As for your mechanic question for the 2005 honda civic manual transmission, this is what you should know - All manual transmissions can be flat toed at least for a short while, for long toe you need to know if you have a "transmission pump". I will go over the powertrain piece by piece. You have the front wheels, connected to the front hubs, these hubs are connected to cv axles which then are connected to the transmission. The transmission has a series of gears that all must be engaged through the shifting mechanism. If you have this in natural, none of these gears are moving aside from the main shaft that has the main drive barring. The only time you are in danger of damaging the transmission while the car is in neutral is if the car has external lubrication mechanisms that keep the main drive bearing properly lubricated. This is quite rare on manual transmissions, in fact, I have never personally ran into it. By giving your VIN number to the dealership, you can ask them exactly what transmission it has in it, you can then do research on that exact transmission. Don't settle for 5speed manual answer, ask for its part number. I would imagine you have the 1.3L (MX hybrid) as that is the only manual option in hybrids, but get the actual part number of your trans. You then ask if this has a transmission pump. You can even just call the dealership and ask for a transmission pump for your car as if you are going to buy that part. If they say your car does not have one, this means it is totally fine to flat toe for long periods of time.
