*This video is 100% wildlife free & no animals were harmed or filmed in its making* hahaha! Ed that is possibly 1 of the most visually stunning and exciting videos you have ever made, absolutely beautiful camera work and editing with a to die for soundtrack. Just brilliant. Sorry about the vehicle problems but considering you traversed that mountain pass with just a nicked tyre you did good until the issues that arose later - "shit happens" but you stayed positive and grateful. Thanks so much!
Edward.....( and the others).....what a superb video.....absolutely superb.....today....i start planning a visit with my Defender to SA, Botswana and Namibia for 2025......its a long way from Scotland.....mud and snow.....to the arid conditions of SA and Namibia.....what a video.
Brought back some great memories. Went down Van Zyl's in a T3 syncro combi with 14 " wheels. Great fun. No 2nd. vehicle. The stuff you do when you young hey 😅
Your photography is outstanding. Especially the drone shots are breathtaking. So sorry that car trouble had to spoil the trip for you. Here's hoping the next trip goes flawlessly.
You guys are off road gurus. 8hours of dirt road. amazing. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video. One of the great things about RUclips is being able to see other parts of the World n Countries. Scenery is epic. Beautiful landscape. Van Zyl's pass, ANEVA
Thank you Edward, epic trip. I think Van Zyls pass would be suicide trying to nevigate on your own. Guts going down with a trailer I might add. Kept shaking my head in anger about your 90k situation and wish somehow there was a way to expose this person without you having to worry about yourself and family. Looking forward to see the solutions youve made to continue on this trip.
'The interruptions are the journey' is a good phrase to remember when on a long trip I find... things always go wrong, annoying when your trying to film a series like this on a time limit I'm sure, but conversely I've made my best friends in those situations as well 🙂 Great drone footage, lovely shots!
Oohh sheeesh Ed, talk about bad luck, in such a stunning, raw and challenging environment. I hope you get your 100 fixed, and also give those so-called mechanics who "fixed" your car a hard time!
that pass was heart racing, breath holding stuff. What a trip! That was some crazy driving. Fantastic camera/drone work, stunning scenery. The colors of that valley... it is surreal. And the fairy circles.... what??? Curses upon that horrid "mechanic"! Blessings on your mates!
Phenomenal storytelling, Ed. Very definitely some of your best work. Van Zyls looks terrifying. Respect for showcasing your experience so authentically.
Wow, Ed, that was edge of the seat stuff, I felt your stress! Very brave of you three to do Van Zyl's pass, not for the faint of heart. A trip like that is hard on any vehicle, but you guys did it!!! Made for excellent footage even though I love all of your footage!!
Edge of the seat stuff from our comfy sofa in the UK. We were with you all the way on this epic journey, felt your fear, emotion, sadness and joy along the way. Once in a life time for sure. Thank you for sharing it all with us.
Wow wow wow! This series just keeps getting better. Great job with the filming while dealing with rugged and dangerous trails, mechanical failures and the weather! What an epic adventure to share with Ryan and Christos. Can't wait for the next one!
the best so far and love the drone sequences. next level as someone says ! really enjoy the chit chat between you Ryan and Chris so lets have some more please................ must have watched it three times already
this trip was Epic Eddie. Your face LOL on that pass... you realy freaked out when the Eco 5 was tilting mate. thats the definition of adventure. Well done. i am just disappointed by that useless guy who messed up the 100 series. he must be sued.
Great video as always Edward. You should consider offering some online training re creating such epic footage. Your photography is stunning!!. One of your comments re "Van Zyl's is a must do pass" was noted but as for me, I got the T-shirt by watching yours, Ryan's and Chris's video channels of the trip ( so I have done van Zyl's pass 3 times!!!!). I thoroughly enjoy the 3 mates doing these trips and never miss an episode. The likes of the 3 of you and Matt Dubber have certainly brought 'armchair adventuring' into our house - nothing like seeing Africa at its best with a glass of wine in hand. You are all such great ambassadors of our lovely country. It also gives us pleasure to see some of the places we have travelled to as well. We are avid travelers of the back roads but draw the line at some of the things you guys get up to. Well done - pity about the vehicle issues - you should name and shame but understand the risks of doing that.
Always brilliant to watch Ed...full of great insight...let-alone the absolute magnificence of Namibia. My brother-in-law and I did a Namibia trip in 2019 and he was in his Landy...which had also been worked on by a suspect individual. He had his fair share of additional adventure as a result of repairs and work that should've been done properly up front. Anyway...all part of the adventure😀
Thank you for all the amazing scenery....been waiting around to pick up a 4x4 friend to do this trip. I think it is time to do it alone with a satellite phone and some spares! You don't mention the workshop that is working on your cars....interesting that you trusted them with 2 cars....guessing a friend reffered them.
Thanks Ed, for showing us the most beautiful places on earth. Your shots and editing really got all the feels going man. Your channel is a regular Sunday night with the fam, can’t wait to see more 🤙🏽
Sorry about all your hassles, can't begin to imagine how frustrated & annoyed you must have been. Fantastic episode yet again Ed, brilliant footage throughout! 👌🏻
Another brilliant video Ed. What an incredible trip - Van Zyls once completed must be the greatest - but in the middle of it all I felt for you guys - not easy. Sorry you had all that grief with the 100 - leave your ex- mechanic to Karma a good mate of mine. Looking forward to part 3. Thanks again for sharing. Travel safe.
What at EPIC episode and the drone footage is out of this world! Those fairy circles I think you called them are beautiful, what a magnificent landscape they created.
Wow that 'pass' is ridiculous, congrats Ed, what a feather in your overlanding cap to have done it with the camping trailer. Had a good chuckle at 35.55 seeing that car air freshener bobbing along. Perhaps its certainly needed after cr****ng yourself going down that pass.
Brilliant videography and editing Ed, well done. Sorry about your mechanical issues. In January 2020 I drove my 80 series from the Vioolsdrif border post to Port Elizabeth with a burst radiator through the dunes between Lamberts Bay and Groenrivier. Luckily I carried a lot of water.
I loved this video and the one before. I've done some off-roading in the Mojave Desert, Death Valley and Baja and such but I'm too old now to think about that kind of white-knuckle sphincter-puckering hairball desert driving. I'm going to Namibia later this year in the fluffy-bunny tourist mode but I'll take what I can get these days. Your video production and narrative skills are really good and I'll be watching your other videos. Keep on truckin'!
The scenery ❤❤❤ OMG... Namibia is soooo beautiful! Thanx Edward for sharing and bring Namibia a little bit closer to me. Hope to go travelling there again soon!
Fantastic episode keep up the great work. One request is to put the names of places, camps when you mention them on screen as its not always easy to find them on a map. Case in point how does one spell "Wada" the name of your last camp on this episode? Many thanks
Good series Ed, we did the same trip with our trailer and brings back so many memories. Hope you get the issues sorted, maybe mention this guy so others suffer the same fate? Cheers
Ed, I'm not sure how you remain so composed after that cowboy mechanic did the dirty on you. It makes my blood boil knowing people are such grubs!! Great episode btw, a truly great adventure...
Wow just been watching your channel awesome videography and the amazing views, but I had the worst anxiety for that van zyl's pass especially with the trailer😬😅 quite surprised the vehicle & trailer handled it so well. Just so sorry for the hammering on your vehicle. Loved that coffee machine where did you purchase it if I may ask? Will be following you guys on the next episodes 😁😉
Endless debate around campfires as to what you should do with an automatic if you breakdown in the bush. What if you put transfer case in Neutral and gears in Park?
Hi Ed, I’m looking for a upgrade to my vhf hardware. Where can you recommend I get that same Aussie style antenna for my vehicle? If you could advise. Thanks
So sorry that you had to go through all that😢 it got me thinking, sometimes when plan to embark on a trip we tend to worry what if the vehicle breaks down(considering its age) only to find it could have probably done well without having to do any “preventive maintenance” which in this case it got the vehicle “toyota” unreliable. And its frustrating for some of us,who we have little to zero mechanical know how and pay people a lot of money with the trust to get our vehicles to be reliant, its sad!
Yes, from Opuwo go west towards Orupembe, then north (/east) from there. It's a less challenging mountain pass. Or from Orumpembe go west around all of the mountains via Green, Orange, Blue and Red drums to Marienfluss. No passes at all.
Brilliant video. Thanks Boet. Was told a while back if it works on a Toyota don't change it... i have a 105 hd FTE (it is being rebuilt due to aftermarket parts being put in and probably poor workmanship thus a valve or 2 kissed a piston) There a thought we don't speak fuel consumption😂 you got the best ever. On the flip side if you get someone to do a job they must do it properly is their name. Onwards and upwards. Glad there is another video coming.
suuupper impressive, but i wonder, why did you take this trailer with you? wasn't there enought space in your car or on the car of your friends? would have made life so much easier ♥
Hi Ed.. sorry mate Ryan told me about this months ago, now i see it was frustrating...pls drop that mechanic... i hope the 200 series recovers fully cause this was a sad ever episode and very emotional to me...if you find any offensive content on my comment pls don't block me as i meant no disrespect 🙏
Eish in the start of the clip i said to myself , there is a very small nr of vehicles that sound as good as the diesel cruisers ouch little did i know .
I am not a fan of overland channels that are heavily sponsored. I must however commend you on your footage and that you, in this episode, dispensed with hubris and were very open about your nervousness.
Thank you so much! I must assure you that this channel is not heavily sponsored. If it was then I would do this full time. 90% of this channels costs are mine including the products. The few brands I do work with I do R&D for and they certainly don’t assist financially. Thanks for watching and the support!
Shouldn’t the guy who ‘fixed’ all the things you paid for, and never delivered, be named? So that other Overlanders know what they are in for when getting this ‘cowboy mechanic’ to work on their vehicles?… we as a community should expose conmen like that.
This is the epitome of determination and adventure this is why we support your channel Ed.
Ed, I salute you sir. Doing Van Zyl's Pass with a trailor. You're a champion.
Thanks legend!
❤ amazing I

One word-- OTHERWORLDLY. WOW😮😊👍🏻🇺🇸🙋🏼♀️
Awesome video. Sad to see the 100 series having problems. Hope it sorted. Cant wait for the next episode.
Thanks buddy

that pass was heart racing, breath holding stuff. What a trip! That was some crazy driving. Fantastic camera/drone work, stunning scenery. The colors of that valley... it is surreal. And the fairy circles.... what??? Curses upon that horrid "mechanic"! Blessings on your mates!
Great episode Ed. You had a good line down the pass. You captured it well. Enjoyed the episode.
I just can wait for the next episode all of this is just one amazing experience....
WOW!!! You guys drive on such dangerous roads!!!? You are adventurers for real. BLESS YOU👌
Phenomenal storytelling, Ed. Very definitely some of your best work. Van Zyls looks terrifying. Respect for showcasing your experience so authentically.
Was a great episode to watch. Namibia has so much to offer. You were brave to take the Echo 5 without brakes over Van Zyl’s😂. Well done.
Very beautiful and interesting. Very determined you are. Thank you. 🙏✌️👌👌
Wow, Ed, that was edge of the seat stuff, I felt your stress!
Very brave of you three to do Van Zyl's pass, not for the faint of heart. A trip like that is hard on any vehicle, but you guys did it!!! Made for excellent footage even though I love all of your footage!!
Amazing episode bro. Crazy how you managed to do this whole drive with that trailer. Phenomenal adventurers!

Wow 😅 absolutely amazing, stunning views, such tenacity, well done on another adventure that just showcases our beautiful Africa.
Here we go,,, Nambia, the amazing over-landing trio. Lots of love and support Eddie🤠
Ed, you’re a legend man. God bless you.
Brilliant as usual, Ed. Sorry for the breakdowns, but hey, that's life. Looking forward to episode 3. Keep up the good work, much appreciated!
Hi Edward, I watch your videos now already for a while and I enjoy your stile very much, nice info and nicely cut videos.
Thank's for that 😁👍Klaus!
This was madness, my god well done chaps

Great, great footage of stunning Kaokoland, thank you for sharing 👌🏾
Great episode as always. Looking forward to watching the next one. Greetings from France.

Incredible video. Well done on the positive attitude and still enjoying your surroundings.
Wow epic
Van Zyl's pass looks like something you can find in 1000 ways to die.. 😂😂😂
Excellent Job Ed, great achievement especially under the circumstances.. 💪💪
you really need to embed part 2 into part 1 video. I had to go search for part 2. love your work bro
Nice one guys, awesome scenery, awesome experience.
Fantastic episode keep up the great work. One request is to put the names of places, camps when you mention them on screen as its not always easy to find them on a map. Case in point how does one spell "Wada" the name of your last camp on this episode? Many thanks

It’s heartbreaking to see a Toyota being towed by a ford.😢 great adventure under a raging African sky ❤. Well done!
Nice one 👍🤙
Next level content 👌🏼
Wow, great video! What was the weight of the trailer?
Did you go to etosha ?😢
Man this looks like great fun 😭
Wow just been watching your channel awesome videography and the amazing views, but I had the worst anxiety for that van zyl's pass especially with the trailer😬😅 quite surprised the vehicle & trailer handled it so well. Just so sorry for the hammering on your vehicle. Loved that coffee machine where did you purchase it if I may ask? Will be following you guys on the next episodes 😁😉
It’s a standard Nespresso Essenza Mini
Tense stuff Ed! I was tense watching you come down the pass, but great video! What does your trailer weigh when you are towing it?
This place looks very similar malalane/ berg en dal area
Endless debate around campfires as to what you should do with an automatic if you breakdown in the bush. What if you put transfer case in Neutral and gears in Park?
Hi Ed, I’m looking for a upgrade to my vhf hardware. Where can you recommend I get that same Aussie style antenna for my vehicle? If you could advise. Thanks

What is the meaning of stone men?
Why did you move away from Flexopower. We find it an incredible product?
I didn’t move away from it, I still use it for the trailer and it’s great, REDARC sent me a unit to test
suuupper impressive, but i wonder, why did you take this trailer with you? wasn't there enought space in your car or on the car of your friends? would have made life so much easier ♥

😂😂low quality diesel that diesel comes from your country SA ! Same diesel you put in your 200 in sa😂

you did not inform us who this service agent was, so i guess we will just have to take the same punishment as you did
Listen here, Instagram message me and then I will send you my account details so you can cover my legal fees for mentioning his name on here
