    Hi James, here’s what I think you and the fish can benefit from a simple idea ago keep the fish super safe. On the outside of the pond window at the top. Place a self adhesive stick on tape measure. The out of some stainless steel make a hook on stop end that can be taken off. Then without all the risk and stress to the fish . You could place the fishes nose up against the stop end and measure the fish in the pond, with out the risk of damage to the fish. It will be a easier, safer, and quicker for all. Regards Al

    At the end of the day James its your pond, your koi and your sanity that's important, you are not telling anyone to do what you do you just show how you do things.

    I had a flukes problem this year. Used different treatments but kept coming back. Problem I think was my shower. I was advised to empty media and treat it as a pond so that the media is submerged in treatments rather than just being splashed with it. So far looks like it has worked. Eggs and live can live in the media apparently!

I haven’t added a new fish for a while, but got fluke earlier this year. My fish go mental when the the fluke treatment is added. Apparently the treatment aggravates the fluke and they thrash about… driving the fish crazy!

    • @mangorambo1557
      @mangorambo1557 Год назад +1

      Yeah James is right. Slugs are the primary cause of fluke infestations in our ponds. They act as vectors for the parasite, not by laying eggs but by carrying it on their bodies. This is an issue for cattle farmers too with cows eating slugs and getting fluke in their lungs. The only real way to avoid it is to have a pond closed from the external environment

    • @JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123
      @JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123  Год назад

      Because mud ponds are the best all natural way with loads of room ,but because us as humans like to look are fish/koi ect we try and keep fish in small ponds for pleasure and that’s where the problem is and we try and keep live stock in ponds that’s where the problem is but it’s a hobby

    Hmmm.. one fluke I wouldn’t even bother with. Will never have a parasite free pond and having a small amount of fluke won’t cause problems. PP will not strip the mucous either, if anything , it will produce more mucous on the fish. Chloramine T is much better for that and then hitting them with a fluke treatment

    I'm gonna be a little controversial here as I usually am . The amount of scrapes you have done over the last few days and found 1 fluke that is not an infestation my friend and certainly doesn't warrant the expense or stress on the fish of a fluke treatment in my opinion but its your pond your fish your wallet I would hazard a guess any fishkeeper if scraping every fish jn their pond for a week would find at least 1 fluke .
    I hope it is your issue personally again I think the issue is purely the change in water level and the fish not used to the spill way being that low and the drop in temperature
    But I'm glad you found something that you can relax a bit
