The song itself is about a creature in the Cthulhu mythos.. they were added to the mythos by Frank Belknap Long back in like the 1930's.. if I remember properly the creature is a 'Hound of Tindalos' You can check the wiki as it mentions this song near the bottom. Basically they are hunters that stalk and kill time travelers or anyone who manages to attract their attention. The reason Metallica writes anything about the Cthulhu mythos is because back in the 80's.. Cliff Burton, their basist, brought a board game (like dungeons and dragons) called 'Call of Cthulhu' and the band kinda geeked out playing it. They then wrote the instrumental 'The Call of Ktulu' for their 'Ride The Lightning' album.. and later 'The Thing That Should Not Be' for their 'Master of Puppets' album. I *think* they had 1 more song based on the Cthulhu mythos but I could be wrong.. then they wrote this. As far as it goes.. the video is very entertaining and a good 'nightmare' fantasy. Gotta love a good horror story lol. Glad ya enjoyed the song.. and I agree they should have at least hired a consultant for the video that actually was from Russia. Woulda made the video more 'believable' as a fantasy. Not that I know any Russian language to make the distinction.. but from the perspective of others who actually do know it would have made a difference. Peace
кстати был советский докумиентальный фильм про "воскрешение". в нем качестве экспериментов использовалась живая собачья голова на подносе. она реагировала на звук, картинку, и пыталась сожрать вкусняшку, которая у нее из отрубленной шеи вывалилась.
😂😂 Easy guys. No needs to get upset. Its just a story for entertainment! Like E.T. and Jurassic Park! I think this is the coolest music-video ever made, and NO, I have nothing against Russia nor its people.
The video has nothing to do with the song. But, it tells the "story" of the Soviet discovery of an alien creature that produces a parasitic spore that mimics cells, causing cell growth in dead tissue. Basically, Soviet zombies. They release it on America, and probably the world after confirming barium will kill the spores, and after the world collapses the Soviet Union cleans up the mess and takes over the new world. Both were made in the 80's or 90's I think, so I'd give em some slack for the poor Russian lol
@I identify as an ARAK-21 oh I was alive unfortunately I’m old enough. And that’s what I meant by Cold War bullshit. All that propaganda the US spouted all the way from the ‘50s to the end of the ‘80s. Even now at times. Apparently all the Eastern Europe, we are all evil.
The video was made by a fan who sent it to Metallica. They decided to use it for the video.

Thank you for your detailed explanation! We appreciate it. Respect!
It’s not a board game, it’s an RPG. Totally different.
UOAbigail LeVey Dream no more is the other one
The video is a satire of soviet propaganda, but the actual lyrics is about a Lovecraftian monster, the hounds of Tindalos.

You guys didn't listen to the music.. you just talking shit all the time, and even the story is deep as you may think
Only criticism is that it didn't seem like you even listened to the music enough to form an opinion.
