This is spot on about Rod Dreher. I thought that about him when Trump won the 2016 election and he went out of his way to distance himself from Trump. The need by conservatives to be above the division or not be "that kind of conservative".

The simplest term for someone Dreher has been around for ages: "useful idiot". Guys like David French, Bill Kristol etc though do not get this pass of naivete, and they are far more intentional in their malice and know exactly what they are doing.

Christian conservatives who advocate parallelism outside of regime status hierarchy are shocked when things other than Christian conservatism that the regime also suppressed pop up in those parallel circles - like white racial consciousness.

As petty as it may seem, my interest in this chat plummeted when Burden said that he had never voted for Trump. Don’t even really care what the reasons are, if you don’t “get it” at this point, you never will. Just can’t fathom someone with good ideas like this refusing to vote for Trump.
It's not because he's an anti trump guy, it's because he's an anti voting in general guy. Voting is literally the definition of fake and gay.
Because power doesn’t come from the peasants, and Trump is fundamentally one of the peasants, which is why the peasants like him.
There are legitimate reasons for a true right winger not voting for any GOP presidential candidate the last 3 cycles. Trump was far more willing to do deals with the establishment like Amnesty for a couple million illegals or banning bump stocks than exercising power to deliver the causes that his base really desired. Trump is better than any Democrat, but that’s not saying much.

One could imagine being Jewish in 1939 Berlin. You might imagine there were some portion who's actions were out of line to others. Imagine if we could view them now; we would see some of the people lambasting the person who stepped out of line for the hope of improving their own standing with those in power.
