I got no empathy from anybody after my accident. Family and coworkers acted like my symptoms were a funny joke.. I hope your experience is better and Godspeed to you in healing. I am glad I went to cognitive therapy and depression counseling, it helped a lot, and I found some friends. The depression was and is strange. I didn't mope around, I just no longer cared or showed joy or concern for life. The veil for all this materialistic and superficial stuff in my life had been removed. I started wanting to help others, no longer worrying about death, I started to enjoy each day, slowly but surely getting past the doldrums of wanting to sit in a cold, dark room by myself and cursing the world.

If you are dealing with this you should look into upper cervical care and get your neck corrected. The top bone the atlas weighs only about 2 ounces with no protective discs and can get knocked out of position. This causes inflammation and decreased blood flow through the brain stem which is the usually the real source of the issue. Anyway they adjust the atlas back it really helped me check it out.

My TBI was back in 2004 when I was 24 and I was jumped by three 200+ pound man. They kicked and stomped on my head so many times my own mother could not recognize MAN when she came to the hospital. I was in a coma for a little under a month and then I spent another 68 days in the hospital. I had 15 staples in the back of my head, a broken jaw that was wired shut, a broken nose, and I wanted to see pictures and the district attorney showed me and I cried. I couldn’t even recognize her self. My head was so swollen and my face so be it up. But you look at me today and even one year after the incident and you could not tell. I wanna thank prohealth care Waukesha Wisconsin for taking such great care of me during those four months. There are some really good people out there and at the opposite end of the spectrum there are some really bad people out there.
Does anyone remember that ex police officer Jude? He was jumped by some guys at a party. Well if you do know of this than I suspect that you saw his photos after he was beard. My face looked 10 times worse. My incident happened at a house party so there was witnesses and all three of these men definitely spent some time in prison and I got a little bit of money out of it but not much at all just enough to pay my hospital bills and my lost wages while I was in the hospital. So if that night never happened that I would be in the same financial situation. Some pain and suffering would be nice but I’m just happy that hopefully they all learned a lesson or you can’t lay your hands on somebody that you never even met in your life

I hit the curb at a angle, and went flying over the handlebars land head first on the driveway and was knocked out cold. I was acting strange, couldn’t keep dinner down. My mother and our neighbor rushed me to the ER. Of course I don’t remember any of this. My mother told me later that my brain was swelling and the doctors were going to have to remove part of my skull if medication couldn’t bring the swelling down. Thank the Good Lord the swelling went down. I’m 53 years old now and I still feel the effects hitting the driveway with my head. I had a head trauma and i do not remember anything about the accident, first thing I remember i was in the hospital. My best guess is that what I was told has to be true. I was walking and was hit by the plow at 60km/h, 8 months after that another accident i do not remember, don't even remember being in the hospital, my bike front wheel was caught in a manhole cover that the slots are the same direction has the road and i fell face first on to asphalt, I am quite sure I was up on the pedals cause I always am when i start from a complete stop and it was around 60 feet from where I lived. My brain becomes very tired when I have conversations with people, more than 5 minutes and I feel tired and around more than 10 minutes and a headache insues, it's been over 21 years. I am considered anti-social cause I will go away in these situation. It seems my head don't want to process alot of information and i can't stop over anylizing everything people say, it's something that was in me before the accident. I am paid for life because of the accident, so have all the time in the world in this extreme loneliness. Hard to find someone that will accept to be in my presence and talk only if it is very important. Silence please.

Suffered a TBI when I was 5 in foster care due to a horse accident. Mesial Temporal Lobe Sclerosis. It causes many negative side effects and some positive that I also see as negative in many cases. Many people who don't have TBI don't understand the crap us who have it end up dealing with. Bills, trips that lead to thousands of miles traveled over years all to have a surgery so we can feel normal and even after the surgery we still might suffer from all the same side effects. It took 13 years for me to have my surgery done then a year and a half later my seizures are slowly returning. We are seen as normal to the eyes of others then when they hear our thoughts and see our physical side effects they feel bad for saying things they once said before. I've had many people make jokes about people with seizures and TBI in front of me and then when they find out they feel horrible. I've come to laugh with them about it because I've learned to accept that the things they've said is true. They don't bully me over it they just joke about it. I've made jokes about it too.

The video is a great short overview but I wish it covered moderate and severe TBIs more in-depth. These are the injuries whose symptoms are unknown by so many people and thus they get judged harshly. As there are basically no people who have a mild or severe TBI nobody can really grasp what people are going through and why these symptoms are such a big obstacle in daily life. Would've been also good to state that even symptoms of a mild TBI can last a life time in rare cases, or the mention of PCS. I am lucky enough that people treat me kindly most of the time but I've yet to meet another person who suffered a moderate or severe TBI, having such a diagnosis makes you feel extremely lonely.

She was bullied, with a podcast mocking her loss of memory, stuttering, unprovoked insults about “ institutionalizing. Also, her anger at the intentional criminal violence which caused the TBI,.,, The people doing the bullying are part of an agency where professionalism is expected.
Again, several mocking podcast were made and the extreme attacks were utterly unprovoked by persons with no personal relationship to the crime survivor with resulting TBI.

After many knockouts due to snowboarding and getting into fights, i had issues for a few years in my mid 20s, but learned to live with it.
Last summer i was in a car accident where i wasnt wearing my seatbelt, my head broke the windshield and possibly so vertebrae in my neck. This changed the way i think especially under stress, and ruined my balance. Lost motivation and my job, eight months or so later my drive came back but still dont react to stress in the same cool manner i used to. My hand eye coordination is also kinda wacked now and i suffer from poor impulse control and seemed to have developed a slight alice in wonderland syndrome when i get tired.

I just lost interest in everything and I have to really push myself to do things outside of work I’m not a total died but I definitely notice everything and sometimes I just don’t feel like explaining what I’ve gone through. It was a very life-changing day in my life. I see so many of my peers achieving so much more and passing me by and I just wonder will I ever get to where they are. The lack of motivation is probably the worst for me after first brain injury. I used to have friends comment how ambitious I was and that’s no longer….

i have gotten so many concussions back in elementary school, Ive been knocked out but never went to the hospital or got any medical attention really except for school nurse. I thought I had adhd starting in middle school when i couldn't concentrate in school and had difficulty with learning. my parents took me one time to get tested for adhd trying to prove me wrong when I told them i thought i had adhd. results came back and turned out I had moderate tbi and a few other things wrong with my brain . At the time I didn't have a concussion or anything so that means that the moderate tbi is just permanately in my brain or something. But anyways, my parents never took me back to the neurologist after the results came back and I can't understand why. My dad thinks it is an excuse I use for not doing good in school and he thinks I can function just like a normal person and that my tbi doesn't really affect me. So I really wanna get my brain checked again but i cant and yeah.

I’m in a similar situation. I got a severe head injury back in middle school, where I ran into a goalpost and blacked out for a few seconds. I was taken to a hospital and was told I had a minor concussion. They said the next time I hit my head I’d have to wear a helmet. I always did what my parents told me to do, so when they said I didn’t need a helmet, I didn’t wear one. But ever since, I’ve had learning disabilities. I couldn’t read aloud as fluently, I couldn’t focus on words as long, lights would give me headaches, and I’d start to cry from the pain that loud sounds would give me. But we never tied it to my head injury. I kept playing soccer and hit my head multiple times during middle school and freshman year.
My lower back started to hurt, and the pain grew to the point I couldn’t stand or sit without unbearable pain. We went to the doctor and found nothing wrong with my back. My best guess, because I hit my head against the post squarely on the top of my head(I was diving sideways), the injury went all the way down my spine.
I quit soccer and began basketball, and during the next 3 years I would’ve hit my head against a wall or floor or person at least 20 times, 3 of which I blacked out. Still, even though it’s clear I’m struggling to comprehend/learn new things, I get sensory overloads, and forgetfulness is part of my personality, my parents still refuse to tie it to the day I hit my head as a child. I have the symptoms and history of symptoms of ADHD, but maybe I only have the history of symptoms because they’re similar to head trauma? I want to dive deeper, but my parents don’t want to for some reason.

@@babydragon8422 dang we must be twins lmao bc I used to play soccer too back in elementary school too but now I play basketball where I also hit my head quite a few times. I haven’t had anything severe in a while though but it seems like because I’ve had so many brain injuries in the past, my head is really sensitive now so that even small little hits to my head causes me to get a headache and symptoms of like a minor concussion. Occasionally I get these headaches where it feels like there is a lot of pressure inside my head and yeah idk if u experience that too also ringing in my ears. But same, forgetfulness is something around me knows me as, along with just me being “slow”. Man I remember before I got all my concussions I used to be like the smartest and fastest kid in my class, I was always the first to finish tests, and got the best grades, but now as a sophomore in high school I struggle so much I fail my classes and my parents still refuse to believe my brain injuries is the whole reason why.

It happened from a physical assault and it has affected me everyday of my life. Having a TBI isn't something no one can ever understand, but if you did have one, then it shows why you must be here to be alive. Life isn't easy. But only the ones that go through the toughest times have a true purpose to be here. If you are attempting suicide, just look at yourself from within, look at the people around you, and you'll see why you are still here. Something I never heard about from his mother, because we were divorced and he was kept from me. He doesn’t show any signs of TBI. He said he will get meds to help him with his short term memory loss because of this diagnosis. No signs of difficulty have been noticed. He had been taking meds for adult ADHD which he also said is why he has short term memory problems. I don’t know what to think because it sounds like excuses to use when he doesn’t want to do anything. Someone help me understand how this TBI can suddenly appear after 20-25 years. Hello I have had a blow to my head on right side of my head 10 years ago , I was unconscious for 10 minutes and I had headache the whole day and for 30 days after getting up in the morning , I have not consulted doctor and not taken any treatment
Now from last 3 years I am having symptoms of TBI
Mental confusion, blurry vision in one eye , sensitivity to light and sound, I feel as if my right ear drum is broken, balance problem while driving please let me know whether the symptoms are serious and I need to get an MRI scan done.

I fell from a 250-360ft cliff. I hit every branch and rock on the way down. I didn’t break any bones other than a Le Fort fracture! (Shocking I know!)
I am not quite sure if I had a “mild” TBI or if they just got it to the point of mild, but I hit my head *really* hard that they even said my face dislocated so I would assume I can only have at least a moderate. My head always hurts and I always have symptoms of a TBI memory/emotional wise and I can never think clearly.
-So can doctors make your TBI better from a moderate/severe to a mild TBI if you got the type of care you needed in a short period of time?

How do we find out that we have tbi, I’ve had scans MRI done but nothing shows up. I’ve had multiple head injuries from a young age been knocked unconscious over 10 times and concussed over 20 times, led to drug use after leaving the military then catching cerebral malaria whilst working in Africa. I’m in constant agony, confusion, depression and fear. Can’t sleep or make new memories feel like my life never happened. I’m in really bad shape the doctors say it’s depression and personality disorder and won’t entertain the head injurys I need serious help

Hi there, just remember that there is always someone looking out for you. The worst thing to do is to watch loads of videos, because you will feel like you have everything wrong you you because you can’t distinguish what’s wrong with you. I’m from the UK and from the fact that you pay hospital treatment, I guess that you are from the United States. The best thing to do is to keep a diary and jot down any headaches or confusion you have. If you are a student, another good thing is to speak to a teacher about it. Here in the UK, we use an app that allows teachers to set work for up and we can complete it online and speak to teachers. We have this sheet to complete where we discuss any feelings, worries or problems with our form tutors.
So it is important to keep a diary entry, because that way doctors know how you feel. Also, lockdown is getting to us all and we lose our well-being
