I loved the build-up to the flood the entire movie. It really felt intimidating and threatening, and the stakes felt high since all of the animals were in danger. Especially the way the dam exploded and immediately flooded the valley and the animals all running to the boat in a panic.

To this day, one of all-time favorite scenes in this franchise is when the mammoth herd arrives. When we bring back the mammoth via Jurassic Park-esque cloning technology, the score from this film should be used when presenting the mammoths.
One of my earliest movie memories is going to see this when it came out, a lot of fun moments (especially for kids) and I still listen to the soundtrack today!

Back in the Mesozoic era(the three combined time periods of the dinosaurs) the top predators of the ocean were the pliosaurs, mosasaurs, and tylosaurus. Mosasaurs and tylosaurs were, quite literally, giant sea-lizards, their only living relatives today are the monitor lizards, like the Komodo Dragon.

Love the deeper story of this movie: it's better to be yourself than someone else. And it really is a stupid behaviour from the possum brothers to maintain Ellie's belief to be a possum herself. If only they allowed or better helped her accepting who she really was it would have made their lives so much easier.
The Actual Meltdown did happen, back then in the Primal Ages, the Ice over in Canada melted and flooded half of the United States completely submerged into water, till the water dried up.
Vultures taking care of dead things is actually the best. Otherwise those things stink to high heaven. You can smell that anywhere. Vultures are a HUGE help in cleaning up any rancid smells.

I'm not sure why I liked the sequel better. I think it's because I was so worried that global warming was going to kill everyone and I was so relived that they survived. Also, the scenery in this movie is beautiful and a huge improvement over the first movie. It made me want to visit Canada. I believe the water creatures were metriorhynchids, sea crocodiles from the Jurassic.
