@@OscarSL80 not sure if you managed to work it out on your own yet, but I got mine today and have been scratching my head most of the day trying to figure it out. might not be the full story, but I think I'm onto something... in the Hotone app, when you add/edit a control to one of the switches (using the plus button or clicking the box to edit it), there are two data numbers--Data 1 is the MIDI CC channel, I think...Data 2 is the MIDI value (0-127) you want to send. that Data 2 option was really unintuitive to figure out for me. if you're sending a 0 or 1 or something like that for Data 2, chances are it's not going to actually do anything--especially if you're trying to select or toggle something. when I started entering a 127 in that field, it was doing what I wanted it to--in my case, switching to a desired macro variation in Ableton Live. you also have to make sure to save your changes via the Save button in the upper right of the app in order for your changes to get sent through. if you want to set a parameter to a particular value, you first need to figure out the MIDI value of the setting you want (on that 0-127 scale), then just set up the trigger to send that value in the Data 2 field in the app. an example of this is I wanted to set a knob to a value of 10 out of 127, so in the app I entered '10' into the Data 2 field. one other thing is, use the Single mode in the app to select a value (e.g. you have multiple different patches assigned to different switches and each switch takes you to the associated patch--pressing the same switch twice won't do anything additional)...to set up a toggle (e.g. record arm a track, and use the same switch to un-arm), use the Toggle mode and set up the A Group with Data 2 = 0 and B Group with Data 2 = 127, or vice-versa, depending on how you want it to work. here are the settings for one of the entries in the Hotone app for one of the controls I set up successfully: - Channel = Omni - Type = CC - Data 1 = 27 (don't think this matters as long as it's unique from other switches and banks you're using--unless you want it to overlap on purpose, of course) - Data 2 = 127 (you can use anything above 64 for a toggle on message--or set the specific value you want if it's not a select/ toggle) - Output To = USB (obviously you'll set this according to your connection type--if in doubt, I think you can choose all three--USB+MIDI+Bluetooth) hopefully this helps someone else. it doesn't seem too difficult to grasp once you understand what that Data 2 piece is for, but the documentation doesn't do a great job of explaining it, so it can kind of leave you guessing how to get it working.

Hi Scott - are you aware of a way to change the Ampero Control's patch or bank with a MIDI message FROM the Headrush Gigboard. So, if I change the preset on the Gigboard it automatically changes the preset on the Ampero Control?
Do you know anything about midi clock specifically and how to sync up devices? I am aware the Ampero Control does not have midi clock, but can i use this to then control the Ampero II Stomp (which does have midi clock), and then use the midi clock of the Stomp to send a clock signal to the Collider and sync those devices up that way. Kind of. You would need to plug the Ampero Control and the MG30 into a computer or hub of some kind. Leo Gibson produced a video that demonstrates this I believe.
Do you have any info on how to send midi messages to the ampero control? I want my other midi device to send bank up/down messages to the ampero control, but I can't find any info or midi charts online. Hotone support don't seem to reply.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give it some thought. Theoretically it should work if the vst can receive midi messages. The Ampero control is simply a midi device like a keyboard or drum machine so working with a daw is a snap.
Has anyone tried this controller with the Beatbuddy? It would be nice to have one touch ability to control the BB vs two presses for outro, etc. Midi Maestro looks nice but pretty expensive.
Hi can you add a different cc message in the button 1 that you just created? My goal is to send a more than 2 different cc messages on each button. My goal is to send a cc message to my beatbuddy to go for a transition and a different cc mesage to my bandhelper to scroll down my lyrics. Thank you
It's working well with RC5, depending on your CC# assigned function, you'd have to choose in the app toggle/momentary/single option for each FS. I haven't tried tap tempo yet, I don't think tap tempo would work, perhaps Temp+ and temp- could work. Also, this MIDI is working well, if you want to control the drum sections, eg. changing variations or patterns
The display is far too small to read onstage and the choice of blue LEDs was bad as they are hard to read on a stage due to UV they emit and their brightness.. Should have had a large RED or GREEN led segment display. There’s gid reason why BOSS use red and Voodoo Labs use Green in there controllers, Also there are no LEDs above each footswitch either so you don’t know where you are. I had very high hopes for this product but it’s unuseable live due to someone thinking a small digit blue led display looked cool but never thought how it would work on a stage.. You can’t use it live without bending down to read the little blue display then deciphering what the display actually means and memorising which switch is active due to no led above each switch. Very easy to get lost because of the bad display and absence of LEDs above the switches. Great product otherwise, the whole concept is great, it’s very easy to use, set up etc and app is great. But get rid of the little blue display and put a big red or green digit display that shows which “Bank No” you’re at (not what PC# you’re sending out) and let the led above the switch tell you the patch number you’re on, and fit each switch with a RED or GREEN led above the switches. Pedal manufacturers are obsessed with blue LEDs these days and blue leds make everything very hard to use live. It either blinds you or you can’t read it because it looks fuzzy due to the UV light that blue LEDs emit.

@@OscarSL80 not sure if you managed to work it out on your own yet, but I got mine today and have been scratching my head most of the day trying to figure it out. might not be the full story, but I think I'm onto something...
in the Hotone app, when you add/edit a control to one of the switches (using the plus button or clicking the box to edit it), there are two data numbers--Data 1 is the MIDI CC channel, I think...Data 2 is the MIDI value (0-127) you want to send. that Data 2 option was really unintuitive to figure out for me. if you're sending a 0 or 1 or something like that for Data 2, chances are it's not going to actually do anything--especially if you're trying to select or toggle something. when I started entering a 127 in that field, it was doing what I wanted it to--in my case, switching to a desired macro variation in Ableton Live.
you also have to make sure to save your changes via the Save button in the upper right of the app in order for your changes to get sent through.
if you want to set a parameter to a particular value, you first need to figure out the MIDI value of the setting you want (on that 0-127 scale), then just set up the trigger to send that value in the Data 2 field in the app. an example of this is I wanted to set a knob to a value of 10 out of 127, so in the app I entered '10' into the Data 2 field.
one other thing is, use the Single mode in the app to select a value (e.g. you have multiple different patches assigned to different switches and each switch takes you to the associated patch--pressing the same switch twice won't do anything additional)...to set up a toggle (e.g. record arm a track, and use the same switch to un-arm), use the Toggle mode and set up the A Group with Data 2 = 0 and B Group with Data 2 = 127, or vice-versa, depending on how you want it to work.
here are the settings for one of the entries in the Hotone app for one of the controls I set up successfully:
- Channel = Omni
- Type = CC
- Data 1 = 27 (don't think this matters as long as it's unique from other switches and banks you're using--unless you want it to overlap on purpose, of course)
- Data 2 = 127 (you can use anything above 64 for a toggle on message--or set the specific value you want if it's not a select/ toggle)
- Output To = USB (obviously you'll set this according to your connection type--if in doubt, I think you can choose all three--USB+MIDI+Bluetooth)
hopefully this helps someone else. it doesn't seem too difficult to grasp once you understand what that Data 2 piece is for, but the documentation doesn't do a great job of explaining it, so it can kind of leave you guessing how to get it working.

It should work as long as there is MIDI I/O on the EWI
I just found your channel as I just bought this device. Is there any videos covering the rest of the topics you mentioned . I am a total newb to midi and kind of find it intimidating lol
Great video btw, I subscribed
I am considering more content for the future. Thanks for the suggestion
Does it turn on/off when pressing or releasing the footswitch button? In manual is stated when releasing the footswitch which is not ok cause when you play live, you would like to change an effect on the beat!
I'm trying to set up my Hotone Ampero Control with my desktop Bias FX 2. Do I have to use the phone to set up? Because I'm having a hard time getting this to work.
You need to set it up with the phone.
@@ThePedalGuy Okay thanks for the tip, I will keep trying.
Great video! I’d like to see this connected to an XR 18 mixer to mute effects.
So, this thing has multiple patches you can save to is there a way to send a message just by switching patches? Example if you're running a 4 channel preamp (2notes lebass) and each patch have a different channel in use without wasting a button or step
Good question. Not that I’m aware of. You would load the patch then send the messages
@The Pedal Guy guess I have to figure out how to expand this somehow. I see that there are inputs on it..
I'm not sure if I understood, but I use this midi controller with a katana artist and I can set it that way, so I press the fs and it goes to whatever channel I chose with the effects I want too
@@johnnymontero107 think of it this way. If you had a patch for every song, when u switch patches and had different amp models would u have to press a button to turn that model on, or would it be active by virtue of the fact that it’s on that setting?
Hi Scott, thanks for the video.
I'm going crazy trying to control an Strymon Iridium.
I have tried everything and I cannot find de solution.
Thanks!
Haven't tried it with the Strymon stuff
Hi, I'm trying to midi to Boss RC-500 to use the Ampero to: start record, stop record, change track and change program on RS-500n preset up.can you please help?
Rob
Can you use it with NUX MG30? Does it have MIdi host-functions?
Hi. It doesn’t have midi hosting. But you can use it with the mg30. I did a livestream last week that will show you this.
Could you program this so that pressing the footswitch gives you Preset 1, but holding the footswitch gives you preset 2? So effectively you could access 8 presets easily.
I'm not sure but I suspect that wouldn't work. What would be a good workaround would be to create another bank as you have 100 to assign.
Yes you can, but it is better to use the toggle option so you can set FS1 to change between preset 1 and 2, FS2 for present 3 and 4 and so on... That how I do it with this midi controller and a katana artist
Hey do you think it would be a good choice for rc500?
I haven’t used it with the rc500 so I couldn’t tell you for sure
Hi.can I use on yamaha thr30ii?
If it has MIDI IO then yes.
Hi there! I'm trying to use the Ampero Control to switch on/off effect pedals in my Neural DSP plugins in Studio One. But I can't seem to get Studio One to detect MIDI input. Is there a specific way to set this up? I have the Ampero connected to the PC via USB and I've set the MIDI messages to USB in the Ampero App. I've tried setting it up in Studio One as a keyboard, control surface and instrument and nothing seems to do the trick. What's even weirder is that I'm using a MIDI monitoring software called MidiView and it shows the exact midi messages coming from the Ampero Control that I assigned in the app.
Much thanks!
Can this be used for nux mg300?
Yes but it’s a little tricky. You need a USB to midi host box.
Hi Scott,
do you know if it is possible and how to write a note (FS note) in the Ampero Control software?
Also I'm wondering if it is possible to move banks in the Bank List.
Any experience?!
Working on that now
I just bought this to control the Boss V-500
Let us know how it works out for ya.
Thanks for the review. Does it work with DAWs flawlessly?
I got it working with reaper just fine
@@ThePedalGuy Thanks, i'm planning to switch fx on/off in Hx Native in Reaper, hope that does it.
@@purplewound as long as you know the midi messages it should be fine
Can i use this two control two devices simultaneously (ie Hotone Ampero 2 and Source Audio Collider)?
You should be able to. You can send multiple messages on each footswitch
how can i be connecting and using ampero stomp 2 and m5 from line 6 at the same time?
MIDI Thru.
Can you do a demo with Ampero Control and bias fx 2 🙏🏻
Thanks. I don’t use bias fx so prob not gonna happen
Great thanks
Can anyone help me with the expression aspect of the Ampero Control pedal? I got a M-Audio Ex-P expression pedal and can't get it to control my wah in my Neural DSP Cory Wong amp sim.
I'm building a rack for wet dry wet. I'm putting all my dry effects stomp pedals and my wet pedals in drawers in the rack that are connected to two separate switches, one dry one wet. The switches are voodoo lab gcx that are midi.
Can this foot switch controller work with the switches? I was thinking 2 separate midi controller pedals one dry one for wet.
In short: Does the midi clock of the modeller negate this not having midi clock?
That should work as the Ampero control would be routed to the midi in on the Ampero while the midi out on the Ampero would send out midi clock
@@ThePedalGuy Thanks so much!
Can I assign the switches of the ampero MIDI controller to a concret patch? For example: switch 1 of the MIDI controller to activate Patch 1 of Bank 2
You should be able to. It will send any midi messages you want. As long as the receiving device can read them.
@@ThePedalGuy If I use other Midi controller brand, I Have to use the ampero app to configurate the switches or the app included with the MIDI Controller??? Sorry for my ignorance but I have to consider many options before buying nothing
@@mtaskapablo the Ampero control app only works with the Ampero control as far as configuration goes
Sometimes I press footswitch 1 and 2 unintentionally and it changes the bank... Is there any form to disable this default function? Thanks a lot! 🙏
Can you use that with the Headrush mx5? I’m gonna get one of those mx5 soon.
Yes. It will work with the mx5
bought it for controling a spark 40 amp but cant connect the 2? anyone done it?
Not sure. I haven't
can this be used in HX Stomp?
If it has a MIDI port then yes it will work
Hey Scott,
thanks for the Video - you asked if we'd like to see the ampero hooked up with any other device >> I would love to see how you deal with setting it up with the BOSS RC 505 MK1 Loop station - basically what I am looking for is a way to bring the most possible control down to my feet aswell for maximum flexibility also using hand-held-instruments besides the voice (which this Looper is made for, that's why all the buttons are made for hands - but when I have my hands full with another Instrument... well - do you get where I'm coming from? ^^'
if anybody has any helpfull references on this, I'd be more than happy to hear/ see/ watch! :)
thanks and cheers*
Hi, do you know ir I can use this pedal with the positive grid amp?
Anything that accepts MIdi
Thanks for the video! I just followed the steps explained in this video for configuring my Guitar Rig 5 but something is not working. The GR5 recognize the midi signal during the configuration, but when i try to do it with the footswitch it doesnt work. Could you give some help on this?
Hmmm. Not sure I can help in this case as I haven’t used guitar rig in a really long time.
@@ThePedalGuy thanks for your answer anyway! I can tell you that I finally found the way to configure the Ampero foot switch with the Guitar rig 5 .. it just was a matter of finding the steps
Hey Scott, great video! I'm am hoping to use this controller to switch between FX/Presets in Bias FX 2. If you have any time, I'd greatly appreciate your assistance. I'm missing something and it's becoming a bit frustrating. Thanks!
Hi Jesse. Thanks for watching. I’m not sure how much help I would be in this case as I haven’t used bias fx. Does it receive midi messages?
@@ThePedalGuy yes. I've sent my bank to Omni, PC(since I'm trying to switch presents to start), assigning single for buttons 1 & 2 and assigning those to my presents and it's not registering in bias. I have my bias settings set to all channels and device connected.
Hey Scott, I got it working. Had to tweak something in Bias to get it to recognize the controller. Super STOKED!
@@Fretboardcheesa cool!
@@Fretboardcheesa
Please let me know what you tweaked to get it to work, I’m having same setup issues with bias fx 2
Is there a way to use both the switch and the expression pedal together?
Not sure I understand your question. Please expand
@@ThePedalGuy thank you for responding 😊 i want to connect to an Ampero 2 the ampero switch pedal and an expression pedal like the Ampero Soultone 2 and use both at the same time (the switch to go up and down patched and the soultone as a wah pedal). Is this possible?
Actually I think this will answer your question. It covers the Ampero 2 stomp but it should help. ruclips.net/video/-aEDkx5xP9w/видео.html
@The Pedal Guy awesome! Thanks ill check it out 😁
Does anyone know if you can add more scenes with this to one rig? Thanks
Why am I not seeing anything in the playstore that specifically says Ampero Control app?
Couldn't tell you. Have you asked Hotone?
Is it compatible with nux mg 30?
Kind of. You would need to plug the Ampero Control and the MG30 into a computer or hub of some kind. Leo Gibson produced a video that demonstrates this I believe.
Do you know if 2 of these can be daisy chained?
Can this be used w the Hotone Pluze?
Do you have any info on how to send midi messages to the ampero control? I want my other midi device to send bank up/down messages to the ampero control, but I can't find any info or midi charts online. Hotone support don't seem to reply.
Hah, actually don't worry - Hotone got back to me just now. It can't be controlled by other devices.
LOL. Glad you got the question answered.
Can this control 2 devices at once?
Yes depending what on what you are trying to control
Hello. Great video!!! I was wondering if we can use it with VSTs inside a DAW. It'd be amazing to if you could make a video on that! :-) Cheers!!!
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give it some thought. Theoretically it should work if the vst can receive midi messages. The Ampero control is simply a midi device like a keyboard or drum machine so working with a daw is a snap.
@@ThePedalGuy yes. that's what I think too. It should work.. :)
@@ThePedalGuy I'm interested in that too! Please do a review with VSTs inside a DAW!!!
Will it wrk on Boss Gt1000 core?
Has anyone tried this controller with the Beatbuddy? It would be nice to have one touch ability to control the BB vs two presses for outro, etc. Midi Maestro looks nice but pretty expensive.
I'm sure it would work. I haven't tried it myself but MIDI is MIDI. So if there's CC messages for the BeatBuddy functions you want, you can map it.
@@ThePedalGuy Thanks!
Hi can you add a different cc message in the button 1 that you just created? My goal is to send a more than 2 different cc messages on each button. My goal is to send a cc message to my beatbuddy to go for a transition and a different cc mesage to my bandhelper to scroll down my lyrics. Thank you
As I recall you can put multiple messages on one footswitch.
Can it be used as a page turner as well?
Not sure. Depends on the app used to turn pages and whether it receives midi
Can you send multiple channel messages with one footswitch?
does this work for windows?
someone use hotone midi control with a Chase Bliss pedal? or Boss RC5?
It's working well with RC5, depending on your CC# assigned function, you'd have to choose in the app toggle/momentary/single option for each FS. I haven't tried tap tempo yet, I don't think tap tempo would work, perhaps Temp+ and temp- could work. Also, this MIDI is working well, if you want to control the drum sections, eg. changing variations or patterns

I dont get the load button in my app :(. I have iOS.
Hey! Could it work with specular tempus? I'm pretty ignorant on midi

Controlling the 1010 music Blackbox and turning it into a live looper
has anyone been able to pair this with windows 10 bluetooth?
Haven't tried it myself.
Ok
