    Great to see the coast at Donegal! You had some beautiful views! It looks remote, and peaceful. Nice camping spot… and nice picture of the old tent! I agree, it does refresh the spirit to get out into these wild places and experience nature!! 😄👌🥾🥾

    Thanks Gerry. I love Inishowen and was great to see that new view you caught along the coastline. Interesting to capture something of the local folklore too, albeit a tragic tale on this occasion. All the best, Steve,

    Well done Gerry, 12 hours in a tent on your own, I suppose it's ok if you can get a good sleep, however if your restless it could be a long night. Some nice wee flowers in full colour this time of year. 👍😁😁

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  Год назад +2

      Cheers Aiden👍 I did get plenty of sleep, which hasn't always been the case recently when out wild camping so that put the 12 hours in a bit quicker😊 There were just a few flowers still in bloom at the beach, would be a lot more colour in Spring and Summer.

    Hi Gerry, loving the tache 😂. A nice looking spot with the mountains dropping down to the sea and a few loughs as well. The moon is always a big bonus when on the mountain, and that one looked well. It must have been nice and rewarding to witness, as you said good for the soul and recharging the batteries. A nice video. All the best 👍

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  Год назад +1

      Cheers Andrew👍 The tache always appears for Movember. The Urris Hills are pretty cool in terms of location and they do have that feel of being way higher than they actually are. It wasn't as easy to get a camp spot as I thought though it was great to just be out there for the night up on a hill all on my lonesome😊 Definitely a nature recharging station😊

    Excellent video Gerry, loved the photo of the tent at night, looks like a great little tent, shame about the visibility the next day, but that just made it more atmospheric. I agree, wild camping is great for mental health

    • @gerrymcveigh
      @gerrymcveigh  Год назад +1

      Cheers David👍 I have only used that tent a handful of times and it took me quite a while to remember how to get it set up and I was freezing by then😊 Sometimes you never know what you will wake up to in the morning though it was really cool to walk back surrounded by the mist. Being out for the day or the night just clears the head I find, nearly taking all the worries away for a while and giving the head and body a break.

    Fantastic video and trip Gerry, some lovely hills and beaches up there and so remote. Bit windy too in the morning but then you're hard core. We were up in Fanad last week visiting my aunt but din't go to the Lighthouse. Was also in Gortin Glen Forest park this week and met Darach! We discovered the Sperrin Rambler bus so hoping to take it in the new year to Magherafelt and circle back from there. The Sperrins looked awesome from Mullaghcarn. Regards, Ashley

    Wow what a fascinating part of Ireland. We love the Inishshowen peninsula. So much history. Sounds like a raven around 5 30 in. Ah Fanad. If you ever get the chance check out the Doagh Famine Village tour.....one of the best tours I've ever been on led by Paddy. Some guy!
    You met 2 walkers! A bit on the breezy side there Gerry. You'll be glad you had the tent well tied down! I'm not fussed with that mist! You take care Gerry! Glad you got your head showered. Yes in noticed the moustache! lol

      Hi Gerry. Inishowen is a place of so many surprises. We have been back a few times exploring. The Famine Village is an amzing step back in time authentic local history and Paddy knows his stuff because he lived the life there as a boy. Fort Dunree Wow! Then there is the mysterious The Grianan of Aileach and then there is Malin Head. We love it. And then there is the remarkable museum at Greencastle and the big St Patrick's engraved cross at Carndonagh and the nearby Marigold stone Wow! Wow! Wow! I've got all this on video! lol -And of course there are the amazing views that you already know about! Take care! Tom

    I said that to myself from the start Gerry that them hills are gnarly and special looking. You certainly got deep down into them exploring as you do. A few ups and downs from the awesome beach but it not being a race pleasant going. A nice pitch not that we saw a lot of the location - a decent place to reflect upon the day and those you met. Well, great to remember old camps too - nice weighty tent no doubt. Enjoyed that mental wealth and all. Mark

      @gerrymcveigh  Год назад +1

      Mark, they are gnarly alright😊 and great to walk👍 They were some adventure away back in the day when I hadn't done much exploring and they haven't lost much of that magic. Weather wasn't great though though the views were and there is something about walking through the mist and being only able to see a few metres in front, where everything takes on a new perspective. Thank you👍

      @@gerrymcveigh Yeah, I can see how gnarly from here. Good to hear the old space has not lost its magic.
