- Cats naturally explore. Often we do not want them on the furniture or the kitchen counter. One spray of Stop That! for cats and the cat will not go to that place. Leave the can sitting there for a long-lasting effect.
Cats will not learn from this, all the cat will learn is that when you hold a spray bottle, that means run.
You are contradicting yourself here. If you don’t want your cat in a certain place (say the dinner table), and you spray it once it always stays away (even of you have to leave the can on the table….then you have accomplished your goal with minimal effort and just one spray and (I agree), one unpleasant experience. Being startled by a noise and pheromone is minimal stress to accomplish “one trial learning”. It reduces long-term stress on both the cast and the people. Yes, this is an effective, minimally invasive training tool. Who said czars are not trainable? They are if you give them the right experience (like a pheromone we cannot smell, but they can).
@@johnmcglone1064 might be true for some cats, might just be my cat or something then, he always repeats the same actions that I’ve tried multiple times to get him to stop. Even if they do they’ll just do it when you’re not around. It’s best to train them
Cats will always ‘disobey’ but in their minds it’s not bad. They act completely on instinct and I don’t think spraying my cat with a bottle will teach him anything sadly, I wish it did

Get a SSCAT Jar u set it up when the cat gets close it let’s out a loud fast air to scare & keep your cat off a counter furniture or away from certain doors I haven’t used one yet but after hearing about it I plan too
Using words like stupid degrade yourself. Try being objective. What you describe is the placebo effect. Yes, if you spray water, you may solve 40% of the issue with cats being in a place you do not want them. But the pheromone is closer to 100% effective. By all means, try the simpler approach first (water spray). If that doesn’t work, bring out the pheromone.
Try using something with a natural citrus or rosemary scent, it wont hurt your cat but the smell will deter them from the counters or your furniture

Besides if your cat climbs you need to provide plenty of climbing options for the cat. The problem isn't a cat's natural desire to sit be in a comfortable, elevated location.
They didn’t even say “no.” The cat is probably confused. Cats need verbal reinforcement within a second of their unwanted behavior, so they can identify EXACTLY what they’re not supposed to do. Then immediate praise when they stop the unwanted behavior. They don’t speak our languages, of course, and have to learn parts of our language/get social cues. I’ve had a lot of cats and dogs in my life, and this is what I’ve found to be true anecdotally as well as backed up by professional trainers.
You are likely correct. Multi-sensory training is better than using a single sense (like sound). This is why the product is called Stop That! This is what many people say when they find a dog or cat doing something you don’t want them to do. Feel free to shout stop that! When you spray.

Ok that works for about a minute. It’s the sound. It changes them away, until you look the other way they do it again and again and again.

I did this with mine since she was a kitten, but only when he jumped on the kitchen table. She's 4 years old and doesn't jump on the table, but occasionally if she does, she jumps off the second she sees me. Classic "Positive Punishment" method.

I thought this was a spray to apply to spots where you don't want your cat to jump to. Like a deterent spray.
Yes, this is the correct way to use Stop That! for cats. Do not spray cats directly. The video was meant to show how averse they are to the odor. Spray it on anything and they will stay away.

You want a different pheromone in the cat litter that to correct behavior.

It might break the cat's trust with you. So, maybe you should learn more information before you go trying to insult me.

You can also spray the pheromone on the spot with no cat there and it will avoid that area. But I am working other pheromones that are even more effective for their purpose.

I needed a cat repellent. What can you suggest? The cat of my irresponsible neighbor, always poop in front of my garage everyday. I caught the cat everyday especially in my cctv. But I don't want to hit or hurt the cat. I just wanted her to avoid pooping in that same place. Thank you for anyone answering. ☺️

Cat probably thinks it can do whatever it wants, it has to learn sooner or later, no telling how many that cat been told get off there, the cat wasn’t hurt, maybe startled a little bit, and cats are often jerks just cause, gotta do what they gotta do, it’s a reason they don’t want it up there.
I'm confused. The cat was literally in a litter box and then went to a box of mouse toys!! Why do you want to deter that? Why was the cat doing anything wrong?

This doesn't work.. Even with water in a spray bottle... My cat just doesn't react to it anymore... Now be scratches at my door at 3 in the morning just because he can🥲
My cat does too. I let him outside and he comes in acting like a jerk. He's awake and hungry and just annoying at that hour. It disturbs my kitten and makes it want to play at that hour.

@nickcarncross6137 hello nick. What's aba. Please don't train your cat this way. They do not respond to punishment the same way we do. They do however respond to positive reinforcement. Telling her not to climb on the shelf and rewarding her with a treat or praise is 100% more effective. The owner was actually coaxing her toward the litter box, as if to say use it, or is yours now (cats think everything belongs to them). Then she was punished for being naturally curious and obedient to her owner: 0% effective training. Sorry for the long response. 😊 the confused face a tt the end tells it all. She didn't understand she was wrong, so she will do it again, for sure
