That was very impressive that you and Trev managed to get the Reliant roadworthy, had I realised that the day we met up I don't think I'd have thought you were nuts for bringing it. I'd have stood by it as the LMMon's car of the trip.
As you are not using axle stands here is a hint. Put a piece of cardboard under the axle, then put the wheel you have taken off on the cardboard , then another sheet of cardboard on top. So when you shake the car off the trolley jack or accidently lower the jack the wheel will prevent the bodywork whacking into the ground. The cardboard is to stop you scratching up the wheel. Apart from that watching this is painful. So speaks someone who has worked on these types of brakes for many years. Also put a brick under the wheel to undo the wheel nuts and use a long t-bar etc across the diameter of the wheel. This will reduce the turning force on the wheel without doing so for the nut. I am starting to get a headache.
For most the time it has wheels off it was on axle stands, but not a bad idea, though doesn't matter if the steelies got scratched. I'd not done drum brakes before, so it was a learning experience!
Problem with electrics on fibreglass cars can normally be traced to bad earth wires, otherwise electrics are really simple on these. Make sure earth wires are clean and good and your most of they way there.
If you watch from 15:50 you get a good view of the original bonnet and on the corner presumably where the bonnet hinges you can see a noticeable crack. I guess this is the reason the bonnet was replaced.
It was nice to see Trevor working hard on the Realto to get it ready for the Road Trip. Has Trevor come back home again after disappearing from the Road Trip??
When I worked in a garage I was the only one who would work on reliants due to not having a ramp you could put a three wheeler on. Spent many hours on my back underneath them with them axle stands.
'everything about this is easy'.......'yeah, & everything else was easy that you bought'.....😂 Brilliant! Does make good content though, enjoy your 3 wheeled experience Lawrie! 🙏
The plastic Rat lives on to give you more fun thank s for taking me back in time to the 70s . A few thing you may encounter are the front Radius arm failing the MOT . Or the Diff on the propshaft needing to be replaced my dad managed to do all the jobs with having a garage do it . The other thing you could consider is making some metal plates for the door hinges place them inside the door cards it can make life a bit easier than having to re fibre glass the doors all the time . Now you need to think of a colour her then get some LMM decals for you little baby . You should be proud you have a piece of History
If Lawrie wants to continue driving the Rialto (which is _very_ likely), he may want to paracord-wrap the steering wheel. I did on my Taurus, and it feels quite nice.
My only experience of said 3 wheel cars was late 80s. Where I recorded a radio interview with a guy who gave me a lift in one. The interview was about crop circles. I say no more.
I love these things -- they're as daft as I am! (TBH I'm even more partial to the Bond Bug, for the same reason). TBH, having watched the four videos from LMMons 2.0... I daresay this one feels the most LMM-y to me :) ...but, then, as I said, I _am_ a bit daft. (I promise it's the good kind!)
It's funny how he rents a huge warehouse in order not to have to deal with the weather when doing repairs but it's soo full of non-working stuff that he's working on his smallest car on the sidewalk.
This one I'm hoping to paint (as with all of them) but it's always the monitary constraints. However, having driving it about, I'd like it a bright colour to make it more obvious to other motorists!
That overflow pipe just needs to be to atmosphere, well away from the exhaust manifold. It's not illegal for you to do it, but legislation meant Reliant could not do that. I wouldn't have messed with that old collection ball thingy at all. It would have gone in the bin.
The music seems a bit weird without the real video playing. Maybe make it a Timelapse with music and do a real time section every one and a while to give a status update?
With this, we just didn't have the footage. The were snap shots of what we were up to, with very poor sound alot of the time. This was the best I could do.
You put those overflow pipes in the wrong place BTW, theirs two holes next to the radiator for that, no way should the overflow pipes be going over the battery! the big hole behind the battery has a little black cover and is just a access hole for wiring

I thought we already thought I was mad to have driven it up!
Little thing did well!

Ian hubnut would love this car, I just realised those rear lights are trailer lamps they’re identical to what I have on a trailer from the early 90s
I think so too, although he is selling his four wheeled version!
At least the Reliant doesn't leave piles of rust everywhere like the Morris Minor
This is one advantage 😂

New earth's did improve matters greatly!
I was waiting for the backstory as to why the bonnet was changed, but at 17:45 it goes instantly from beige to red as if by magic!
If you watch from 15:50 you get a good view of the original bonnet and on the corner presumably where the bonnet hinges you can see a noticeable crack. I guess this is the reason the bonnet was replaced.
The bonnets were prone to cracking due to them been fibreglass my dads did but he strengthened his to stop it from said problem
The one it came with had a very ugly repair which was failing, and no working lock so I just got a new one!
At last a proper bit of tinkering and no silly laughing. Really hate hyped drama and there was none here 👍
There was certainly some tinkering!
It was nice to see Trevor working hard on the Realto to get it ready for the Road Trip. Has Trevor come back home again after disappearing from the Road Trip??
He has not. He's unlikely to be taking part in anything new - though he'll pop up in loads of videos that we've already shot!
Well done on 50k subs to all at the LMM team!!
Thank you very much!
Excellent lemon harvest. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I really like the thing. Want it get it all running nice, then paint it! Likely something bright so people can see it when it's driving
Spray it then add some go faster stripes with the LMM decals to promte the channel
Plaggy rat is a rude name

Oh right? I quite how tiny the wheel feels at the moment
For a car with very little in it, it's amazing everything is in the way of everything else. What a nightmare to work on.
It's... Less than ideal
It's not that bad. Depending on what you're trying to get to ..
My only experience of said 3 wheel cars was late 80s. Where I recorded a radio interview with a guy who gave me a lift in one. The interview was about crop circles. I say no more.
Love it! What a great episode. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Genius. I’m now wondering if it can run on a narrow gauge. A kind of off the rails on a lemon. Maybe not lol.
“Land Anchor” 👂😂🤣
Good name right
I've recently purchased a rialto van as a project. Not blaming you at all. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh excellent!
Welcome to the club! Share some photos on our Facebook or on the discord!

The Bond Bug is awesome! I really want to review one
Congrats on 50k
Thank you very much!

It's quite hard to keep a car a secret if it's in the public space!
@@lmm it took me a while to get to the part where I realized this was filmed before Lmmons
@@ratonboxwe do maintain a working area in The Shed, as packed as it is!
Yeah, Morgan and Matt did not know about the car before it arrived!
Aside from stuff going wrong, will you do any videos on restoring the car?
Are you planning to restore it at all?
It'll be featuring as we continue to work on it
Hello. I just wonder, will you left it as it is, as you always do with all your vehicles or will you finish it, in interior and with paint and so on?
This one I'm hoping to paint (as with all of them) but it's always the monitary constraints. However, having driving it about, I'd like it a bright colour to make it more obvious to other motorists!
My car had a squeek on the drum breaks because on one side those silly springs are on the inside and outside on the other side
Oh really?
That smudge of filler on the door is rather like a Rorschach test. Yes, I can see what he means if you sort of step back and squint a bit
It sorta looks like it, if you squint your eyes, tilt your head, and bludgeon yourself with a hammer
Yes, it's not ideal 😂

It's working well now though!
I disconnected that overflow thing and it runs the exact same tbh.

Skillful yes, smart ? Uhhh no 😁 I'm sorry, LOVE YOU BOYS
Very smart 😂
I thought the rest of the team where left standing in that field for a week
Well, three days.
Hi
Hello there
You put those overflow pipes in the wrong place BTW, theirs two holes next to the radiator for that, no way should the overflow pipes be going over the battery!
the big hole behind the battery has a little black cover and is just a access hole for wiring
Yes, I moved them after realising the same
'...mmm he doesn't understand.'
He didn't!
shoulda painted the dash
Oh really?
Guessing you gave up making anymore videos on it
Well, it then went and did a road trip to the other side of the country and back in the LMMons series!
🚗🚗😎😎👍
👍
It's NOT Electronics, It's Electrics. A ten minute job has taken an hour because you both have NO idea what you are doing.
And yet here we are with a working car...
