travels.🇰🇭🙏
Such as a great experience you both are beautiful person thank you for loving Khmer People 🙏❤️🇰🇭
Yes I agree with the local people's 👍
Me too
I think his video, should have 6k to 10k likes, his experience in Cambodia with the local Khmer people is wild, not many people do this and you hardly found any video on RUclips that do this like him. Fun to watch! ❤
Thank you for your kind words and positive support :) I really appreciate it!
@@SteveYalo sadly this vidoe seem to not reach many Cambodian audiences im surprised how low the view are mostly Cambodian are very supportive I assume you post this when you no longer in Cambodia?

Amazing experience ❤
Thanks! I love it when people are welcoming like that
This trip will be very memorable for life.
Yes it will!
The host was very kind, and the kids were incredibly smart. When visiting rural Cambodia, you’ll always be greeted with smiling faces, and the locals are often happy to help you with food or even offer you a place to stay-provided you don’t mind their humble living conditions.
One thing to keep in mind, especially when interacting with the elders, is that they sometimes say things that might sound blunt or teasing, but it’s never meant to offend. In fact, it’s often a sign of affection. For example, if you’re a bit chubby, they might playfully say "Kamab mab" (កាម៉ាប់ៗ), which literally means “you are chubby.” This isn’t body shaming or bullying; it’s simply their way of adoring someone, including foreigners and children.
I also heard in the video, when the mother-law suggested you should get a haircut-it’s likely because long hair on men is uncommon in rural Cambodia. Again, this isn’t criticism but rather a reflection of their honest, affectionate nature.
Understanding this helps you appreciate their warmth and sincerity, even if their words come across differently at first.
Thanks for sharing that insight into Cambodian culture!
Okay you guys take care of yourself Thank You For Love Cambodia people❤❤❤
Thank you 😁 we love Cambodian people
I am really appreciate you❤❤
Thank you 😊
Much Love and Respect...🇰🇭 Los Angeles
Thank you 😁
Awesome 🤩 vacations 😅
Steve, Thank you for your love to my country.I wish your video is 1h+ long next time😂.Your 26minutes video is like a 5mn to me, very enjoyable to watch.❤
That’s a very nice compliment :) I will continue sharing more videos. I was afraid of making them too long where people may lose interest but maybe I can start making them longer
@@SteveYalo 1 hour is too long, it's better to keep it the way it is. Only people who are already watching your videos would watch a full hour video, for new people scrolling through...they would immediately pass it up (in my opinion).
Love love your video from Cambodia❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!!
Seeing your videos make me miss home so bad
Where in Cambodia is home for you?
@ in Siem Reap, on the outskirt of town. Flying back in January

Alana looks beautiful in the khmer clothes 😍
I agree 🥰
❤❤
❤❤❤❤🇰🇭
When grandpa said she want to cut your hair and your girlfriend like NO 😂
Hahaha Alana is fine with that 🤣 she wants to get rid of my dead ends too
Could you please answer one question for me? I am planning a trip to Cambodia next year. I don’t want to make a lot of hotel reservations as I want to keep my trip very flexible. I do plan to visit multiple cities when you applied for your visa prior to your trip did you have to have any reservations made so that your visa could be processed?
I only had one reservation, that was the first hotel I was staying in when I first arrived. I believe that’s the only thing they ask about is where you are initially staying.
Thank you sir (and ma’am). That is exactly what I was asking. Enjoying your videos. Please keep up the good work.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
We want to see more new videos uploaded ,please!
HERE IS THE TRICK ABOUT COUNTING NUMBER. ONCE YOU HAVE LEARNED AND REMEMBER FROM ONE TO FIVE. WHEN ITS ON SIX, COUNT AGAIN FROM FIVE AND ADDING ONE AFTER TO FOUR.
Yes! We’ve learned that and it helps making it easier. Thank you!
if you can't find any local, you can stop at any of the temple they will let you stay too
Good to know, thanks
❤
Is this like a every year tournament or something? You’ll be back next year ?
The tournament will be every year. Even I don’t come back for the tournament I still plan on coming back and driving a Tuk Tuk in Cambodia again. Maybe for a longer time without the tournament and go further
