Joy and Steven's duet was AMAZING!
It was 😊
They should record the whole thing and release it for fun
The fact that even SCC sways while singing that song is priceless!
I enjoy both Joy and Steven too.
Luv the fact that…Yet Again…they Gave Brother Chapman, my Dear Friend, His Own Song!!
I loved how SCC just did NOT want to say the name of that first song 😂😂😂.
Not knowing the song, I mistakenly thought he was stalling for time. When he finally said it I was like "oh."
Non of us good baptist boys said it even in the Biblical context lol
Carmen was his own entire genre, such a unique guy who experimented with styles, collabs, and story-telling.
From rock, to rap, to old southern gospel, to theatrical stories told through song and crazy costumes. Carmen was one-of-a-kind with such God-given raw talent to teach, preach, and entertain all at the same time.
He was amazing. My first concert in, I think , ’84.
I’m just stunned that Chonda gave away her points and is absolutely satisfied! Goals! ❤
Yes, she was just feeding songs and answers. I think she could’ve won easily!
Cooool
Is anyone gonna point out that SCC is wearing a Colony House shirt, reppin and support his kids’ band!! We love to see it🤘🏼
A. I love that SCC is wearing merch from his sons, that’s awesome!!
B. JOY. OH MY WORD. She and Steven harmonized so perfectly at one specific point in that song, I was like GIRL. Knowing how big of an SCC fan she is I loved seeing that
I get so hyped when they randomly throw in bands like Stryper or Petra 😂🔥
Yess I love them
Chonda not being competitive at all is so heartwarming! Love her!!
Steven Curtis cracks me up!!
“I wanna a massage 💆♂️😂” 4:21
Carmen - The Champion was actually a song that my brother’s karate school used when they put on demos at different churches in Georgia. They did a nice representation of Jesus defeating Satan, karate style. It was special 4:40
DC talk was the jam in the mid to late 80’s.
I sang El Shaddai in church when I was young. So many memories.. ❤
I sang it in French. You know a song is good when it gets translated in other languages.
I was in tears watching this.... from laughter and from reminiscing of those days. Thank you for this!
Man I absolutely LOVE Steven Curtis Chapman
Chanda is such a wonderful person, and still every bit as funny as she ever was. "That's terrible...cause she's dead'.. 😂
So bad
Y'all should do a southern gospel song battle.
Doubt they could find anyone to know enough of the songs to do it.
They should bring Mark Lowry in, that’d be hilarious
Definitely would be challenging. I may even give it a go if they did it.
Bring in Mark, Chondra (since they are dating), and da man himself, Bill Gaither.
@@stormalexa8817 yes I love Mark Lowry bring him and bill together that would be fun
As a child born in 1994, I am so impressed that I only didn't know one of these songs from the first few notes! I grew up listening to all of these except Stryper. That was an amazing blast from the past!
Also, what a great duet with Joy and SCC! His ability to harmonize is amazing!
Chonda Pierce in this video is such a mood XD
You should start listening to Stryper, they're really good. The only album that I didn't care much for is the most controversial title that I don't feel comfortable repeating. I'll title it Damn Evil. There just a few good songs on that album. I felt it was too heavy.
@sportsygirl8 God Damn Evil imo definitely had more misses than hits but some of the songs on there are fantastic
@@peterhanna3206 I totally agree with that. The album that followed that Even the Devil Believes was awesome and one of my favorites from Stryper. The Final Battle is darn good as well.
❤
I like how Chonda just gives up on the game and just tries to teach Ruth who is who
Songs battles never get old! Love these 😆❤️❤️
“I have too pee and I’m hungry” story of my life haha
Steven and Chonda just showed up to have some fun.
Def need more of the 80s and early 90s Christian song battles like this, with diff music artist😊 guests
WHOA - the Twila Paris song took me back to my childhood, playing with Legos - haven't heard that in 30+ years
I was born on 1980 and mostly listened to Michael W Smith, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman growing up. Oh, and dc Talk, PFR, and Rich Mullins in high school.
Don't forget Our Brothers In Christ The Band White Heart 🤍 Too.
Friends was my class song in 1988! That song will never die.
Patra - This Means War is the song I requested every time at Christian Skate at our roller rink
MWS "Friends " was our senior song because our school banned prayer at graduation. This was our workaround.
Joy getting to sing with SCC again! Beyond jealous. Grew up singing harmony to all his songs. Always dreamed I could sing with him, just one time 😂
Joy and Steven were GOLDEN made my night!!
I didn't know SCC was so funny 😂 This was great!!
the Via Dolorosa makes me cry to this day, my dad sang that song at my great grandpa's funeral as a kid and it always stuck with me. He sang it in full spanish and it will always be my favorite song but i can only listen to it once in a great while because it stills makes me cry.
How can you not love Awesome God?!
I’m so happy y’all are bringing these back. I love the song battles.
This video brought back all the feels of being a kid worshiping without the struggles of life! Miss good music like this... wonder if there is a Pandora station with 80's Christian music.... be right back gonna go look! hehehe
Probably one of the most fun things I've seen on RUclips in a long, long, LONG time!
This video is all my childhood. Haha! My mom sang Sandy Patti and Twila Paris and some Amy Grant at church.
Dave and Wally match each other's energy so we'll.
6:12. I LOVE Joy she gets so excited and has the best personality. 😆
This is so fun to watch! ❤️🎶
This has been my favorite song battle to date!! Love this so much!!
I Appreciate that Chonda gave Ruth those 3 points haha
I wish they would do another one. These bring back a ton of memories.
My husband and I just watched four of these song battles for an impromptu date. It was so fun! Thanks for them. ~Steve's wife
So much fun. Love you guys.
I love these videos so much! I always try to answer as if I were participating in the song battle haha Can't wait to see this one🙌
I love these videos!!!
Yaaaassss...and SCC reppin' Colony House is icing on the cake 😊
Loved this!!
This was great!!!!
I find these immensely entertaining!!!!! Y’all make me laugh and remember “the good ole days!”
Singing “Friends” in graduation! Times have changed. Now that would have been a big deal to allow anything Christian in a school graduation. I miss the 80s. I thank God I have you guys and my Christian family during these times.
Outside of Stryper I remember all of these songs, a specific memory from my childhood: the soloist in my church's Easter program would wear a rubber chicken under her costume/robe so she wouldn't cry singing Via Delorosa.
This was hilarious! Thank you!
We must protect Chonda at all cost 😂❤❤❤
I just discovered these song battles and they bring back so many memories. I'd love to see you all do more of them. Maybe an 80's worship song battle. Or maybe some more 90's song battles as well. Hope to see more of these!
This was awesome! Highly entertaining.
Steven says''I want a massage suddenly''! I yell out ''Oh.. Mary Beth''!!🤣
This was a huge blast from the past! Now I wanna go get out all my old cassettes. 😂
This was fun! Some of them took me a minute. Thank you for sharing!
I loved this one! I still listen to a lot of those songs!!!
That was so cool!!! I loved this battle! I guessed Awesome God and Via Dolorosa right away!!! My life is now complete lol. Thanks so much for using my suggestion! Shout-out to Kaylee!!! ❤❤❤
this was awesome! :)
That was totally rad like sweet job everyone and God bless you all
That was funnnn!
Awesome! Loved it and, they were all so funny!😃😆
I became a Christian in the 90s but I still knew most of the songs. Everybody did pretty well. I 💖💖 Steven Curtis Chapman.
Dude! So much nostalgia here!
This was really fun! I'm glad you guys finally got around to doing this. I believe I suggested an 80s song battle on one of the earlier battle episodes. Even though I was born in '88 and didn't get into Christian music until 2004, I've since become familiar with lots of songs from the 80s and 90s, and I was happy I knew all but one song (Petra's "This Means War") within the first few seconds.
Wally and Dave were so funny😂!!
I hope For King & Country is there!!❤
Me too❤
Going to see them May 5 in College Station TX! Can't wait
Geez I would of mopped the floor with you guys on this. I have every album that was played in this video.
My favorite Carmen song was A Witch's Invitation but then again I loved that whole album.
Same. Our family listened to Revival In The Land so much, we practically have all the songs memorized! We even have the VHS tape haha.
I didn't know a single one until the very end! 😂 Love the song battles, though!
Awesome God by Rich Mullins! 🥰
I LOVE these videos y’all 😂😂
Joy and SCC really need to do more stuff together. LOL
That was fun to watch.
That was a lot of fun. Knew most of these as quickly as they did!
So glad you did a Rich Mullins song! What a fun video!
This one actually made me laugh out loud. I knew most of these songs…which made me pretty excited. Lol!
This is fun and amazing...and now I feel really old because I knew almost all of these. LOL
These are the best videos!
Who didn’t edit out Chonda saying, “cause he’s dead” 😳😬🤣
Oh my gosh!!! This is so awesome and hilarious! I totally forgot about Carmen!! I used to love him! Michael W Smith.. Friends are Friends Forever was the song sang our my high school graduation in 1988!!! Probably ever graduating class in the 80s had this song. 😁
Excited brings me joy
Carmen was my first concert, too!!! And one of my very first CDs, along with DC Talk, Jars of Clay, and Michael W. Smith 🥰
YES!!! Now you're talking my era. Born in 1975, grew up listening to this music--except Stryper. For some reason, I know Petra but never heard Stryper's music . My favorite station was KVNE in Tyler, Texas. Broke my heart when we moved too far to get the signal in the late 1980s. That's also when I sat on my bed crying to MWS's Friends song because I was missing my pals. Rough time.
So many amazing songs! Thanks for the walk down memory lane! By the way, my first two concerts were Carmen, then NKOTB.
I went to Liberty University when DC Talk went there and I must have heard Heavenbound performed hundreds of times. 😂
I STILL want to know how Toby got the Tulane sweatshirt that he wore in the video (I attended Tulane University in New Orleans from '85-'90)! I was SHOCKED but VERY glad when they started out the video with STRYPER! And unlike SCC or some others on here, I have NO problem saying the title of that song ;) I was kidded in college for liking "The Bumblebee Group" as one person put it. I did actually see Stryper twice in NO, including AT TULANE!
THE BUMBLEBEE GROUP!!! I'M WEAK! 🤣🤣🤣
12:08 The Harmonizing part everyone was talking about.
Loved it
I really enjoyed this one. I graduated high school in 86. While I grew up in church, Amy Grant’s Unguarded was my first time hearing Christian Contemporary Music. A friend introduced me to Stryper and “To Hell with the Devil.” was one of my first cassettes to buy. I loved that cover.
I was a big SCC fan. I think I had every cd of his between For sake of the call and Declaration. He and Joy were entertaining together.
I haven’t heard much of Chondra Pierce’s act. She impressed me a lot in this. Loved the connection to Minnie Pearl. My mother did a lot of skits in Church and women’s meetings using a character she based on Minnie Pearl.
My first concert was either Amy Grant's Unguarded tour or Carmen. They happened kind of close to each other, and I just don't remember which happened first. And Carmen's Revival in the land is still one of my favorite songs. He always had epically long intros.
Very good!
80s Christian. NICE! I’m expecting there to be some SCC, Amy Grant, Carman, Stryper, etc. It’s funny how I was born in 2009 and I know about this stuff lol
My hubby and I love this
This was fun! ❤😊
I knew them ALL! Such great memories! I could have this round!
Lemme tell y'all, I GOT SOOOO EXCITED BY THE TITLE, ‘cause the 80s is pretty much my favourite of the “Golden Three" eras of music in my opinion (70s, 80s, and 90s).
That being said…here comes my list of standout moments from this vid!!! PLEASE don’t read if you haven’t watched this video yet. Spoiler alerts and all haha. OK HERE WE GO:
1. Steven not wanting to say the title of the first song at 0:51. I still can’t say it myself haha.
2. Wally vs. The Bell at 1:25
3. Dave going all “local-fan” and singing Amy’s signature hit at 2:23 with the music video in the back lol. That edit was solid.
4. HEAVENBOUND!!! Need I say more? (The song’s my JAM!)
5. Wally putting words in Toby’s mouth at 3:26. I’m like, “Did he really say ‘light it up’?” Haha.
6. Ruth and "The Imperials" at 3:56. Sure, imagine Elvis, Jake Hess, or even Russ Taff catching a vibe with this beat! I died laughing :)
7. CARMAN!!!!!!!!! (4:09) I LOVE THAT MAN!!!! HUGE SHOUT OUT TO WAY NATION FOR INCLUDING HIM!!!! VERY ICONIC IN THE CHRISTIAN MUSIC FIELD! HE WILL FOREVER BE MISSED! (I also love the fact that everyone knew it was him just because of his musical style.)
8. “The Warrior Is A Child” at 6:02 threw me off because they inserted the 1992 remake instead of the original 1984 version. But then again, that’s just me being a musical nerd lol. It’s a beautiful song nonetheless :)
9. Wally going to the movies from 9:22 onward. I couldn’t stop laughing :)
10. Wally taking a 90s/2000s artist and placing her in the 80s just because he can at 9:57
11. Chonda lowkey giving the answer to Round 8 (11:06). It was unintentional but I thought that was a nice segue.
12. WALLY’S VOICE CRACK AT 11:47!!!!!! I’m sorry, but that was hilarious!!!!
13. Joy and Steven’s duet at 12:07 onward.
14. Dave’s delivery at 12:37. It had action, drama, excitement, and to top it all off, hand motions!
15. Dave’s MJ impersonation at 12:57 haha. Unpopular opinion, but I always thought that MJ and Amy looked somewhat alike in the 90s? Must’ve been their hairstyles lol.
16. Chonda missing the lyrics at 13:15. She is DEFINITELY the female Mark Lowry!
17. WayNation redeeming themselves at 13:33 haha :) I remember this was in their 90s battle vid first, and I didn’t expect them to put it in it’s actual place. You guys are real ones!
Boy that was a lot lol, but all this to say I ENJOYED THIS BATTLE!!! You guys always come through with great episodes. And shoutout to SCC, Chonda, and Dave for joining in on the fun. God bless you Way Nation Team!
Wow this bright back memories
😂 What fun! 😁🎶🎵👏 I was wondering if a Russ Taff song would be in there. Please consider making more of these videos!
Always so funny 😂
