"Frustration and disappointment leads to anxiety and anger...and we don't want that." Very wise words. Take the time to learn, starting from the basics, and you will avoid all of it. Well said, my Man ! Thank you !

Personally, I think the 1982 large and small dates are the easiest to distinguish among these.
Didnt know about the 1974 large and small dates. The Redbook doesnt list these.

Same for me, the 82s are easy, BUT I have seen MANY 1982 penny pictures on eBay listed as SMALL dates. They have SOLD & some are for sale right now, the pictures are clearly of the LARGE date variety, again listing states SMALL date. Sad for misinformed buyers.

If you want to have an idea about how hard it is to find a 1960 small date in circulation, I had occasion to look thru about 17000 copper cents (took me about 1 year in my spare time). I found around a dozen small date 1960-D's but only 1-2 small date 1960 Philly mints. In my experience, about 18%-20% of cents in circulation are copper. So I figure you'd need to look thru around 50000 cents to find 1 1960 small date. And I dont think a dealer would pay more than a buck for a 1960 small date. Maybe only about 10 cents or less for a 1960-D small date. So I wouldnt spend too much time doing this IIWY. If you want one, buy one from a dealer.

I was a ten year old collector in Southern California when 1970 S Lincolns were released and amongst myself and collecting friends I don't recall any of us finding a '70 Small Date. I must have searched several thousand over time.

Thanks Daniel ! I've known about all 4 of these and the hardest one for me is the 74 large/small. I've search, stared and just haven't got that knack yet to differentiate those easily like the other 3. Frustration is not what ya want in this hobby, it should be FUN !!

Thank you so much for the great videos. And thank you so much for the last line that you said about doing your studying to avoid dosapointment. I thought I had the big dog -82D small - I told my girlfriend at 5 o'clock in the morning. Let's find a reason to debunk this because it couldn't be. However it does weigh exactly three point one grams... However my eight looks like a snowman and my two looks like nessie. I'm brand new to coin humting and I really love The hobby. it is meticulous/ It is tedious sometimes but I still enjoy it. I still love to think about where that coin is been, who has held it; through the good times and the bad. Mostly how cool it looks.

Replaying to the 1974 large and small date. What if I had a 1974 large date over small date which will declare there is a large date and small date and u can see the difference in the 7 because the 7 I'm assuming that u see in the background of the 7 is the smaller version like to show everyone who would be interested

Collectible varieties of coinage are easily stored and have a ready market.
