The em258 are good but level is a bit lower than the em172. I use both but using the 172 a lot more. Everything on this channel is recorded with the em172 stereo on camera or stereo + a lavaliere plugged into the sony pcm-a10. The only time when these are not used is when recording something quick with the phone and when doing voiceovers with the Rode nt1 after. They're really great value but if I didn't have these I would probably look for some good headset for talking and some nice small condensers and a stereo bar.
very interesting which JFET's they use in their microphones
I have no idea.
The datasheet is in description. Primo make a new version of the em172, the em272 (not sure about code) but I couldn't find that one.

Is the EM172 too big to be practical for an in-ear binaural microphone?
Way too big - 10mm
