    This is so sad to see. This tower block and the other towers in Grimsby could have all been easily saved and refurbished instead of just being knocked down into a pile of ruble. Such a waste. Same fate happened to the Red Road flats in Glasgow. The country needs to sort out the issue of unnecessary demolition.

    Alfred Nobel invented the dynamite in 1866. That's over 150 years ago.
    It looks like the demolition company has missed that.

    what a waste of perfectly good social housing, WHY? what was wrong with it? or was it the people the Council had put in it?
    I mean, nice to see how it is done, good time-lapse video, but such a waste.....where do you put all those people out of a fifteen storey block, no wonder we are so short of affordable and rentable houses with such short sighted actions as this.
    From an ex- multi-storey building caretaker, so I DO know what I am talking about.

      Probably because it's old and older buildings have high amounts of asbestos in then and asbestos is toxic and causes cancer

    They should have been detonated like most tower blocks when they’re demolished. I live in Hull across the Humber from here and we’ve had several blocks demolished with explosion on the orchard park estate

    • @RWBHere

      Too much asbestos in it to do that.

    • @cgi2002
      @cgi2002 2 года назад

      @@RWBHere also there is a petrol station not even 100m away. The vibration risks damaging the storage tanks. Then there is also housing not even 20m away from the base of the tower.

    these were UK council/social housing and very nice places to live at first but then slummy tenants move in and make trouble so it's best to demolish the flats rather than put the slummier tenants into pig stys where they belong.
