- This 1970 Challenger RT Vanishing Point Build was built from the AMT kit but with a few improvements. Mainly changing out the engine for the one in the AMT 1971 Charger RT. That way I could build it as a 440 Magnum with A/C.

Excellent build!
Thanks!
Very nice build. Great work to get all of the parts from various kits in one mesh together. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 👍. This one wasn’t too bad for that but some of that is experience. I put the same 440 but kept the automatic trans in my resin body 70 Challenger RT/SE.
Great build!! Growing up, I was a die-hard chevy guy....but after watching Vanishing Point, I got interested in Dodge & Plymouth musel cars.
Right on! I was raised Ford myself. I love them all but Mopars are my favorite.
Awesome build Raoul. I love how correct you made it. I love the movie primarily because of the car, the stunts and the actor. DMCL is a must watch for any Mopar fan. I have several of these Kits including 2 VP kits. 👍
Thank you. It was a fun build.
It looks amazing. I didn’t know this Challenger model kit will look great in white 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It does! Thanks!
Nice build! Looks realistic👍
Thanks! 👍
Another great looking build, out of what looks to be not a great kit. Great work, again! Thanks!
Thanks! I like the kit but it does have some challenges. I wouldn’t recommend this one for the beginner.
"Every bone in her crotch - that's what I'm gonna break!" - Crazy Larry ;)
When I first saw Vanishing Point - Charlotte Rampling was not in it. Both movies were as iconic as Two Lane...
Super Soul mentioned a Supercharger - probably referring more to what Kowalski was on than to what was under the hood.
Another fantastic build, there - you nailed it like normal. Two Dozers, er - Thumbs up!
Thanks. It came out great!
I watched that’ movie, at a Drive In as a kid back in the early seventies. Your video has stirred up my interest in seeing it again. I remember it being a good movie, and your video brought up a lot of cool things about it. I’m gonna see if I can watch it tonight. 👍
Very cool.
You hit this one out of the park Raoul! The engine compartment is excellent. You also did a very nice job on the rallye wheels, and the foil job is top-notch. I really appreciate the effort that you put into your videos. You taught me a few things about the Vanishing Point Challenger that I didn’t know.
Thank you very much!
The '70 Dodge Challenger is one of my favorite muscle cars and you really did an excellent job both building and painting your AMT '70 Vanishing Point Dodge Challenger R/T, Raoul!
Thanks 👍
Sweet build. You’re one of my favourite builders. You demonstrate a high bar of building, that can be achieved with sheer patience, without spending a ton of cash 👍👍👍
Wow, thank you! While I do like wiring, photo etch and resin parts. I don’t believe every build should have them or has to be better than the last build.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I like the photo etch, wiring, and resin as well. But like you said, not every build has to have them. When you do add them, they compliment your already outstanding builds.
Makes me want to watch the movie! :)
LOL!
@@TheMuscleCarModeler ... Seen the movie 100 plus times. Loved it. The only thing is that it did not have hood pins. I am sure you know that. Besides that, you put a lot of time and did a nice work of ART.
Nope. I completely missed that. All that time staring at pictures! LOL! The hood hole was filled in before I had a plan on what to build. Well, I still have white paint, two more hoods with holes to fill and a few more sets of extra 71 Charger decals. So, I will make another hood. for this build and get another hood ready for the Hemi Challenger Convertible that is planned.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler ...Good for you.
I love the way you can work with the chrome foil, excellent application.😊
Thank you so much!
Nice build looks awsome.
Thank you!
Nice job on this one, Raoul. Even though it’s “only white.” I loved the Camaro at the end, too. They didn’t mind smashing the Challengers up, but I guess they didn’t want to destroy one. Nice job on the roof.
Oh, Raoul?
Thanks.
Another beautiful build! Love the white paint, love your chrome work!!! Never seen this film, I might have to watch it now
Thanks so much!
Awesome build, great job. I would like to build one or two of this kit as the Vanishing point Challenger. I like the movie remake better than the original, which is rare for me because i usually like the original movie's. I think it would be cool to build a Challenger from the original movie and do another one like the remake movie car. I have seen 2 of the movie cars from the Vanishing Point remake. Pretty cool to see 👍😎
Thank you. I have been tempted to build the Hemi car from the remake also and do it a bit dirty. I haven’t decided. My next build of this tool will be a convertible. Either a 440 Six Pack shaker car or a Hemi without shaker. None of the 9 factory Hemi convertible’s received the optional shaker hood.
White paint, as you point out, isn't always "white". When my Dad painted his white Ford van, his Toyota 4X4 pickup truck and later my 1975 Firebird, he didn't like "bright white", as it just wasn't "right". He mixed a pint of Almond into a gallon of White, and it took the sharpness off, looked much better.
It’s funny how white isn’t truly white. Same with red. Actual red pigment is more of an orange red. What is considered bright red has some black and blue it.
Awesome build!! I may have to make me a copy. 😅
Go for it! Thanks!
Nice looking build
Thank you!
Very nice build looks great!! 😎✌️
Thanks 👍
Nice job. Have a great day!!!
Thanks! You too!
Killer build! For some reason the challenger is my least favorite Mopar. I’m a big body Mopar guy😂. Again, I appreciate walking us thru your process and dropping your knowledge on us.👍👍
What do you mean by Big Body Mopar Guy? C-body?
@@TheMuscleCarModeler actually that would be the B body mid size. My favorites are the 68’ & 69’ coronet, charger, GTX platforms. I do like some of the smaller A platform cars as well. I’m 3d printing a 70’ Chrysler 300 right now with a 68’ Coronet in the Q.👍🏻👍🏻
Cool. I have the 3D 70 Chrysler 300H. It printed OK. I don’t have a printer myself so I can’t print another one.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler .. The Challenger is an E Body Platform.
My favourite Mopar! I have a '70 R/T U-code in dark green (not everyone's cup of tea!). You did this stunning car justice with your model. I wish my real one was in anywhere near as good condition!
Thanks! 👍I would love to have a 70 Challenger!
Came out real nice! Funny how it cost them a dollar a day to use these cars only to return them as junk. I hope the sales of the cars went up during the time of the movie. I'll have to watch it one of these days.
Thanks. It was the beginning of product placement and Ford and Chrysler understood this. GM didn’t. That’s why hardly and GM cars in movies. AMC actually begged to there cars in the Bond movie. The Iconic Bond DB5 almost didn’t appear. They were offered other cars but the producers wanted that car. Austin Martin told them that if they wanted one, they had to buy it like everyone one else. Then I understand that they changed their minds and gave them a prototype and a second car.
Nice work. Really enjoy your vids
Glad you like them! Thank you!
very cool! and thanks for the video!!
Glad you liked it!
Turned out very nice. I believe the cars were scraped because the movie bombed in the theaters. If the movie had been a hit there would have been collectors looking for those cars.
Thank you! I’m not sure when movie cars became collectible. They were always a gamble as they were usually trashed and needed lots of work to be presentable.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler ... If they were sold to the public by Chrysler, after being roughed up, there would have been Lawsuits if something dangerously went wrong with any of the 5 Challengers. To the best of my knowledge. By the way, great video.
"possibly supercharged" is the line. I'm not a model builder but this came up in my feed. I have owned a white '70 Challenger and still own a '14 Challenger that is also white.
Thanks and very cool!
I watched Vanishing Point at the drive in theater, sitting at the wheel of my 4 speed, 70 Dodge Challenger R/T
I would have gotten a speeding ticket leaving the drive inn! Cool memories!
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I think the cops had a poster of it since it it was bright yellow, running 28” slicks and no exhaust. I learned a lot of back roads. You’re right, great memories. Thanks for your videos Raul.
From what I read the 383 car was green all the other were white, the reference to supercharging was a cop speculating about the car. A cool car to do speaking of Challengers would be a 1972 convertible that was done for The Mod Squad it was 1 of 2 because the convertible was dropped at the end of 71 but they were getting cars ready for the 72 season of The Mod Squad. Basically they took a 1971 340 convertible and put a 72 nose and tail treatment on it. Finished in classic Gold Metallic with beautiful matching interior and Black convertible top. I guess sort of like the Barracuda for Nash Bridges there was a combination of 70 cars converted to be 71 as well as real 71 cars also convertibles.
It was a 440 4 speed car that was green painted white.
It is unknown what cars were what colors originally. Or if any of them came white from Dodge.
I would be interested to know how they were equipped from Dodge and if they just went to a dealer and picked up 5 off the lot and Dodge took care of the dealer.
As for the Mod Squad car. I don’t have any plans to build that one or the 72 Barracuda convertible that appeared on The Brady Bunch.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler ...I do not know how many were white. Hard to say. Back then was just car rentals to show their products.
How did you slide the chassis in?
It’s the kit chassis and it slides right it. You have to tuck in the rear first then push up the front.
I really prefer the hood as you've done it. Does the AMT special edition USPS Tin include that hood, or only the open hood/hood scoop?
Scalemates only shows an image from the rear.
I have the tin version and it has both RT hoods. One with hole and one without.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler ok, I had bypassed it, not knowing that, but now I'll have to go back on the hunt for one.
Would you happen to know if a model of the 2006 mustang was built
Revell did do one. www.ebay.com/itm/315490857837
@TheMuscleCarModeler I've had no luck, do you have a extra one for sale , trying to replicate one for a friend who has one
No, I don't have one, but that eBay link is for sale.
The car’s that they used in the movie where probably some that couldn’t be sold to the public more than likely they were pre production car’s
I agree that they were not in sellable condition.
