  • In another story which was first done by Escape, here's a unique science fiction type episode that has the busy radio and TV star Frank Lovejoy volunteering for a series of rigorous long-term tests. These tests include sensory deprivation and several other scientific procedures to determine if a human can be "fine-tuned" into a superhuman. Sound quality is very good for a late 50's recording. ↓more below↓

√√√√√✓√√✓✓√√√✓✓ STUFF-N-SUCH Dept: When William N. Robson took over as producer-director of Suspense for a few years, he pulled out many of the scripts he used on Escape (which isn't a bad thing) But it IS a bad thing on the other Old Time Radio channels when they post the same story two or three times without telling you. YOU find out after you're relaxing to hear a new story when you realize "Hey, I've already heard this!" I rarely post a duplicate (unless it's for a good reason) and I'll always let you know.
ONE MORE THING! I have no idea how the "key moments" were added, or who added them! They started showing up on some of my uploads in 2022.
    • Suspense and Escape episodes are all in the public domain • Another program "Uploaded with Care" by Charlie Stuckey, the proprietor of this channel. •

This episode almost feels like a pilot for a TV show--a man who has almost superhuman senses who decides he's not going to take orders from his own government or anybody else, and instead is going to help people (and he's joined by his love interest, a beautiful scientist, of course).

I can't help thinking that those inefficient engines described at the start could have been easily improved with Autolyte Resistive Spatk Plugs! 😂

Air Conditioner Fan Indeedy! I have a good loyal bunch of subscribers, but still only a few read my descriptions. You are one of those few, so my words are meant for you! I try to pass on the things I know about. What I don't know I can just make up! (not really) I just try to keep things fun.

Joan Banks also starred in this episode as she did in many other radio shows. She was also married to Frank Lovejoy and is referred to here as Mrs. Frank Lovejoy which she obviously approved of doing in the starring of Actors and was a tradition used until recently, although it is still used. The practice was not sexist, it was the preferred method in giving the person a name which showed her love for her husband. The famous Mrs.Leslie Carter used it for her name throughout her entire career.

Another example is James and Pamela Mason, who did a couple of Suspense episodes. Lovejoy is also one of my wife's favorite voice actors!

feeble story - i suspect the writer didn't know how to end it and threw this one together - hard to believe these supermen didn't plan for this ending

+John Eyon I think it was a vehicle for Lovejoy and his wife - I agree with you about the ending.

Frank Lovejoy sounds like Randy Stone from the old time radio show Nightbeat , lol!

@Willie Gordon I knew it was Frank Lovejoy , Lol. Check out Frank Lovejoy in "Escape" , "The Blue Beetle" , "Gangbusters" and other old time radio programs. He had an everyman's persona but he still sounded like Randy Stone. Check out these movies with Frank Lovejoy: "Black Bart" (1948) "Home Of The Brave " (1949)"Try And Get Me"! (1950) "I Was A Communist For The FBI!" (1951) "Retreat Hell!" (1952) "The Hitchhiker" (1953) "House Of Wax (1953) "Strategic Air Command" (1955). Now close your eyes and tell me if he doesn't sound like Randy Stone.
