Outstanding, the way the lamination allows you to see the quartersawn effect all the way around the legs. Always loved those beveled through tenons. And that finish is just pure art.
I was very happy to see that you started posting these on your YT. I’ve heard your show talked about many times on podcasts like WoodTalk and I was hoping to find a place to watch some episodes. This show really seems ahead of it’s time with how much it covers.
These shows were my greatest influence in woodworking back in the late 90s. I am so glad to finally see a few of them again here. I'm curious to find out after 25 years how many of David's techniques are still a part of my routines. I love woodworking and David is the man that gave me this gift. Now, lets get the rest of the episodes published here
Great job David, the Mission design is a classic. It's good to see that you are able to run these shows again, your work has always inspired me to work beyond my comfort zone ! I made a few of your pieces when this series first aired and has now has kick started me again, Thank You !
Hey Mark, you are very welcome! And it's good to hear that you are inspired to work beyond your comfort zone, which is something that I still push myself to do at age 72.
This is amazing!! I am so glad to find this. I remember watching these years ago in learning so much. That's awesome that this is starting to become available online for people you can't afford his DVDs. David is such a wealth of knowledge.
I never missed one of your show’s. There is so much to learn from watching. There are many techniques on cutting and finishing that can be applied to both turning and furniture making.
One correction. You can use ammonia from the hardware store. It just takes longer. At least for smaller items like frames. It helps using a tray for the ammonia for more surface area.
Hey Greg, thanks for your comment.I still have several boards of The Tree left and plan to use one for an upcoming marquetry art piece.I also plan to bandsaw some for some dreadnought guitar backs and sides .
@@DavidJMarks David, thanks for obliging my curiosity! I bought a back and side set last year. I've taken the pieces out of the packaging a few times just to stare at them. I've got about 40 guitars to build before I get to that set... I have a feeling you already have access to a side bender and other fixtures for the guitar. If you don't, let me know. I own a guitar tool company and we have bending machines, etc. I'd be happy to send one out to you.
Hey John, yes we do sell plans to some of my projects. Here's a link to our eStore and you can order them through my wife Victoria : djmarks.com/product-category/plans/season-1-plans/

Hey John, thanks very much!Hahaha, yes it was kinda funny to see and hear that ratchet wrench at the end!
This is the first time I saw someone veneer for quarter sawn on all four leg faces and also the first time I saw a multirouter! Great stuff!
Thanks very much! I veneered the 2 plain sawn sides of each of the 4 legs.I learned this from some original Stickley pieces.

Thanks for reposting these David! I've gotta ask how much of your chunk of "The Tree" is left? I remember seeing it on your show years ago.
