    Holy cow! You guys found a literal ton of Galena! Man that's amazing! And thank you for the little piece you sent me! I absolutely love it! Galena was one of the first minerals that I collected! I got a little Galena cube and a quartz point! Those were my very first minerals I ever collected. I was about 4 or 5 I think, when I got them too, and Galena has spiked a life long obsession with rocks! So thank you for that. It made me think of and feel the same awe I felt the first time I ever saw Galena! Thank you Jeff! You are an awesome hunting guide and friend! ❤

      @@huntingrocks I haven't done it yet. I've been really sick for the last month and a half. I was recently released from the hospital and I'm still trying to regain my strength back. I had covid twice and the second time, it really did a number on me. Fever of 102 for three days, and I couldn't even get out of bed until my fever broke. I dehydrated myself so bad, I got a kidney infection, and that put me in the hospital for 4 days!

      @largent45 Lisa, dang it not cool. I'm glad you're starting to feel better, and no worries, those trilobites aren't going anywhere.

      Only time I ever found it was little junky pieces. This was a bucket list check off of minerals I want to find ... of course the big check will 200 pound gold nugget , I won't tell any one but there will be signs I found it 🤣🤣🤣

    Is galena pure lead? If not, how do they extract the lead from it and make it pure?

    • @huntingrocks
      @huntingrocks  Месяц назад

      "Galena contains 86.6% lead by mass. Galena is also a source of silver and often contains arsenic, tin, antimony, and copper." I coppy and pasted that cause it was said better than I could say it LOL.
      Now I will say that even though it does contain things like arsenic, it is safe to touch just don't eat it or lick it. But really you shouldn't do that with any rock

  • @philbyrd5561
    @philbyrd5561 Месяц назад

    what is the silver % on that stuff

    • @huntingrocks
      @huntingrocks  Месяц назад

      In Missouri, it's crazy low, sadly nothing like Cerro Gordo . The galena here was better used for making lead, that's not to say it doesn't have silver, it's just secondary commodity value
