    What many people in the West don't understand is that Putin is not the reason of that war, the average Ivan is. Putin is just a representative of vast majority of Russian population. The Russian populace is not Putin's hostage, on the contrary, he is executor of their will and dreams. I'm Kazakh, I've lived amongst them all my life. Even here, in Kazakhstan vast majority of them are still pro-war, I can imagine how they are in Russia itself. When the war started many Russians openly threatened us that after Ukraine Russia would come here if we're too pushy about speaking Kazakh language (Russians in former Soviet Republics still don't speak local languages and even get offended if we dare to speak to them in these languages).
    It's true that many Russians don't like Putin, but only because he's too "weak", not "as strong as Stalin was"

    • @jtf2dan
      @jtf2dan Месяц назад

      Pretty sure it was Putin who announced the war...not the average Ivan...and putins essay in 2021 gave away his plan....
      "While the history of the Ukrainian state probably cannot be traced back any earlier than 1918, Lenoe says “to be clear-today Ukraine is a nation state” where polling in elections indicates that the “vast majority of Ukrainians” want to preserve their independence.
      Russian President Vladimir Putin has made several dubious historical arguments, most notably in his 5,000-word essay “On the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians,” published on the Kremlin’s website in July 2021. In it, he elaborates on his assertion that Ukrainians and Russians are “one people” as a precursor to and defense of Ukraine’s invasion.
      For instance, Putin claims that Ukraine didn’t exist as a separate state and had never been a nation. Instead, he argues, Ukrainian nationality was always an integral part of a triune nationality: Russian, Belorussian, and Ukrainian. Putin also writes that Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians share a common heritage-the heritage of a realm known as Kievan Rus (862-1242), which was a loose medieval political federation located in modern-day Belarus, Ukraine, and part of Russia.
      “When Putin says this is the heritage of these three Slavic peoples-in one sense, he’s not wrong. But there’s no continuous line to be traced from this loose river confederation to the Russian state. And there’s also no continuous line to be traced from this loose confederation to the Ukrainian state,”

Land a string of a dozen, with suitable camo, that were all set off by the last in line when the engine reached it, thus taking out tracks, engine, and a lot of rail transport at once.

    I think the comment at the beginning that the Russians "...have had to rely on lighter and more mobile units for quick strikes" is a significant statement, and one that characterizes this war better than anything. The thing about these lighter units is that they are smaller and very vulnerable. The casualty figures bear that out.
    Both sides have proven adept at defense. Having said that, neither would a chance in heck of withstanding a fully functional NATO force. It wouldn't even take long. The best example of this is the breach of the extensive Iraqi defenses at the beginning of the Gulf War.
    The other thing this has shown is that neither side has any credible offensive capability. Even as a supporter of Ukraine I have been disappointed at Ukraine's strategy and tactics. Of course, they have a good excuse. They lack the air power necessary to carry out true offensive operations. Many in Ukraine talk about how well the Ukrainian army has done and the lessons they could provide to NATO. I beg to differ. What has happened in Ukraine is precisely what happened at the beginning of WWI. The parallels are striking. NATO doctrine has evolved precisely to avoid the situation Ukraine finds itself in now. You will notice that NATO countries are not clamoring for Ukrainian instructors. Quite the opposite is true.

    Before I watch this video, I’m @ 1:11 right now, I want to see what the scenario and opinions about to be presented are, and, me being me, I will more than likely have something to say, whether that be a positive,negative or neutral opinion, I don’t know when to keep my mouth shut and opinions to myself.
    As with most dictatorships Putin does not give a damn about how many lives have to be sacrificed or what it does economically for the average Russian citizen, the only thing he has to worry about is if the average citizen gets told the truth about the so called “Special Operation”, and if they do then the men currently behind Putin might realise that Putin needs a holiday, a long long holiday, somewhere he can relax and enjoy the scenery, even if it is all snow or scrubland.
    When talking about the importance of Crimea to both Russia and Ukraine 🇺🇦 in my opinion the countries now supporting Ukraine 🇺🇦 should have intervened when Putin first Annexed the peninsula in 2014, a show of force from NATO or a coalition of forces, like the coalition that fought in Iraq (twice) and Afghanistan, might have been enough to dissuade Putin, but because it didn’t affect those countries directly (at the time) they just did a bit of sabre rattling through diplomatic channels and proposing resolutions, resolutions that would never get consensus and therefore completely a waste of time, in the toothless tiger 🐯 that is the United Nations 🇺🇳, China, and probably other countries, would vote against anything proposed by non Russian supporters, especially China who could veto anything, and because the flow of oil and gas wasn’t an issue the world sat on its proverbial hands and did nothing, and that gave Putin the time to reinforce Crimea and more importantly gather the support and armed forces to invade Ukraine 🇺🇦, the only thing was he miscalculated the amount of forces and resources needed, Ukraine was not going to let Putin walk into the country without a damn good defensive and offensive response, but that is water under the bridge now and we, the rest of the world need to step up and commit to sending troops to the region and directly oppose Putin, I don’t believe Russia,China, North Korea and others would want to see WWIII, and Putin allies would want him to withdraw, but time will tell.
    The point about the planning of a tactical nuclear weapon use is a very well thought out and valid assessment of why he probably would not use them, however the need to supply the military forces in the area by the provision of specialist protective suits etc is not as valid as you might think, Nuclear,Biological and Chemical weapons protection (N.B.C) does not really apply to a Nuclear weapon explosion, especially a tactical weapon, as long as the forces don’t come into the blast radius and avoid direct contact with fallout they could get away without protective clothing, Alpha and Beta radiation can easily be stopped , just brushing contamination of normal clothing and equipment would remove Alpha and Beta particles away, it’s Gamma radiation exposure that is the nasty stuff that kills and kills quickly, and even protective clothing can not stop Gamma radiation, only time (the length of time it takes for radiation exposure levels to dissipate, distance (the further away from ground zero the better) and shielding (led is the best protection, but it has to crazy thick to reduce Gamma radiation, being in deep bunkers or very very thick walls also helps, but nothing completely prevents gamma exposure).
    I think you are spot on with the Crimea being the key to ending the war, but the fact is that Putin is just crazy enough to sacrifice his troops, the only goal of using tactical weapons on Crimea would probably be to deny it to Ukraine 🇺🇦 and as a consequence it would stop it being used by anyone for a considerable amount of time, all depending on the yield of the weapon(s) determines that length of time.
