Zach Wilson honestly did the best you could have hoped for in this game giving that he had 0 time to throw at all. He made some rookie mistakes in the first half but came on strong in the 2nd half. I am surprised this game was close though.

They should give up on the dropbacks entirely and run only shotgun with split backs. That was where they had success today and that way Wilson stays healthy. Play action doesn't work if the offensive line is terrible, there's not enough time to even finish the fake hand off

For NYJ same problem, different QB. It proves that you can have the best QB available but he ain't going to perform if your coaching staff is trash.

The way Wilson was avoiding those D linemen making them miss shows another part to his game he will get a lot better just needs time and needs the right pieces around him.
He moved any better then he would be a Michael Vick highlight but he isn’t that fast compared to Vick . Wilson is not going to last a full season if he takes 6 sacks a game.

We kinda fell off in the second half, but still a good win. CMC had a hell of a return, and Sam Darnold looked pretty dang good. Our defense in the first half was amazing, though they kinda started to fall off in the second. Glad we got the win. Good game, Jets!

Wilson looks really talented. I wonder how the Jets will ruin his career.
How? In a spectacular fashion as always! But if we're going with recent trends they'll fire their offensive coordinator after this season, forcing Zach to learn two completely different NFL offenses with different philosophies and completely different verbiage. Then after his 2nd year they'll fire the head coach and a new coaching staff will come in with all new coordinators, and the kid will need to learn 3 different NFL offenses in 3 years.
Of course they'll do nothing to address their o-line, getting Wilson injured for multiple games every year. Then at the end of his 3rd lackluster season in his injury plagued career, they'll draft another rookie QB and the whole process will go on repeating itself ad nauseum.
I'm HOPING Joe Douglas, the Jets GM, breaks the cycle though. If they get the kid a decent offensive line so he has time to throw, while also getting him some type of run game so their offense has balance, then Zach might have a chance. But it is the Jets, and decades upon decades of stupendous failures has taught me to never get my hopes up. I mean they kept Gase for 2 seasons, what does that tell you?

As a USC fan, I always loved Darnold and I'm so glad he's in a system where he can succeed. The only thing I don't like about him is that he made Clay Helton look like a good coach and we're still paying for that 😔

All I know is after 1 week it looks like the Panthers traded picks away to downgrade their qb position. Too soon to say for sure, but considering what they gave up (Teddy, a 2nd, a 4th, and a 6th... for Sam and a 6th) that might go down as one of the dumbest qb moves in league history.

There can be multiple problems. Darnold was one of many problems. He missed 2 open tds and fumbled the exchange on 4th and 1, dont act like he played a perfect game because he did not.
Well I guess the real Darnold came back to down to earth. So all the blame shouldn't be placed on the Jets after all.
@@daga11 He's playing through a shoulder injury and the Panthers aren't exactly what you would call a good team. Have you seen their OL struggling to protect the QB? Once McCaffrey went down I knew it wasn't going to be easy. My point was simply that he was made the scapegoat. It's nothing new in NY. They did it to Sanchez and Coach Ryan. Look what day did to Todd Bowles? Remember when he was the problem? Yeah, the same Todd Bowles who's defense won last years SB. With the Jets organization there always has to be some player or coach to blame. We should be blaming the owners, not the players. The organization are the ones responsible for putting these clowns on the field.
CMC had almost 200 all purpose yard in this game. He ate all day along!

He definitely does not have a terrible line. I feel like only people who have never played football say this. You can’t expect a clean pocket every snap. The line played well considering they had a starter on the line out.

Sam Darnold look like he was right at home playing like a vet. He has the weapons to be successful in Carolina he jus have to keep working and progressing. Zach Wilson gonna have alot of games like this and he will have alot of growing pains to go through.

It’s no wonder darnold threw a trade party to celebrate being traded. The jets literally couldn’t have given Darnold any worse support if they tried to. I’ve never seen such a piss poor roster build with absolutely abysmal coaching while developing a qb. Glad Darnold got the win and hopefully he becomes the qb he was supposed to be being the 3rd overall pick.

As a life-long Jets fan I'm happy for Darnold. I just may switch to the Panthers as my team of choice. Jets are a terrible organization where players' careers go to die. I'm just glad that Darnold made it out healthy and is proving his critics wrong.
Long-suffering Jets fan here. I didn't get to watch this game on TV, but my takeaway based on these highlights: 1) the Jets' offensive line continues to be a major problem area, and it's to Zach Wilson's credit that he was able to complete some nice passes despite what seemed to be unrelenting pressure. 2) I agree with those who say that Sam Darnold would have fared a lot better with Gang Green if the team had been managed (and coached) more competently. 3) The Jets at least showed signs of life in the second half, and it will be interesting to see if Corey Davis becomes Zach Wilson's favorite target for the rest of the season.

Wilson running for his life for the majority of this game really reminded me of Darnold in a few Jets games that I saw. No young Qb can succeed in that dumpster fire of an organization.
Murray had no o line, mediocre WRs, and Mediocre rbs his rookie year and still looked very promising. Great players cant win by themselves, but they wont look like garbage.

To me Darnold is a kind of guy that could do that, he is not great, but I'm a right setting he can be a very solid starting QB. Wilson - we gonna see, but I bet his confidence gets shattered playing for these Jets.
