    We used to have milk delivered to our house from a local dairy in glass bottles that were returned and reused. We bought meat from a local butcher and it was wrapped in paper which is recyclable. We bought groceries and took them homes in paper sacks. All canned food was in tin which decomposes. Liquids were in glass bottles that were recyclable.
    It is the most recent last 3 generations that have caused pollution with plastics because they were misguided thinking plastic is recyclable. The problem is that very few people recycle. most all plastic is dumped at landfills even when you place it in a recycle bin.
    Stating methane from cows is causing climate change is the most ignorant thing I have heard. We need to remove ignorant people that believe this narrative. It is proven that growing plants and farming using pesticides and chemical fertilizers does more harm and kills more bees and animals than sustainable ranching of cattle and sheep. Grass fed cattle is mostly raised on land that is not suitable for farming. Videos like this are irresponsible and full of lies.

    • @unoriginal1086
      @unoriginal1086 2 года назад

      ... methane from cows is contributing to climate change. it is true more recent generations have caused most of climate change, but we have had no other choice. if we were given more options, we would take them but it is very hard to be sustainable especially on low income. also, the food to feed cows uses heavy pesticides and fertilizers, which is another reason raising animals is bad for the environment (this applies to plant foods too, but plant foods are eaten directly instead of fed to a cow that eats a bunch of them to produce a small amount of food.)

    Sort of related to this, but sometimes I hear of good food surplus that on occasion has to be destroyed for any manner or reasons… But if there’s something of a global food crisis going on these days (a good chunk of which is due to Ukraines recent woes and their status as one of the worlds largest suppliers of grains), wouldn’t it be better for nations WITH that much to spare to supply it to surrounding countries that are having trouble feeding their own mouths? Out of good will, building up good international relations and also a way to work off any monetary debts equal to the worth of the food distributed?

    • @cchaber1936
      @cchaber1936 2 года назад

      It is because we're talking about food here. Food can easily rot, unless genetically modified or you add preservatives. And even if you do add preservatives, you can only prolong its "consumable" life to a certain amount of time.
      Plus, does the benefit of sending it overseas overweighs the cost of doing so?
      How do you persuade leaders to take initiative in helping another country when they've got problems of their own?
      You're presenting an ideal solution but in reality, we have to consider the labor, time and effort. It will be hard to move without financial backing or without something in return because you won't able to sustain what you are doing (helping).

    • @cchaber1936
      @cchaber1936 2 года назад +1

      Goodwill is good in concept but not on paper.
      It will be tricky to make another agree based off on good will and building good international relations.
      Most help are transferred in monetary value because it's easier and practical, plus the receiver knows better what basic necessity (like food) do they need.
      It's not only a matter of oversupply but also a matter of what supply, how to maintain and stock the supply, and how to transfer that supply. Will you only give the excess of that supply? Will you not give when there is no oversupply then?
      Again, we're circling back to whether they'll agree with receiving supply because it can also affect their local supply. People can rely on the donated supply, and then the local market will have a hard time selling and earning.

      @@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire
      Researching
      What type of agreement would render a yes on both sides
      What food the receiver commonly eats
      What food can the giver give and if the receiver is willing to accept that
      Are we talking about only goods here?
      Because mangoes in another country, may not be part of a "meal"
      For example, what will they be able to do with the mango? Do they have a dish where the mango is cooked?
      Because if the goal is to avoid hunger, then it would have to be a food that's considered filling to one's stomach.
      And then, there's the issue of how to properly distribute it to make sure everyone is accounted for. It takes hours to go from one city/town to another.
      There are too many things to resolve before it becomes feasible.
      You mentioned Ukraine, right? Poland was very helpful when the war broke. They supplied and accepted refugees. Poland is the first one to help because they're the neighboring country. Since they're close, it's obviously practical for them to do so. And they do have mixed history that make them close to each other in culture, so they're eager to help because there's that sense of brotherhood or sisterhood relationship.
      Maybe, this video's method is one of the most practical one at the moment. To turn wastes into something valuable, from places close in radius.
      Maybe we're thinking of the wrong solution to the problem if there are too many problems that exist within the solution.

      Well if there’s a food crisis large enough to warrant nations the world over to trade each other whatever food they can spare out of sheer desperation, I don’t think the average civilian is going to be so picky as to starve themselves if it meant other nations had to offer them food that might otherwise be foreign to them
