I have lived for a bit more than 3 years in Mexico, and actually have encountered on those 3 years only 1 really "hazardous situation that did not make me feel safe".
While on my 4 years living in Brussels, I have lived through quite "many hazardous situations that did not make me feel safe".

Great video again - I have been binge watching as I just discovered your channel, haha! You are bang on with your commentary about the media taking isolated incidents and then blowing them up for weeks at a time when the chances of it happening to a non-criminal with common sense is VERY low. It has never happened to me in over 106 countries in 16 years of total travel time. The only time anything bad happened to me was in my own country of Canada when my laptop was stolen - so there you go. Of course common sense and experience helps. Mazatlan is totally fine - there are even volunteers to help you get through the tourist section. The people I met there were awesome back in January of this year. They couldn't understand why the tourists stopped coming - me too although I was also nervous at first. Once again, if you are not a criminal or involved with drugs and don't get drunk in a locals bar and then pick a fight (it happened to a Canadian in Puerto Escondido while I was there enjoying myself - and he got shot - no wonder.) you don't need to worry. I have been all over Mexico this year from Tijuana to Acapulco, Mazatlan to Cabo, MX City to Cancun and I have never had a problem - but I sure have had a lot of fun! Don't even get me started about the bus trip I took straight through Central America - I ended up making new friends at every single border crossing. I loved it! It wasn't dangerous. A lot of that comes from the bad old days of the 1980's and Pablo Escobar - it just isn't like that anymore but you have to go see for yourself.

The most dangerous states are probably the northern ones, especially areas close to the US border. Cartels don't usually target "Gringos" - if anything they are avoiding you, because you represent liability to them. People most at danger are migrants hoping to reach the US. As for the tourists, you're more likely to get robbed in a touristy resort town than in Cartel-infested states. The recent horrible killing of Americans almost proves this point because, as Naick said, it was such an unusual incident. The cartel even delivered some of the people involved to the police, if I remember correctly. This said, of course the cartels are monstrous organizations, holding Mexico down.

We just drove through Sonaloa today!! We drove north from Mazatlan to Ciudad Oberon and will cross into US tomorrow as we head back to Canada. It was a good (though somewhat stressful) drive without any problems. We love Mexico and the people who live there!

Well first of all Naick… Dan and I love your new hat…. Looks awesome. We have done at least 12 trips to Mexico… only 2 on the west coast, and the rest in the Mayan Riviera and have always felt safe. You just be aware of your surroundings and try not to get yourself in a situation…. Now there is always being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but whatever…. You Got This. We love seeing you in Mexico…. And enjoying your time with new found friends. Looking forward to seeing more of your travels…❤❤❤❤ take care😊

@@NaickKim our favourite is the Mayan, but from here in Halifax it is easier to get to Cancun so All inclusive resorts in the Mayan were the destination of choice.

And guys. When in the Mayan we have gone off the resort… took the Collectivo (van/bus with the locals) in to Playa del Carmen. Have been to a bunch of the ruins. We ❤ Mexico ( spent last Christmas there ). Looking forward to going back. Enjoy it…

As always, I love you guys' content! The look on Kim's face when she smelled those mangos is priceless. Lol. I live in the midwestern part of the United States now but back home in the south, when you smell something that doesn't necessarily agree with you, it's considered "funky". 😆 That could be foods, bathrooms, feet, whatever. Lol! As always, travel safely!

I agree with you. I visit NYC and there are parts that are more dangerous than others, but I don't wear jewelry, I don't carry designer anything (also because I'm not into that kind of stuff), I pay attention to my surroundings, and I typically try not to be there after dark. People are generally very nice if you are too. Personally I'd never make the trip south of the American border but that's more because I hate the heat. 😁

most of the people who say "Mexico is dangerous" are people that have never even been to Mexico. I live in the United States but my family is from Mexico, the state of Guanajuato to be exact. I go every year to my small town in Guanajuato for the fiestas we celebrate during December. I have never once been in danger. Yes, bad things happen but where DON'T they happen? They don't target tourists unless the tourists are the ones causing trouble. Keep your guard up, but don't ever let that ruin your trip!! I'm very glad I came across your channel!!! Safe travels and I hope you guys get to see and truly show the beauty in Mexico! :)

There are more frightening places in the US. Like Texas, Florida and many other open carry no gun rules states. Even worse if you are a child going to school, going grocery shopping, movies, etc. Or if you are a woman, there is a war in them in some states but that’s another story!
    Safe travels ❤
